Question for Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory

When doing the elixer trick at the beginning of the game, shown in the submitted area, could I upgrade my character without messing up the whole trick?

No, I've done this also. You can upgrade whenever you wish. But I think that it is more fun if you wait until you have 90K+ Elixir Skin and then upgrade :P
NOTE THAT YOU CANNOT HOLD MORE THAN 99K ELIXIR SKIN
