Introduction

Spongebob Squarepants: Lights Camera Pants is a simple video game based on the Spongebob produced by Nickelodeon. The game features several fun and very unique mini-games, allowing up to four players to participate. Each player competes in these mini-games to gain roles in Spongebob's favorite television series: MermaidMan and BarnacleBoy. There are several rounds for each role. In the end, whoever achieves the highest overall score (all points added up) wins. There is also an option to pick and choose video games at leisure. Some playable characters in this game include: Spongebob, Patrick, Plankton, Sandy, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs.

Graphics

Graphics aren't really up to par, but are "at least" suitable for playing the game. Character facial expression is very unrealistic and at times off (expressions don't match their words or what we perceive they should react). Movement isn't terrible but can also use some work as realism is slightly off, but the problem is not so evident here as the preceding problem. The graphics could have also been better in terms of at least coming close to the excellency of what was featured in the television series. Another problem was the lack of good flow between the voice and animation. Vocals were going but the mouth didn't move sometimes (or even not at all).

5 has been issued for: lack of substantial realism or good facial expression, the lack of truly exceptional graphical quality, and the lack of substantial flow in between vocals and animation.

Sound

Sound is decent. Realism is a factor coming into play as it doesn't completely reflect a realistic sound, but more of a cartoon-ish sound. Since Spongebob is a cartoon it's not much of a problem and is merely a tool of enhanced comedic purposes. Sound is, overall, suitable for the genre of video despite it's lack of realism.

8 has been issued for: relevance to genre despite lack of realism.

Gameplay

Gameplay was excellent for the most part. The minigames were excellent and very enjoyable, easy to control, and easy to follow. I did not enjoy that in one round a game of Rock Paper Scissors is needed to break the tie, but that's more of a minor detail. I also loved how each individual round ended up building an actual final movie, something I was surprised by and really enjoyed. At one point my character played all the roles!

8 has been issued for: enjoyable gaming, creative final movie.

Lastability

Lastability is definitely not one of the game's stronger areas. At highest, you'll finish the rounds in 3-5 hours depending on how quickly you play and how many points you score. As a result, the game can become boring and a drag to deal with if you're the kind of person who doesn't like playing the same games more than several times (because you'll be doing that a lot) I'd assume there's around 23-27 minigames in total, nothing in comparison to the games in the Mario Part series (a rivaling game).

Overall

Overall, Lights Camera Pants is a nice video game and, despite it's lack of good lastability, is decent in the other areas (especially Gameplay). The ending movie was also an excellent addition, being something the player can always look forward to after the rounds of play. The movie is also a very accurate depiction of the characters involved in it (example: Mr. Krabs is always making references to money). Again, decent game overall. It's something any family or siblings/friends would enjoy playing.

Reccomended: Spongebob fans, fans of nickelodeon, fans of comedic plots, fans of minigames, fans of the Mario Party series, those who do not mind sub-par graphics.

7 has been issued for the game. An average game for the average video gamer. Go out and buy it today!
