Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include how to Squid Roll and the new weapons that have been added to the third installment of Splatoon.

Learn how to Squid Roll

The Squid Roll is one of the new movement mechanics in Splatoon 3 and is activated by quickly flicking the Left Stick in the opposite direction of where you are moving while in Swim Form and pressing the B button on your controller. When you Squid Roll you will also receive a brief period of invulnerability which comes in useful for escaping enemy fire.

Avoid Enemy Ink

Although swimming in your team's ink will enhances your mobility options considerably it is important to remember that if you try moving or swimming around in enemy ink it will slow you down and make you vulnerable to enemy attacks. One trick you can employ if you have enough ink is to throw a bomb in front of you, so you can to make a quick dash through enemy turf.

Try Out New Weapons

Two new weapon classes have been added to Splatoon 3, the Stringers and the Splatanas. The Tri-Stringer which is the Stringer class weapon is a bow that can shoot multiple ink projectiles vertically or horizontally while the Splatana Wiper which is the Splatana class weapon is a katana-like melee weapon that can splat enemies up close or deal plenty of damage from afar via its charging attack. Listed below are the new special weapons that have been added to the game.

Trizooka:

A triple shooter bazooka.

Killer Whale 5.1:

Shoots 6 floating lasers around the wielder.

Crab Tank:

A robot that can transform into a ball and alternate between rapid-fire or cannon shots.

Triple Inkstrike:

Releases 3 missiles when it is shot, you then must shoot 3 beacons to select their target.

Tacticooler:

Provides 4 beverages that increase players' speed and respawns them instantly if they are splatted during the effect.

Wave Breaker:

When it is thrown, the Wave Breaker starts pounding the ground, creating ink circles around it each time.

Reefslider:

An inflatable shark that players can ride in a straight line, creating a large blast of ink.

Ink Vac:

Absorbs enemy attacks and then shoots a large blast of ink.

Zipcaster:

A grappling hook.

How do you swim up walls?
You can spray ink on walls and swim up them to get onto high ground and cover turf from above. Keep in mind that not all walls can be inked or swum up, be careful with smooth surfaces or walls with a lip.
How do you recover your health?
Submerging yourself in ink will recover your health and prevent you from being splatted.
How do you perform the Squid Surge, Squid Roll, and Squid Bounce?
These mobility options can be performed while in 'swim' or 'squid' form. To enter this state you need to press ZL near a surface that is painted in your ink.
