There is a possibility that 'Staggering' will occur in Patapon 2 every time an enemy is hit by an attack. If it is a normal enemy they will be knocked back and momentarily stunned, the same thing will happen to bosses but there is also a chance that they will drop materials. The lower the enemy is in HP, the higher the chance of them staggering in a given hit, and there's certain weapons and certain rarepons that have an increased chance of staggering a target. It is therefore essential in order to get as many materials as possible that you try and stagger a boss whenever possible.
In order to unlock Patapon classes in Patapon 2 you need to use the Evolution Map, which is basically a skill tree. You begin by unlocking Pyopyo followed by Kibapon.
