The Quarry is an interactive drama survival horror adventure game where you assume control of one of the nine teenage counselors who must survive their last night at Hackett's Quarry summer Camp amongst supernatural creatures and violent locals. The game is played from a third-person perspective and divided into 10 chapters along with prologue and epilogue. The choices you make change the character development, the plot, and relationship between the characters. The game lasts about 10 hours and there are 186 possible endings.

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include why you need to pay attention to the in-game tutorials when they appear and why you should inspect things twice.

Pay Attention to In-Game Tutorials

As you progress through The Quarry you will be presented with in-game tutorials the first time you come across certain gameplay mechanics. These include things like collecting evidence and performing quick-time events. It is crucial that you pay attention and understand how they work as failing at some of these gameplay sequences can lead to the death of the game's nine playable characters.

Avoid Spoilers

To get the most enjoyment out of The Quarry you need to play the game knowing as little as possible about the plot and just let the mystery get revealed over the course of a playthrough. There are 15 story paths and 186 different endings and although you won't be able to see the various permutations in one playthrough it is advised against going online to check what fates await the nine playable characters as doing so will just ruin the sense of surprise and discovery you will experience when you play the game.

Stick with your Choices

In The Quarry you will be forced into making different choices which will help to shape the course of its narrative. Try not to second guess yourself once you make a decision. This basically means it is recommended that you resist the temptation to continually use the Death Rewind feature and instead stick with your initial choice. Keep in mind the game will autosave every few minutes and there is no option to manual save.

Doing Nothing is an Option

Keep in mind that the game does not tell you that not every on-screen prompt needs to be responded. If you decide to do nothing the game will simply take your action into account and adjust the scenario accordingly, this can sometimes lead to a series of events that you would not have otherwise got.

Inspect Things Twice

Get into the habit of inspecting things twice as there will be instances where you will not get all the information the first time you look at it. An example of this is during the first free-roam segment with Laura where you can choose to snoop the trunk of the car. If you choose to do so Laura will find a document which she can glance over. What the game does not tell you is that Laura is able to return to the trunk of the car and interact again to fully inspect the letter.

Continue Exploring

If the game gives you the option to 'Leave' or 'Continue Exploring' you should select the latter as it usually indicates that there is an important item at that location you haven't yet found. More often than not it will be a tarot card or a piece of evidence, so it is worthwhile staying and exploring the area thoroughly.

Don't Panic

It is inevitable that at some point during The Quarry you will find yourself in a vulnerable situation which will require stealth to escape from the unseen assailants hunting you down. When this happens it is crucial that you stay calm and don't panic. Make sure you approach the situation in a slow, methodical manner to ensure that you don't miss any visual or audio cues that can help you.

Replay Visions

Whenever a chapter ends in The Quarry you will meet a tarotist who will be able to read any Tarot Cards you managed to find. After reading them the tarotist will give you the option to see a vision of the future which more often than not will be blurry. Keep in mind that you can replay visions in the Tarot menu to get a clearer picture.
