Don't Starve: Console Edition Cheats and Tips

Rabbits run in an erratic fashion when you go them making them difficult to catch. A way you can guarantee catching them is to place traps directly over their rabbit holes so they are snagged the moment they emerge. Rabbits can be converted into morsels and cooked to keep your hunger in check. Remember that each trap has 8 uses so place it straight back down for the next catch.

Finding gold takes a priority over nearly everything as it is an important component in a vast selection of advancements. There are three main ways that you can find this valuable resource. You can mine it, excavate graves in graveyards, and by finding a pig king who will grant you one gold nugget everytime you bring him suitable food, such as morsels from rabbis or fish.

Make sure you always keep an eye out for berries and carrots as you explore as this is the easiest way to avaoid a hunger crisis. Remember though that food perishes and keep in mind when exploring the land that food in swamp and rocky landscapes will be very scarce.

Make sure you construct a Science Machine for your base as soon as posible as doing so will open up a new set of items in the Crafting menu. You will need to use the Science Machine to construct a prototype of any item you create. The Science Machine can by used to get you to self-sufficiency by farms to grow crops.

The most effective tactic when engaging enemies is to allow them to get close enough so they begin their attack animation, then quickly move out of range until it ends. There will be a brief window of opportunity at this point to counter the attack before the enemy can begin a new attack. Just keep repeating this process until your foe is defeated. If however you are being attacked by more than one enemy you need to maneuver them together so you don't get surrounded and then try and diminish their numbers by luring them into traps and the path of other creatures.

Earn the indicated amount of Exp to unlock the corresponding character. You will earn 20 Experience points each day you survive. Wes and Maxwell can only be unlocked through playing Adventure mode.

Wendy:

Survive a total of 32 days (640 Exp).

Wickerbottom:

Survive a total of 64 days (1280 Exp).

Willow:

Survive a total of 8 days (160 Exp).

Wolfgang:

Survive a total of 16 days (320 Exp).

Woodie:

Survive a total of 80 days (1600 Exp).

WX-78:

Survive a total of 48 days (960 Exp).

Maxwell:

Complete Adventure mode.

Wes:

Find a rescue Wes in Adventure mode. Whether he spawns or not is random.
