If you go right in the underground segment in World 4-2 you will come across seven ? Blocks (2 over 2, with 3 to the side). Go past them to the next gap and you will see some blocks on the roof. When you reach this area you need to bounce around to reveal some blocks which you can then use to hit those already-revealed bricks to make a vine appear. If you climb this vine it will take you to a linear platforming area that leads to a warp zone which will take you directly to World 6.

When you reach the end of the underground segment in World 4-2 there is a pipe with a Piranha Plant in it that you have to pass. Instead of doing this use Big/Fire Mario/Luigi to break the blocks above it and then go right and along the path to a warp zone which will take you directly to World 5.
