Ship of Fools is a fun and frantic seafaring roguelite co-op game. Use the cheats and tips below during your battles with the monsters and bugs intent on destroying your boat. Ship of Fools is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.

In Ship of Fools you play the Fools, the only creatures fool enough to brave the sea. The Great Lighthouse that once protected the Archipelago is broken and a storm of malice and corruption is coming. Together, you and your ship mate will jump aboard The Stormstrider and make your voyage across the sea.

Below are some cheats and tips that will help you in the game.

• Learn the Map

  In Ship of Fools you are free to choose your own path to reach your destination. Take the time to learn the symbol icons on the map and in the game's UI as doing so will enable you to plot the best route. Keep in mind that the question mark tile on the map is unpredictable and it is essential that you repair your ship before selecting the Kraken boss encounter tile which is designated by a skeleton symbol.

• Trade-In Resources for Upgrades

  In Ship of Fools you can trade in tendrils for upgrades. At the start of the game you have access to Halga at the Great Lighthouse spawn base who uses tendrils for soup concoctions for ship upgrades.

  Hang onto your tendrils for better upgrades which are either discoverable or purchasable in the world. This will include things such as shields to harpoon out the water during battle encounters, which will protect the ship from damage. Woody's shop is also a good source to buy different types of ammo, artifacts, trinkets, and resources. You can also visit Geltrude's shop to get bombs and other items.

• Duck Under Totem Lasers

  If you do not duck under totem lasers you will get temporarily stunned. This is something you need to avoid, especially when bugs are invading the ship. There is no ducking button in the game, you press the right or left shoulder or trigger buttons on an Xbox controller to quickly dive underneath the totem laser beams.

• Rolling

  You can get to the other side of the ship faster to hit slugs with the paddle by rolling. Do this whenever there are lots of insects on the ship and you need to deal with them quickly before they cause damage.

• Dealing with Attacks

  Timing is crucial when it comes to effectively dealing with projectile attacks and incoming bugs. In order to perform a successful spinning deflection shot, you need to stand in the designated circle on the deck and face the direction of the enemy. If you don't do this the shot fires off-target.

  Make sure you are holding your paddle to swing it when the projectile is close enough. You need to get the timing right because if you swing too early you will miss your target.

• Stock Up on Wood

  It is important that you find wood so you are able to repair the ship when it is damaged. If you do not fix the holes when they appear you risk going back to the start. You can stock up on wood by harpooning it out of the water during gameplay or by sailing to the wood symbol map tile and winning the level to be rewarded with a chest of wood.

• Move your Cannons

  Keep in mind the cannons on the ship are portable, they can be moved if need be to the opposite side of the boat to deal with the attacking enemy. Enemies spawn on either side of the boat, and the camera pans in on approaching enemies at the start of each level so you have time to get your cannons in position.
