SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Cheats, Tips, Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include how to change SpongeBob's costume manually and how to make him move faster.

Take Advantage of Fast Travel to get Collectibles

If you are going to ignore the side quests and just focus on playing the main story you will not have a need to backtrack. If you are a player that wants to gather all the collectibles you should take advantage of fast travel in order to return to previously played part of the game to retrieve them. At the 'Pause' menu you will be able to select any map you have already been to and the section you want to go back to.

Look Out for Side Quests

Side quests in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is optional, they are just there to give you more things to do in the world you are exploring. Most of the side quests are accessed at Bikini Bottom by walking up to notable characters in the series that have a red flag over their head. If you talk to them, they will give you a side quest which when completed will always reward you golden doubloons and sometimes a costume. Keep in mind that there are characters at Halloween Rock Bottom and Jelly Glove World that also offer side quests.

Change Costumes Manually

Costumes are a cosmetic feature in SpongeBob SquarePants that doesn't impact the game in any way. Kassandra, the fortune-telling merchant who the heroes bought the bubbles from, will change SpongeBob into an outfit that fits with the theme of the area he is heading to. You can change the outfit SpongeBob is wearing at any time to something else of your choice by going to the 'Pause' menu.

The Jump Button is Sensitive

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is primarily a platform game and as you would expect it has platforming mechanics like jumping. There is a regular jump as well as a typical double jump, there is also the ability to make SpongeBob hover by holding down the jump button. Be weary of the fact that the jumping button is sensitive and leaving your thumb on it after performing a jump will trigger the hover ability which can sometimes stop your momentum. To prevent this from happening you need to time when you press the jump button correctly.

Use the Dodge Ability

Make sure you make use of the dodge ability during fights where tight movement is required. It is particularly useful in boss fights where SpongeBob needs to get out of the way of incoming enemy attacks. Dodging can also be used to move a bit quicker around the world which is helpful when you consider that there is no sprint button in the game and at times SpongeBob moves slower than you would like.
