Introduction

I'm going to be reviewing Sonic The Hedgehog '06, or Sonic Nwxt Gen (whatever name you like better). This game, in my opinion, was a complete disgrace to the Sonic franchise! I hated this game, and this game kind of gives me the impression that Sega is trying to kill Sonic; and here's why.

Graphics

For '06, the graphics could've been a LOT better. Sonic has long hair now, and so does Tails. In addition, Shadow's Chaos Spear is now silverish-white, and that is NOT how it's supposed to be (it's supposed to be yellow)! This game is glitched up. The graphics in both the levels and the cut scenes were just plain average. The camera angles of this game were very poor as well. Anyone can see that there was little, if not no effort put into the graphics, or anything in this game for that matter.

Sound

Though some of the music here was great (All Hail Shadow), the sound effect wise, the voice actors, and the level music was bad. The 4kids voice actors are in this game, making the characters sound all messed up (no offense to anyone who likes 4kids). When you broke a box, or killed a robot, it sounded mostly the same. The level music mostly sounded generic. The sound here was just bad.

Gameplay

Now here's where the worst part is. First of all Sonic gan't have a relationship with a human! Second Sonic runs SO slow, it doesn't make it seem like Sonic. And when you do get to the part where Sonic has to run fast, it's so uncontrolable and you can get easy deaths like that! Also, I hate the levels where you're holding Elise, you have to do all this "putting together you power" things, and it's so unrealistic. In addition, When you jump on and enemy with Sonic, you get hurt, not the enemy (you have to do a homing attack), so Sonic doesn't have that cool blue aurora around hum anymore when he jumps, only when doing a Homing Attack. Tails is pretty much the slowest character in the game, and he shoots rings! He's a mechanical genius; I liked the Cyclone a lot better. When Knuckles uses a Drill Claw now, alls it does is paralyze the enemy, and when you do a drill claw on the enemy, it will probably hurt you! Now as for Shadow, he runs slower than Sonic! There supposed to be equal in speed! And Shadow uses vehicles...AGAIN! Shadow doesn't need vehicles at all, it just makes him look so weak. Rouge, like Tails, shoots worthless rings. Couldn't Sega be any more creative? And omega is also very slow; though his attacks are robotic, the ones that can actually hurt take very long to charge up. And as for Silver, he is also very slow, and this telekineic powers are sometimes inaccurate. Blaze, on the other hand had a decent gameplay, but was very hard to get used to. Amy's gameplay wasn't that great. I also hated the RPG in this game, Sonic games are not supposted to be RPG, because the only thing that RPGs do is slow down the game, and make it a lot more boring. And finally, the loading times here were outraguosly long; never have I been frustrated with a game because of it's loading time (especially a Sonic game), up until now that is!

Lastability

With a bad gameplay, bad camera, horrid glitches, bad voice actors, and slow characters, this game wouldn't last long at all. You'd probably never play it again after you beat it. There are more missions to after the game is over, but they are boring and pointless.

Overall

Overall, this game is nothing but a disaster to Sonic. This game is horrible in almost every way possible (even more than I mentioned). Even I, as a real Sonic fan, completely hated this game. When I picked up the controller and started playing it, I knew something was wrong. I would definately NOT recommend buying it.
