You awake to find your boat in ruins and in order to acquire the materials required to repair it you must make a series of trades with the strange frog-like inhabitants of the island who don't speak your language and won't give up the items you need without something in exchange. Fixing your boat will involve solving puzzles and finding hidden treasures as you explore the island.

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include why you should always interact with the items you find and why it is essential that you help the Cartographer.

Always Talk to the Frogs

As you wander the island it is essential that you chat to each of the frog residents you encounter that live all around the island. These NPCs can be interacted with, and it is the only way in the game that you can figure out what to do next. Keep in mind that you may have to interact with the frogs many times in order to understand what they are looking for.

Interact with Items

Make sure you interact with the items you stumble across as you wander the island completing errands for the frogs in order to get the materials you require to fix your boat as these items can help you considerably once you have discovered what their purpose is. These items include fruits, bees nests, and plants.

Plants have Special Benefits

There are certain plants that can be found throughout the island that give you special benefits so make sure you pick them up when you come across them as they will come in useful when solving puzzles.

- Green Flat Leaves

The green flat leaves will enable you to glide while you hold them.

- Small Round Plants

The small round plants will give you a burst of speed once you grab one.

Sleep at Campfires

In order to sleep during the night in Time on Frog Island you have to collect three pieces of wood and put them on your campfire. You can use any campsite you come across to rest providing you collect the required wood. Keep in mind your default campsite on the beach also requires you to have your plant and bedroll.

Help the Cartographer

To the west of the main island you will find the Cartographer trying to get between two rocks to retrieve his binoculars. Make sure you help the Cartographer as doing so will make him appear in different areas of the island where he will guide you to the next thing you need to do. Always talk to the Cartographer when he appears as there is always the possibility of him giving you a useful clue.

Build a Home

If you help the Carpenter find all his tools and pay him 3 gold pieces over three days he will build you your own house. This is useful as it gives you a place to store things and the bed inside allows you to sleep at any time instead of having to wait until nightfall to use a campsite.

Use the Brewing Machine

At the Tavern there is a brewing machine which you can use to create different drinks, some of which will give you certain special abilities when consumed. Listed below are the drinks you can create and the ability they grant you.

Any Fruit + a Blobfish = Croak ability.

Any Fruit + a Mushroom = Jump ability.

Any Fruit + a Dodo Egg = Tongue ability.

Go Fishing

Fulfilling the Fisherman's request will reward you with rope and the ability to fish. The Fisherman will also let you use his fishing crane and trap which will enable you to go fishing to the west of the main island. Placing different items in the trap and waiting until the next day will reward you with various fish and items. Make sure you try different bait to see what you get.

The Weather Affects Things

It is important to keep in mind that the weather affects things in Time on Frog Island. For example there are some items which will only appear in sunny or rainy weather, and some creatures such as crows or grubs that won't appear when it is raining. Anytime you find your progress has been halted it may be because of the weather, if this is the case you need to head back to camp, add some logs to the fire, and sleep. Sleeping until the next day will open up new opportunities.
