Pokemon Diamond is yet another installment of the Pokemon Series. This game features over one hundred brand new Pokemon, in the new world of Sinnoh. This is the first DS Pokemon game that is like the ones for the GBC and GBA. The goal is the same: become the world's greatest Pokemon Trainer.
Pokemon Diamond kept all the new graphics from FireRed and Sapphire, but added a 3-D effect. This shows the clear difference between this game and previous Pokemon games. However, the Pokemon themselves have made very little improvement. They are still in 2-D format, which is a pro and con.
Pokemon games have never been one to have amazing background music or sound effects. Pokemon Diamond is no different. All of the previous Pokemon have kept their "cry", and there is still the basic style of Pokemon music in every town. The sound aspect of this game is not good, and will probably never improve.
All Pokemon games follow the same basic storyline: Choose your starter, catch Pokemon, defeat Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, and maybe take out an evil organization. Of course, Pokemon Diamond stayed true to this, making it yet another Pokemon game that eventually becomes monotonous.
The odds of someone not beating the game within a week of purchase is fairly low. The addition of Wi-Fi trading and battling helps keep some players interested and allows for them to strive to complete their Pokedex. Most people, however, will get sick of this game after two weeks or so.
Overall, this game gets a seven. It is fairly underwhelming. If you have bought the previous Pokemon games and are a fan, then this game is for you. However, this is not one of those games that all DS owners must have. Only a few games get that status, and Pokemon Diamond is far from it.
