Splitgate Cheats and Tips

Splitgate is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Take a look at our tips to get help in the game.

Splitgate is a free-to-play, fast-paced multiplayer first-person shooter that features player-controlled portals. The game revolves around Halo-inspired sci-fi combat in battle arenas where you can create wormhole portals between two points on the map that have been compared to those of the Portal series, and fire weapons or travel through those portals.

Splitgate Cheats, Tips Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include why you need to play the game aggressively and why you should not be in a rush to switch out your starting weapons.

Play Aggressively

The ability to spawn portals, and subsequently teleport around the maps at high speeds means the slow conservative approach will not work in Splitgate. As there are no safe spots you have no option but to play aggressively at all times. The maps ensure you will never be far away from your next encounter, and it is inevitable that you will die frequently playing in this manner, but respawns are fast.

Stick with your Starting Weapons

The two weapons you start each round of Splitgate with are the carbine and the assault rifle (both unranked). Although there are plenty of other options littered around the map which you can grab that will offer variance in playstyle, such as the sniper rifle, rocket launcher, railgun, etc. it is recommended that if you are a new player you stick with the two starting weapons until you get familiar with the game. The carbine gives you a medium-to-long-range option while the assault rifle is deadly at close quarters. Together they make an effective combination.

Master Portaling

In order to be successful in Splitgate it is essential that you master portaling. This though is something that will take time but once you get the hang of it you will be able to use them to slow the game down, set up ambush opportunities, and most importantly the ability to quickly get around the map which is a labyrinth of interlocking levels that can otherwise be very difficult if not impossible to traverse.
