• Improve your Skills at the Training Center

  If you are a beginner it is recommended that you take advantage of the new Training Center feature that has been added to FIFA 23 as this has been designed to hone your skills at the game.

  This mode is divided into chapters, with each one giving you goals to achieve that get more advanced and challenging as you progress. After each game that you play you will be given personalized feedback on how you can improve which is based on your performance.

• Master the Power Shots Mechanic

  A new shooting mechanic has been added to FIFA 23 called power shots, and it can be a deadly weapon on the pitch once mastered. These shots give you extra power and accuracy when shooting at a goal.

  The drawback when performing a power shot is they take longer to execute and require more precision when aiming. Power shots can make all the difference in a game so make sure you become proficient at properly performing them to get an extra advantage on the attack.

• Dead-Ball Situations

  Dead-ball situations such as free kicks, corners, and penalties have been overhauled in FIFA 23 to make them more closely resemble their real-life counterparts. This means they can play out differently from previous FIFA games which means you need to make sure you take the time to find out what is different, so you are able to perfect your technique in each scenario.

• Use Game Plans

  Game Plans is a feature in FIFA 23 that defines how your team plays. It allows you to instantly change your tactical setup halfway through a game without having to worry about positions, player roles, and transition plays. Whether you want your team to go forward in an attempt to score or shut out the game and hang onto a lead you will be able to do so with Game Plans.

  Game Plans can be accessed from the Team Management screen, all you need to do is select a pre-made example and tweak it to your needs. Then during a game you can quickly activate a Game Plan by pressing your Left or Right controllers directional control pad to cycle through them. Once activated your team will instantly adapt to fulfill their new roles.

• Protect the Ball

  It is important that you shield and protect the ball whenever one of your players has possession. This can be done by holding LT/L2 on your controller to hunch over the ball and keep your back to defenders.

  This is especially useful as a first touch, and when winning the ball from the air. You will find that by tapping shield for a second will often bring the ball closer to your player which will make it easier to hold onto.
