Return to Monkey Island Cheats, Tips Strategy
Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include how you can easily highlight the objects you can interact with and why you should avoid using the hint book the Voodoo Lady gives you.
Talk to the NPCs to get Clues
If you find yourself struggling to solve any of the puzzles in Return to Monkey Island you need to have Guybrush talk to the NPCs that he encounters in the area as these characters will not only provide clues as to how to solve the puzzle but also point you in the right direction as to what you should be doing next to move the story along.
Use the Tab Button to Highlight Objects
Trying to figure out what can be interacted with in a point-and-click game can sometimes be challenging. Fortunately this is not the case with Return to Monkey Island which lets you quickly find out what you can interact with on any given scene by pressing and holding the tab button on your keyboard to highlight everything that's clickable onscreen with a small circle. You will find doing this particularly useful when you are searching for trivia cards which are generally hidden away in hard-to-find locations.
Prioritize Answering Trivia Cards
Keep in mind that you will only be able to carry a certain number of unanswered Trivia Cards in your inventory at any given time which means you should answer them as soon as possible to avoid them piling up which can result in you missing out on getting new ones. Don't worry if you get the answer wrong as there is no real punishment as the Trivia Cards generally respawn after five minutes or so at fixed locations.
Avoid Using the Hint Book
Once you are given the hint book by the Voodoo Lady early in Part 1 of Return to Monkey Island the game will become considerably easier to complete. In order to not spoil the enjoyment of the game it is advised that you only use the hint book as a last resort when you are really stuck.
