You have to have your house upgrded all the way and have the big bed. When I played I didnt get married till the beginning of the fourth year. The boy actually proposes to you. Well that is what happened to me anyway.
Try to activate all the heart events(events when the boy/girl talks to you alone saying their feelings or asking something to you)first. if you did not unlock it all you might have a chance of losing the game. Your supposed to have upgraded your house two times... hope this really helps
You must have at least 2 beds in order to marry, it also requires a red heart from a girl by giving her/him what he/she likes, being married can add your percent approval,
