The story begins when Dr. Nefarious steals the Dimensionator and tries to use it to find a dimension where he always wins. He subsequently accidentally damages the fabric of space and time. After traveling through several dimensional rifts, Clank eventually arrives in a dimension where he meets Rivet, who refers to know Dr. Nefarious as 'Emperor Nefarious'. Rivet and Clank must then reunite with Ratchet and figure out Nefarious' troops.

How to Defeat Dr. Nefarious and Nefarious Juggernaut

Take a look at the video below to find out how you defeat Dr. Nefarious and Nefarious Juggernaut. These are the first bosses you will encounter in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

  • How to Defeat Dr. Nefarious
  • Use explosive weapons or the Lightning Rod to clear out the minions and damage Nefarious at the same time. Nefarious attacks will hurt his minions, so if you are careful, you can lure them through his attacks to thin them out. When Nefarious starts charging up his laser, use the Rift Tether to warp behind him and get a few free hits. If you are having trouble, try using the Ricochet Gun to ricochet bullets off of Nefarious's minions and hit him from behind.

    How to Defeat Nefarious Juggernaut

Use your strongest weapons and focus your attacks on the Juggernaut's head. The Ricochet Gun is very effective against the Juggernaut, as it can ricochet bullets off of his armor and hit him from behind. The Rift Tether can also be used to get behind the Juggernaut and get a few free hits. When the Juggernaut starts charging up his laser, be sure to dodge out of the way. If you're having trouble, try using the RYNO to deal massive damage to the Juggernaut.

    How to get More Bolts

If you find you don't have as many bolts as you would like for whatever reason, you always have the option of taking on the challenges at the Zurkie's Battleplex in the Scarstu Debris Field to win some more as a reward. The first time you enter the arena and are successful you will be awarded a decent amount of bolts or a specific prize. Although you can replay the challenges, the amount of bolts you receive on subseqent attempts is considerably less each time. Take advantage of the arena before going to a new planet if you are a little light on bolts and when you need to level up your weapons.

    How to Unlock New Game+

As with previous games in the Ratchet & Clank series, Rift Apart also has a New Game+. This feature basically allows you to play through the entire story again, retaining all your collectibles, weapons and upgrades. In order to unlock New Game+ which is called Challenge mode, you must first beat the campaign.

In New Game+ (Challenge mode) your Bolts will be multiplied, and you will be able to purchase Omega versions of All Weapons. You will also be able to level the Omega versions of your weapons up to Level 10 which will make them stronger and more powerful. To make a New Game+ (Challenge mode) save, you need to go to the 'Save Select' screen and press the Square button on your PlayStation controller. This will create a new save file that will have a star on it, denoting New Game+ (Challenge mode). Then just go to a Ms Zurkon vendor to purchase and upgrade your weapons.

How to Unlock the RYNO 8

The RYNO 8 is a recurring weapon in the Ratchet & Clank series, the name stands for 'Rip You a New One'. It is a special gun that allows you to summon items from other dimensions, slams them into the ground, and creates a purple shockwave that destroys anything nearby. It is the last weapon you will unlock in the game, and also the most powerful.

As you would expect, you will need to do some work in order to unlock the RYNO 8. In this case, you are required to find 10 Spybots. Once you manage to find them all, you will be contacted by Ms Zurkon about the availability of a new weapon. When you then visit any Ms Zurkon vendor on any planet, the RYNO 8 will be part of her catalog of available weapons, and you will be able to pick it up for free as a reward for collecting all the Spybots. You can use Raritanium to upgrade the RYNO 8 to make it even more powerful. Once you have the RYNO 8 you will also unlock the Aim to Misbehave Trophy for unlocking the weapon.

    Switch Weapons

It is important to remember that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was designed around using all your arsenal and not just a single weapon. Therefore, you need to be continuously experimenting with the different firearms you have available and leveling them up whenever possible in order to find new ways they can help you to deal with problematic situations. Continuously switching your weapons will also make you a difficult adversary for your enemies, as they will not know what to expect when you attack them.

How to Make Money (Get Bolts)

In Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart the main currency used are bolts and in order to buy every weapon available in the game you will need a lot of them. Obtaining these bolts is not difficult, it is simply a matter of progressing through the game smashing things. You will get the most bolts from smashing crates, other things scattered around each of the planets that will provide a small number of bolts when you destroy them include items disguised as electrical boxes, slime barrels, pots, lamps, railings, and even plants.

How to Make Money (Get Bolts)

    Spend your Bolts

You will have no difficulty finding bolts in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart as they are literally everywhere, you simply have to break everything around you to obtain them. Since it is so easy to get hold of bolts, there is no reason to hoard them. Make sure you regularly visit Ms Zurkon whenever you have a decent amount and spend them on whatever weapons she is offering. She often gets new weapons and if you have been smashing everything you come across during your progression in the game you will have no trouble affording at least one of them. These weapons can then be used to collect even more money.

    Keep Moving during Combat

As with previous installments in the Ratchet & Clank series, continually moving and shooting during combat encounters is the key to being successful. The most effective strategy is to strafe from side-to-side and use the jump button to acrobatically evade enemy fire. Try to find vantage points using Rift Tethers, so you quickly move from one side of a portal to the other. Doing this will also make it difficult for your enemies to shoot you as they will need to keep adjusting their aim.
