Always Carry Sufficient Food and Water

Make sure when you go exploring you take a sufficient amount of food and water with you in order to help prevent the health bar in the bottom left corner of the screen dropping to zero. Allowing the health bar to drop to zero will result in your character dying and respawning in the base (except on Hardcore). Although this respawn will cost you a few items from your inventory, the game gives you the opportunity to retrieve those lost items by going to the place where you died.
