Everytime I die I restart at the beginning of the boletarian castle. Is there no checkpoints that save my spot or am I always going to have to start back at the beginning? Cause the game is starting to piss me off! It seems as though the makers expect me to get through the whole castle in one try? Also how do I get help from the other online souls like it tells to take advantage of when I start up the game in order to get past harder parts with more ease?

Okay, I'll try to help, but there's not much I can do here. I would reccomend starting out as a knight class; you get a good weapon (the long sword is the good one, mail breaker is garbage) and you get the kite shield, which is the best shield available to starting classes as it blocks 100% of physical damage. The armor you start out with can greatly help with defense this early in the game, OR removed for enhanced mobility. To answer your question, the first checkpoint is the Phalanx archstone, which you have to defeat the demon Phalanx to access (but it sounds like you haven't beaten him yet.) Until you beat Phalanx, you will start at the beginning of Boletarian Palace every time you die. About the online part, I believe Demon's Souls was taken offline because it is old, but I have never even played online, so I can't be sure because I just heard that somewhere. Don't worry though, I have played through this game 27 times on the same file without using multiplayer, have a platinum trophy, and will be happy to answer any more questions that you have. One final tip: this game can be difficult, and you have to constantly pay attention to your enemies; even a moment's distraction can mean death in Demon's Souls, so stay vigilant and don't give up!
Demon's Souls only has checkpoints after you beat the level boss. Dying before killing it will put you back to the beginning. Starting with a class such as the Thief or Wanderer can be helpful, as they have quick rolls and that's really all you need to stay alive.
Demon's Souls is still very much online, and will remain so as long as people continue to play it.
