In order to level up so that you become stronger in Anthem you need to earn XP. The best way to get XP fast and also unlock new gear and weapons for your Javelin at the same time is to complete the main story missions.

Playing with friends you are in sync with via the Alliance stystem and completing missions can earn you bonus XP. Another way to earn XP quickly is by grinding Quickplay mode by joining in-progress missions, or by playing Anthem on a harder difficulty which will reward you with XP bonuses.

Check out the bulleting board near Yarrow and complete contracts as a Freelancer, these are basically side missions that reward you XP along with new gear and weapons when you successfully complete them. You can also complete Expeditions Feats, mini challenges inside missions that are accessed during a mission that is in progress and will grant you bonus XP at the end.
