Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet are role-playing games that are part of the Pokemon franchise which take place in the Paldea region of the Pokemon universe. It is an open world that includes both urban areas and open wildeness without borders between the two, unlike previous installments in the Pokemon series. There are three routes from which to choose from - Path of Legends, Victory Road and Starfall Stree and each covers a different storyline.

Attend Classes

In Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet you are able to attend school classes, and it is recommended that you do so in order to complete the various gameplay tutorials on offer and earn some rewards at the same time. All you need to do to enroll in classes is visit the school and speak to the lady at the front desk. Aside from gameplay tutorials you will learn the lore and history of the Paldea region.

Going North is Dangerous

Keep in mind that the further North you head in the Paldea region the more difficult the game will be. This is because you will begin to encounter higher level Pokemon and Trainers. It is therefore recommended that you stay near the Southern point of the island where you start the game until you are ready to venture North.

Unlock New Powers for Koraidon or Miraidon

Once the Naranja Academy Treasure Hunt begins you will be able to select where you want to go. There are three quests from which to choose from, you can fight Titan Pokemon in the Path of Legends, fight gym leaders in Victory Road, or fight members of Team Star in Starfall Street. You will want to do all three of these quests but it is recommended that you begin by doing Path of Legends where you fight Titan Pokeman with Arven. Each of Arven's five Herba Mystica quests will grant Koraidon or Miraidon a new form of travel.

Don't Forget to Collect your Pokedex Rewards

As with all Pokemon games your ultimate goal is to complete the Pokedex. Whenever you hit certain milestones in Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet you will be given rewards for hitting certain milestones. In order to claim those rewards you need to open your Pokedex and press X. For every 10 volumes, you will get items ranging from Poke Balls to XP candies.

Best Way to Make Money

In Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet trainers will not challenge you. The only way you can fight a trainer is to approach them and speak to them. This is something you should do regularly because aside from the EXP you gain it's the best way to make money in the games. You will not make any money fighting wild Pokemon, and it is important that you have a decent amount of money available for the next time want to buy Potions and Pokeballs.

You Need Badges to Control High-Level Pokemon

Although it is possible to go to high-level areas in Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet and capture level 50 Pokemon you will discover that they will not follow your orders. For them to obey your commands you need to have gym badges and the only way you can obtain these are by beating gym leaders. If you capture low-level Pokemon and level them up they will do what you tell them. Basically the level of Pokemon you can catch and control is based on how many badges you have.

Use Fast Travel

Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet both use fast travel, and it is a feature you should take advantage whenever possible to get around Paldea quickly. Once you find a Pokemon Center, you can fly there. If you pull up the map, and you see a feather icon on a Pokemon center it indicates that you've unlocked fast travel for that location. Keep in mind that you can't fast travel while indoors.
