Explore the Terrain for Rewards

You begin The Red Lantern in the cabin of 'The Musher's' friend somewhere in the Alaskan mountains and from there you need to learn the terrain and place. In order to do this you need to map out the game making sure you don't get lost in the process which is easy to do with white never-ending snow everywhere. It is essential that as you expore you monitor your hunger and temperature levels and also keep an eye out for threats in the wild. There are over 100 completely different encounters in The Red Lantern and they each offer rewards by means of exploration.

Prevent Dogs from Dying

Poor decisions in The Red Lantern can result in unfortunate consequencess for your sled team in that the dogs can actually die. There is however if you prefer a setting on top of the 'Options' menu that can be toggled that prevents any dogs from dying. This option which can be toggled is called 'Dogs Always Live'. As this is a survival game toggling this option to on can be considered cheating.

If you decide to play without the 'Dogs Always Live' option toggled to off you need to ensure that you protect the dogs you decide to adopt and do everything possible to keep them alive. Each of the eight dogs you can choose from in The Red Lantern has different strengths, weaknesses, and will have their own events show up. Any event that takes one of your dogs out of commission will halve the max energy of the entire dog team. What is The Red Lantern

'The Red Lantern' is the name of an award given to the person who finishes last in the Iditarod Race, it represents the perseverance and determination they had to finish the race. The Iditarod Race is an annual event that takes place on the first Saturday in March in the Alaskan Wilderness where dog teams compete while pulling a sled driven by a 'musher'.
