As you befriend the valley's residents and fulfill your father's legacy, you'll live a carefree life on the farm growing crops and raising animals. As the seasons go by, you'll find your lifelong partner, raise a child together, and watch them grow up before your very eyes.

• Buy the Animal Brush and Fishing Rod Early

Make sure you prioritize getting the animal brush and fishing rod early. The animal brush can be brought from Van the merchant who visits on the 3rd and 8th of each month. Keep in mind this item costs 1,000 gold to buy so make sure you keep some of your starting money in reserve for when it becomes available.

It is recommended that you buy the animal brush on the 3rd day of Spring. The fishing rod can also be purchased from Van for 500 gold and enables you to sell fish at the center of town to make money.

• Take Care of your Cows

It is important that you take care of your cows in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life as failing to do so will lead to them losing health until they start to produce poor quality milk. This can happen in a matter of days and will take a whole season to rectify.

You can keep an eye on the health of your cows by looking at their health bar and a heart rating in your menu. To take care of your cows you need to do the following:

- Snuggle and brush your cow every morning to build love

- Make sure you grow grass in the pasture for them to eat outside

- Ring the bell in the pasture to let them inside every night and any time it rains

- Put fodder in their troughs any time they have to stay inside due to rain

It is essential that your cows produce high-quality milk in order to get the maximum yield from them the two times a day you can milk each cow.

• Sell your Male Chickens and Cows

Male chickens and cows don't provide eggs or milk which means their lack of output makes them not worth the space they take up in your coop or barn.

It is important that you keep at least one male, so they can impregnate your female animals and allow you to get free babies. Male sheep are fine, they give wool the same as female sheep, which makes them more useful.

• Befriend Daryl

In Story of Season: A Wonderful Life it is important to befriend all the townspeople because their friendship will benefit you and your farm. But besides the person you intend to marry, the first person you should befriend is Daryl the valley's scientist who is always thinking about his research.

In order to grow your friendship with Daryl you must go to the dig site and give him any fossils or old coins you find there. Your friendship will eventually grow to the point where he'll start to give you stuff which will make the time and effort you put in worthwhile.

• Don't Ignore the Archaeology Dig Site

Make sure you don't ignore the archaeology site that Carter and Flora set up behind Vesta's farm. Digging there will take up a chunk of your day but if you manage to score a few old items and sell them it will help you afford a couple of early expenditures in your first season.

Keep an eye out for dig spots that have little gold flecks in them after you've used the shovel on them once or twice. Other items are also worth grabbing, but the gold ones will sell for the most cash.

• Check the Bulletin Board

Don't forget to check the bulletin board twice a season as this is where the townsfolk will post requests for you to fulfil. Most of these requests must be filled within the current season. As you advance further into the game you will start to get requests with different time limits.

To begin with the rewards you get for completing these requests are nothing special, but they will improve later in the game. You will be able to see new requests on the bulletin board on the first of each season and on the sixth.

• Get Recipes from the Sprites

Cooking is an important mechanic in the Story of Seasons franchise. You can always pick up recipes from other people in town but if you want to fill your collection quickly you can do so by visiting the sprites at the tree at the end of the forest every day. Just eat the mushroom that is outside the treehouse in order to shrink and then ask the sprites for a free recipe.
