Got a cheat or hot tip for this game? Found a secret, or a strategy for success?

Target Players with the Most Coins

A good strategy in Super Mario Bros. 35 is to target players who have the most coins and try to get them out of the game early. You can only interact with other players indirectly by placing more enemies into their levels and you are given the choice of either picking your target manually yourself or automatically according to a certain criteria which we recommend to be players with the most coins as they are likely to be good players and it is in your best interests to get them out of the game as soon as possible.

Coins are a Lifesaver

Every time you manage to collect 20 coins in Super Mario Bros. 35 you will be able to press the X button on your controller to exchange them for a random power up. This could be anything from a Super Mushroom to a POW block. There is no way of determining what you will receive, it is a straight forward lucky dip.

During the early game collecting the coins to get the power ups is worthwhile as they are very useful when you are starting out. Once you start heading towards the endgame you need to make staying alive your priority. If you do manage to collect 20 coins at this point when things start to get hectic, hang onto them as a lifesaver for when you have sustained damage and are vulnerable.

Take Advantage of Koopa Troopas

In Super Mario Bros. Series Koopa Troopas are a race of anthropomorphic turtle-like creatures that come after Mario. If you jump on their heads they will leave behind their shell which you can then nudge to turn into a lethal projectile that will take down anything in it's path. Take advantage of this shell to take out enemies, you can also earn a time bonus of 30 seconds when you take out enemies one after another using this method.

How to Play the Latter Stages

When you reach the latter stages of Super Mario Bros. 35 you will hear an audio cue. Once this alert has taken place the music will speed up and your time bank will deplete more rapidly. It is at this point of the game that you should abandon your cautious approach and begin to move through the levels quicker as your objective is now to keep your time from running out. Instead of trying to get your hands on hard to reach power ups and coins you should instead focus on getting as many Super Stars and Koopa shells as possible to increase your time. At no point should you recklessly advance, you still need to be vigilant and move cautiously, only quicker.

Don't Rush in the Early Game

Make sure that until you get a power up you take your time in Super Mario Bros. 35 and don't make any silly mistakes as doing so will result in you ending up back in the lobby, because without a power up you are one wrong move from death. In the early game it pays to take your time in general, it is not until you are one of the last ten remaining players that time becomes the all important factor.

Spectate Other Players when you Lose

When you get eliminated in Super Mario Bros. 35 after reaching the last ten or so players you should hang around and spectate the game instead of going to the lobby sulking. The reason being is the chances are that the player who eliminated you is a good player and the game gives you the opportunity to follow them and possibly see things like the locations of secret blocks and effective strategies for dealing with troublesome enemies.

Learn the Levels

If you are familiar with the classic Mario levels that were in previous games in the series you will have a big advantage over someone who has never played a Mario game before as you will have some idea as to what is coming up and be able to prepare for it accordingly. For instance you will know where to look for and activate power ups as well as where to look for the secret blocks and pipes. Memorising the layout of levels will also help you at the endgame when you will be moving through them quickly.

Collect the Power Ups

To have any chance of winning Super Mario Bros. 35 it is essential that you pick up the various power ups whenever you come across them. The reason why it is important to collect the power ups is because they enable you to tank progressively more hits without dying which basically allows you some margin of error. Try to get the Fire Flower power up as soon as possible as this will transform Mario into Fire Mario regardless of his previous state. If Fire Mario takes damage, he reverts to Super Mario rather than Small Mario which is a huge help. Collecting the flower as Fire Mario will add 15 seconds to the timer instead. There is a chance you can get a Fire Flower at the Item Roulette. Grab the Super Stars with both hands whenever they become available as they will give you temporary invincibility which you should take advanage of while under it's influence to race through the levels to build up your time.
