Question for God of War Collection: God of War

I beat Euryale and have the Euryale head showing on my power-up screen, however, even with full and upgraded magic meter, the game quit letting me equip it shortly after I first collected it. I tap the directional pad but can only equip my other magic weapons. I can power-up the Euryale head but not use it.
