SkateBIRD is a skateboarding game that plays similarly to the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series of video games, except that you control a small bird on a skateboard instead of a human. The first thing you should do when you play SkateBird to improve your experience is to increase the field of view, or FOV. In order to do this you need to go to the game's 'Options' menu and the slider that determines FOV. By default this is set to 75, but it can be increased to 90 which will give you a wider view of the environment without causing a fisheye effect.

Hidden throughout SkateBird's five main levels are secrets which unlock new cosmetic and music options in the game. Keep an eye out for floating objects in out-of-the-way places to find them. These secrets will not improve your ability to pull of tricks.

In SkateBIRD the Fancy Meter determines your ability to do fancy moves. It tells you how fast you can go at maximum speed, and it also determines how high you can get when launching off of a ramp. To build up the FANCY meter's charge you simply have to perform tricks (particularly Ollies) and jump off of ramps to build vertical momentum. After a few tricks, the FANCY meter will be fully highlighted.

It is essential that you spend time getting used to the turn radius in SkateBIRD as its controls are much looser compared to other skating games of its ilk. This means you will not be able to do turn on a dime at high speeds. This is important because gaining speed and turning effectively is the only way to gain good air and accurately hit the skating features (grinds, ramps, etc) spread throughout each level.
