How to Stop at Stations

In Train Sim World stopping at stations correctly and on-time is a vital part of keeping the railway running smoothly. As a rule you should aim to have your train at below 30mph when you reach the start of the station platform. Then try to hit another slower speed when halfway through the platform. Each train is different and learning the incremental speeds of approach is trial and error.

To best way to do this is to pick any passenger service and get up to line speed, then figure out the best place to start breaking at the different stations by taking careful note of landmarks such as houses, trees, bridges, and rivers.

Take a look at the video below to see a walkthrough on how to stop a train at a station in Train Sim World.

Browse through the Developer Manuals

It is recommended that you take the time to browse through the various Train Sim World Manuals that Dovetail Games, the developers of the game offer as they will enable you to learn more about the game, and it's add-ons. In each manual you will find information on the controls, individual locomotive operation, signalling guidance and more.

Beginner Tips

You can learn the layout of each locomotive cab in Train Sim World by using the precision cursor (mouse on PC) to hover over each control and switch. In order to master any of the routes in the game you need to become familiar with them which means knowing where the breaking points, signals, and stations are located.

It is therefore recommended that to begin with you drive the train you select at half speed until you learn their whereabouts. Whenever you see a yellow signal you need to start slowing the train down as the next signal will more than likely be red and you must stop in front of it.
