The easiest way to earn money in Desert Child is to add the Money Magnet and Money Hack to your hoverbike and make sure you junction the power cells, get this done at the Wireless Hills garage as it is cheaper than Dorothy Street.
Collect as many cash TVs as you can in every race as this is the best way to earn money. You can earn a lot of money by throwing a race, but you can only do this once every four game days. Make sure you regularly deposit your money in the bank in order to keep it safe from the police and also gain interest.
In Desert Child your Notoriety level will increase whenever you perform illegal activities, such as stealing bike parts, and hacking a bank. Once your Notoriety reaches a certain level you will come to the attention of the police who will come after you, where if captured, you will lose all of your money that isn’t in the bank. To prevent this from happening it is recommended you bank your money before your Notoriety level gets too high. The bank provides 3% interest daily to money deposited.
Avoid taking damage to your hoverbike whenever possible because the more damage it sustains the less Boost bars will be available to you during the race.
It is important that you do not let your Hunger level get low in Desert Child as you will find that it is directly proportional to how quickly you regenerate your boost. Basically, the more hungry you are, the slower the regeneration rate.
To get the Tony Jones achievement/trophy you need to buy every newspaper. You will not be able to get this achievement/trophy until you reach Mars. Once you get to Mars you need to walk left and look for the kid that can be found to the left of the Olympia arches who is selling newspapers. All you then need to do is buy a newspaper from him every day until the achievement/trophy unlocks.
To get the Vicious achievement/trophy you need to fend off the police without being shot. On Chapter 2 you have to reach a high status of notoriety by doing 'illegal activities' in the Nightlife District, so the police become aware of you and chase after you when they see you in the streets. All you basically need to do is avoid their bullets, so you do not get hit but allow the police to catch you during the hoverbike race.
The best way to do this is to remain at the bottom of the screen but keep firing, so the police don't get near you but you slowly lose speed until they are 'ahead' of you.
