start menue cheats

Ok I've tryed the cheats for the "start" menu multiple times but they don't work cause everytime I hit X I go to the next screen. So my question is: how can I sucsessfully input the cheats?

Try unlock jet car it dosent have a "X" in there and it helps to easily escape police officers
