Pokemon Unite is a free-to-play, multipler online battle arena (MOBA) with matches consisting of two teams of five players. The game map is split into two halves, with multiple control points each. The objective is to score points for your team by catching AI Wild Pokemon, and move towards one of the control points to score 'goals'. During battles, you will need to cooperate with teammates in order to defeat opponents' Pokemon and earn more points than the opposing team within the allotted time. Don't be Afraid to Retreat
There will be instances where you will be confronted by multiple opponents intent on stealing your spot. When this happens, and you feel you will be unable to fend them off, you should consider retreating. There is no shame in retreating, as doing so will enable you to avoid the lengthy respawn timer and keep hold of the points you have accumulated catching Wild Pokemon.
Purchase Held Items to get Boosts in Battle
In Pokemon Unite you will earn Aeos Coins which are essential for unlocking Pokemon and also purchasing Held Items at the in-game store. It is important that you buy Held Items as they provide small stat boosts and various perks for your Pokemon. This include things such as providing you with free XP and improving your Hit points (HP). When the correct Held Items are used by your Pokemon during battle you will notice a significant boost on the battlefield.
Choose Perfect Companion Pokemon
Pokemon Unite is a 5v5, team based game where you control your individual Pokemon while your teammates control theirs. At the launch of Pokemon Unite players had the choice of more than 20 companion Pokemon, each with their own specialities. As with most Pokemon games it is essential that the companion Pokemon you select suits your personal playstyle. When making your selection, you should also take into consideration your team composition to ensure your party is balanced. If you are a new player with no knowledge of Pokemon it is recommended that you pick Snorlax who is a melee defender that is great for beginners.
Don't Ignore Wild Pokemon
While searching for enemy players to engage in battle it is important that you make sure you don't ignore the wild Pokemon scattred across the map that you encounter during a match as you can catch them for the Aeos Energy they are carrying. As you level up the wild Pokemon around the map will also level up with some of them even evolving to offer more Aeos Energy. There are also certain Pokemon such as Drednaw, Bouffalant, Rotom, and Ludicolo who will also offer extra buffs on top of the Aeos Engery they drop which are essential in advancing on opponents goals and disrupting them from scoring on your own goals. Getting as much Aeos is beneficial as it can be used to gain random rewards from the Energy Machine. Random rewards may include cosmetic items and useful supplies.
How to Choose the Right Pokemon
In Pokemon Unite each of the Pokemon you obtain will have a difficulty rating that will range from novice to expert. Don't worry too much about this, what is important is that you use a Pokemon class that works for your personal playstyle, whether that is melee, ranged, speedster, or support. It is therefore recommended that you experiment with each of the Pokemon you unlock in order to determine this. Also by playing with each of the different species and becoming familiar with them will ensure you have several Pokemon of different classes that work for you. You will find this beneficial when you consider only one Pokemon of each species can be used per team in battle and your favorite may not always be available.
Don't Fight Near Enemy Goal Zones
Avoid engaging in combat with enemy Pokemon that lurk near their Goal Zones as it offers them a shield and restores their HP. You can't ignore these enemies as you need to score points, therefore the best solution is to try to stun them or force them backward with other skills.
Catch Wild Pokemon to Level Up
Catching the Wild Pokemon you encounter is an easy way to level up and earn XP in Pokemon Unite. This is something you should focus on doing if you are a low-level player, as it gives your Pokemon the opportunity to get stronger before you start chasing down real players. If you are a new player, you should use these NPCs to experiment with the different skills of your Pokemon and get familiar with the mechanics of the game.
Always Check the Events and Challenges Tabs for Rewards
Pokemon Unite will not always alert you whenever you earn rewards from playing, so it is important to regularly check the Events, Challenges, and XX tabs to see what rewards you have available. Just by playing the daily, weekly, and other challenges will allow you to earn things like in-game currency, new Pokemon, and even clothing. You can also earn these prizes just for checking in every day so make sure you check to see what you have earned regularly.
Pay Attention to your Attacks
In Pokemon Unite every player starts a match at Level 1 and will level up as they engage in battles with enemy Pokemon and score points. Many of the Pokemon when they level up will evolve and learn new, more powerful moves that will equip them to take on the higher level wild Pokemon that appear during the match. It is therefore important that you keep an eye out for the new attack pings, so you can make a mental note of what new moves you have available, as trying to navigate through your options to see what you have during the middle of a battle is not easy to do.
How to Unlock New Pokemon
Pokemon Unite is different from other games in the Pokemon series in that it doesn't revolve around catching new Pokemon but instead adding new Pokemon to your battle roster by unlocking it's license. This is achieved either through play, rewards, or buying the Pokemon from the store using in-game currency. Once you have obtained a Pokemon's license, it becomes a permanent part of your battle Pokedex.
Yellow Monster Icons
Make sure as you play Pokemon Unite you keep an eye out for the little yellow monster icons that occasionally appear at the top and bottom of the map. These yellow monster icons indicate that a useful, powerful Pokemon has appeared and once beaten will help your team fight against the opposition. It is therefore crucial that you prioritize grabbing these allies for your team as quickly as possible.
MVP strategy
To become mvp on your team, start by going, defeating lilipup and all the other Pok�?©mon in that area till you evolve you may take trips to defeat other Pok�?©mon, but no KOs yet, once you evolve go to the busiest path and try to get some KOs. Then once you evolve again return to home base and defeat all the Pok�?©mon around you, you may score points at any time in this process, but if you have 40 in the second minute, wait till Zapdos appears to score your 100 points! After that go to the central area with zapdos and try to defeat Zapdos with your unite move to start, if you do, go score 100 more points, if you donâ�?�?t beat Zapdos, return to base and try to get some KOs before time runs out.
