Surviving the Aftermath is a strategy management game where the objective is to survive and thrive in a post-apocalyptic future where resources are scarce. Build the ultimate disaster proof colony, protect your colonists, and restore civilization to a devastated world. Explore the wastelands to gather resources, meet rival colonies, and uncover the world's secrets. Recruit and outfit specialists with gear to defend the colony from attacking bandits and rampaging wildlife. Surviving the Aftermath is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Take a look at our tips to get help in the game.
Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include always scavenging for food and growing crops.
Make sure you are constantly scavenging for food in Surviving the Aftermath, as there is always a possibility that a catastrophic event or disaster will strike that will disrupt your food supply. Catastrophes include nuclear fallouts, pandemics and deadly events that can last anything from a few hours to days. Catastrophes can wither open fields instantly, so consider building greenhouses as soon as possible. Aside from foraging for berries near your starting location, the best way to scavenge for food is to look for abandoned farms and diners on the world map.
If you stick to just farming, fishing, or hunting, your colonists will become malnourished. You need to set up reliable and consistent food gathering methods that include multiple food groups. In the early game of Surviving the Aftermath, it is vital that you stock up on wood and plastic and set up work stations for them as soon as possible in order to advance the colony.
Once you are able to start exploring in Surviving the Aftermath, you will have the ability to gain Science Points. Earn the maximum amount of Science Points by sending out Scientist Specialists to research tasks in the Word. It is essential that you try to get as many Science Points as possible, as these can be spent on researching a variety of upgrades and new structures. In the early game you should prioritize medical and resource research tasks as doing so will help you to unlock pollution elimination, better treatment centers, and quicker or new resource-gathering methods.
Build Trappers as soon as possible as this food-producing building will continue to function normally during disasters but with reduced efficiency, also fishing huts if there are lakes nearby. By having these buildings in place, you will be able to provide your colony with a steady stream of venison and fish, respectively. Specialists can also hunt down wild animals for extra Meat that can be collected with a Food Storage.
Fields in Surviving the Aftermath are plots of land that have been set aside for agriculture. Providing the field is constructed on normal or preferably fertile soil, you will be able to grow different crops on it. Fields are free to build and come in three sizes (small, medium, and large) and although the crops will take a long time to grow they will provide large amounts of produce such as cabbage, potatoes, and corn when they are harvested. Always keep an eye out for areas of land that has fertile soil and is ideally located for growing crops.
You will see a lot of refugees asking to join you. Don't be afraid to turn everyone away while you only have 15 population. Make sure you evaluate each trait of every person coming in, inspect the Bounty Hunter that comes with the group if one does so. Early game, you must avoid taking children in as much as possible.
