#1: Saint George
According to legend St. George was a soldier in the Roman army who was sentenced to death for failing to recant his Christian faith. The most famous story of Saint George is of him slaying a dragon that was terrorising the people of the city of Silene and saving the princess in peril. Saint George is the patron saint of England and is associated with bravery and honour. His memorial, Sant George's Day, is traditionally celebrated on April 23.
#2: King Arthur
Arthur was a legendary British king who was a symbol of chivalry, justice and order. He was a historical figure in early medieval ages who led the defence of Britain against Saxon invaders. There are many tales about King Arthur, his knights of the Round Table and their numerous quests. King Arthur lived in a mythical castle called Camelot and possessed a sword known as Excalibur which was given to him by the Lady of the Lake.
#3: Batman (The Dark Knight)
Often refered to as the Dark Knight, Batman is a fictional superhero that appears in American comic books published by DC comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and first appeard in Detective Comics #27 which was published in 1939. After witnessing the death of his parents a young Bruce Wayne swears to avenge their deaths. Costumed as a bat to prey on criminals fears and utilising a high-tech arsenal Bruce Wayne becomes the legendary Batman and protector of Gotham City.
#4: Joan of Arc
Known as 'The Maid of Orleans', Joan of Arc is a holy saint of France and lady knight who became the symbol of French resistance against English invasion during the 100 years war. Joan of Arc died when she was 19 when she was captured by Burgundians and burned at the stake by English troops in Rouen in 1941. St. Joan of Arc is the patroness of soldiers and of France.
#5: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Knight)
Obi-Wan 'Ben' Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise who is a legendary Jedi Master gifted in the ways of the Force. He trained Anakin Skywalker who later turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader and served as a general in the Republic Army during the Clone Wars. He also guided Luke Skywalker as a mentor before he was slain by his former apprentice, Darth Vader.
