1.                               Introduction

===============================================================================


As with the previous game, there are two modes to choose from: Story mode and
classic mode. Story mode has three difficulty levels, although some players are
likely to be disappointed about the extremely easy difficulty, even on the
hardest setting. In nearly every goal, you are told excactly which buttons to
press and are normally lined up right in front of the target. A shame, as the
large levels would have allowed for some very creative goals. Classic mode has
returned, with a mix of levels from previous Tony Hawk games. Difficulty is
slightly higher in this mode, but experienced players will breeze through it.

Disappointments aside, there is still much to appreciate here. The game, though
not being one complete level (there are playable load-tunnels between levels),
does feel like one large city, and it's great to just be able to skate where
you want instead of having to select a level from a list. There are shops to
buy haircuts, clothes and accessories, new moves to perform and plenty of
variations on old moves like the natas spin combos. And of course the addition
of BMX biking, something that is tricky to get used to but great when learnt.
Overall this is a solid title, and while not matching up to the quality of the
previous Tony Hawk games, still contains enough new additions to be enjoyable.

2.                                 Abilities

===============================================================================


CAVEMAN

Available after completing the Learn to Caveman goal in Hollywood. While off
the board, jump and press R1 + L1 to Caveman. This trick is great for combos,
as you can go straight from a manual into a Caveman.


GRIND

Available from the start of the game. A variety of basic grinds can be achieved
by holding triangle and a direction on the d-pad while jumping onto a grindable
surface. A second set of grinds can be found by double tapping triangle as soon
as you jump onto the grind. To switch between grinds while on a ledge or rail,
double tap the shape buttons. For example, square twice or circle, triangle.


FLIP TRICKS

Available from the start of the game. Jump anywhere and hold square and a
direction on the d-pad. For double or triple variations of a flip trick, press
the square button two or three times.


GRAB TRICKS

Available from the start of the game. Jump anywhere and hold circle and a
direction on the d-pad. Press the circle button twice for variations.


LIP TRICKS

Available from the start of the game. Approach the lip of a quarter pipe while
riding straight toward it and press triangle and a direction on the d-pad. As
with grinds, variations can be achieved with combinations of the shape buttons.


TO-TAIL

Available from the start of the game. Launch up from a quarter pipe and hold
triangle and down in the air to clip the lip with the tail on the way down. You
can still do tricks in the air before performing the to-tail.


MANUAL

Available after completing the Kickflip Whofleck goal in Hollywood. A very
useful ability which enables the skater to be able to link different tricks.
Just ride along and press down, up or up, down to manual.


BOARD WHACK

Available from the start of the game. Get off the board and press circle to
whack an object with the board. Some objects award small point bonuses.


BOARD THROW

Available from the start of the game. Similar to the board whack, but hold
square to throw the board. Tap square again to find another board.


FINGER FLIP

Available from the start of the game. Tap R2 twice while walking to finger
flip. A nice looking move that is purely for show, as no points are awarded.


REVERT

Available after completing the Learn to Revert goal in Hollywood. Launch up
from a quarter pipe and hold R2 just after landing to revert. You can continue
the combo by performing a manual after the revert.


NOLLIE PRESSURE

Available from the start of the game. Hold R2 and ollie to pressure. Try out
some directions on the d-pad for different pressure flip tricks.


NO COMPLY

Available from the start of the game. Hold X, tap up on the d-pad and then
release X to no comply.


GRAFFITI TAG

Available from the start of the game. Hold triangle to spray a graffiti tag on
the floor or on a wall. If you find Mutan, you can create your own tag.


NATAS SPIN

Available after completing the Learn the Natas Spin goal in Beverly Hills. Jump
onto any pole in the game and hold R1 + triangle to natas spin. Try out some
shape button combinations for different natas spin variations.


STICKER SLAP

Available after completing the Learn some wall tricks goal in Beverly Hills.
Jump toward a wall and hold down + X to sticker slap.


WALL PLANT

Available after completing the Learn some wall tricks goal in Beverly Hills.
Jump toward a wall and hold X to sticker slap.


VERT WALL PLANT

Available after completing the Learn some wall tricks goal in Beverly Hills.
Launch up from a quarter pipe with a wall above it and press up + X.


WALL RIDE

Available after completing the Learn some wall tricks goal in Beverly Hills.
Ride toward a wall at an angle, jump and then press triangle to wallride. You
can then wallie (X) while on the wallride much higher than a normal jump.


SPINE TRANSFER

Available after completing the Learn Spines, Flips, Rolls, Acid Drops, Banks
goal in Beverly Hills. Hold R2 in the air after riding up a quarter pipe with
another quarter pipe leading down on the other side, known as a spine.


FLIPS

Available after completing the Learn Spines, Flips, Rolls, Acid Drops, Banks
goal in Beverly Hills. Hold circle while in the air and tap down or up twice to
flip. You can rotate while flipping by holding L1 or R1.


ROLLS

Available after completing the Learn Spines, Flips, Rolls, Acid Drops, Banks
goal in Beverly Hills. Hold circle while in the air and tap left or right twice
to roll. You can rotate while rolling by holding L1 or R1.


ACID DROP

Available after completing the Learn Spines, Flips, Rolls, Acid Drops, Banks
goal in Beverly Hills. Jump off a surface which has a quarter pipe below and
hold R2 while in the air to acid drop.


BANK DROP

Available after completing the Learn Spines, Flips, Rolls, Acid Drops, Banks
goal in Beverly Hills. Jump toward a small bank and hold R2 to bank drop.


WALL RUN

Available after completing the Learn Parkour tricks goal in Beverly Hills.
Jump off the board and run up a wall by holding R1.


WALL FLIP

Available after completing the Learn Parkour tricks goal in Beverly Hills.
While running up a wall, hold X + down and press X to wall flip off.


SHIMMY

Available after completing the Learn Parkour tricks goal in Beverly Hills.
Hold onto a wall by holding R1 and move left or right to shimmy.


BACK TUCK

Available after completing the Learn Parkour tricks goal in Beverly Hills.
Jump while off the board and press X in the air to back tuck.


FRONT TUCK

Available after completing the Learn Parkour tricks goal in Beverly Hills.
Jump while running forward and press X in the air to front tuck.


BONELESS

Available after completing the Learn the Boneless and Boned Ollie goal in
Beverly Hills. Hold X, tap up twice on the d-pad and release X to boneless.


BONED OLLIE

Available after completing the Learn the Boneless and Boned Ollie goal in
Beverly Hills. Ollie while riding and tap X again to do a boned ollie. This
gives slightly more height and distance in the air.


BERT SLIDE

Available after completing the Learn the Bert Slide from Iggy goal at the Skate
Ranch. Hold R1 and press left or right while riding. Hold L1 at the same time
as the bert slide to spin.


SKITCH

Available after completing the Skitch Sanchez goal at the Skate Ranch. Hold up
behind a vehicle to hold onto the back of it.


STALL

Available after completing the Learn the Board Stall goal in Downtown. Jump
onto a rail and hold R2 + triangle to stall the grind. You can perform
variations of the stall by pressing combinations of the shape buttons.


SPECIAL

Available after completing the Learn Special and Focus goal in Downtown. Select
Your Progress - View Tricks - Special Tricks to view the special tricks that
are currently available. When the special bar is full, the tricks displayed on
the list can be performed, and give many more points than normal tricks.


FOCUS

Available after completing the Learn Special and Focus goal in Downtown. Press
the left analog stick when the special bar is full to enter focus mode, which
gives increased balance on manuals and grinds.


FLATLAND

Available after completing the Learn Flatland from the skateclub goal in
Beverly Hills. While in a manual, press combinations of the shape buttons to
perform flatland variations.

4.                           Story Mode Walkthrough

4.1.                               Hollywood
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------


CHANGE YOUR LOOK

Run forward into the barber shop and press the circle button near the barber.
Select a new hair style and exit the shop to complete the goal.


CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES

Run into the clothes shop and press the circle button near the manager. Select
new clothes and exit the shop to complete the goal.


LEARN TO CAVEMAN

1: Press L1 + R1 to get off the board and L1 + R1 again to Caveman.

2: Jump and grind the red rope.

3: Get off the board and jump to a grind on the red rope.


DO A SPONSOR CHALLENGE

After talking to Mindy, read the board outside the skate shop and accept the
sponsor challenge list. Complete one or more of the challenges to receive a
text from Mindy, which explains that you should follow the pink star on the
compass to meet her back at the skate shop.


KICKFLIP WHOFLECK

1: Ride forward and kickflip (left + square) over Whofleck.

2: Manual (up + down) three times.

3: Manual from the star of Tony Hawk to the star of Tony Alva. To end the
   manual, either ollie (X) or lean forward.


LEARN TO REVERT

1: Ride up the quarter pipe, and on the way back down press R2 just after
   landing to revert.

2: Revert on the quarter pipe again and then quickly press up + down to manual.
   Land the manual to complete the goal.


GET YOUR STUFF BACK

1: Beat the skater's score on the half pipe.

2: Get off the board and run forward to the area with the steps. Stand near the
   right ledge and press circle to hit the skater.


GET INTO BEVERLY HILLS

Score the required points three times on the half pipe to complete the goal.
Remember to use the revert to manual to link together moves from one side of
the half pipe to the other side.


BIKE CHALLENGES

1: Use the bike at the top-left corner of the level to talk to Rick Thorne.
   Ride the bike for 30 seconds.

2: Jump and press left or right on the right analog stick to tailwhip. Tailwhip
   three times to complete the goal.

3: Jump and press up on the right analog stick to crank flip three times.

4: Jump and press down on the right analog stick to barspin three times.

5: Jump and press circle to x-up three times.

6: Jump and press square to tabletop three times.

7: Ride forward and jump 180 by pressing left or right on the left analog
   stick. While riding backwards, press R2 to switch to forwards. 180 while
   riding backwards four times.

8: Hold L2 and press left or right on the left analog stick to do three 360s.

9: Hold L2 and press up or down on the left analog stick to do three flips.

10: Hold L2 and press up or down on the left analog stick. While flipping, hold
    diagonally down on the left analog stick to flair twice.

11: Jump and hold up on the right analog stick to double crank flip three
    times.

12: Jump and hold down on the right analog stick to double barspin three times.

13: Jump and hold left or right on the right analog stick to double tailwhip.

14: Hold down on the left analog stick and manual for five seconds.

15: Jump and tabletop (square), and then land in a manual by holding down on
    the left analog stick.

16: Manual and decade three times by pressing left or right on the right analog
    stick.

17: Manual and crankflip three times by pressing up on the right analog stick.

18: Manual and barspin three times by pressing down on the right analog stick.

19: Manual and x-up three times by pressing circle.

20: Nose manual by holding forward on the left analog stick and then tailwhip
    three times by pressing left or right on the right analog stick.

21: Nose manual and crankflip three times by pressing up on the right analog
    stick.

22: Ride forward and endo three times by pressing L1.

23: Manual and then pivot three times by pressing R2.

24: Jump and double peg grind down the rail by pressing triangle. Double peg
    grind the ledge near the bottom of the rail.

25: Icepick grind two objects by holding down on the left analog stick before
    pressing triangle.

26: Toothpick grind two objects by holding up on the left analog stick before
    pressing triangle.

27: Feeble grind two objects by holding down half way on the left analog stick
    before pressing triangle.

28: Smith grind two objects by holding up half way on the left analog stick
    before pressing triangle.

29: Rail stall five objects by holding R2 before pressing triangle.

30: Ride up a quarter pipe with a platform or ledge above it and press R1 while
    in the air to tire tap. Perform two tire taps.

31: Ride up a quarter pipe with a platform or ledge above it and press L1 while
    in the air to tire tap. Perform two tire taps.

32: Bank drop (R2) three times over the bank in the middle of the road.

33: Spine transfer three times from one quarter pipe to another quarter pipe.

34: Jump toward a wall and press X to wall plant the wall five times.

35: Jump 180 to fakie, jump toward a wall and press X to tail tap the wall five
    times.

36: Jump at an angle toward a wall and press triangle to wallride the wall five
    times.

37: Jump 180 to fakie, jump at an angle toward a wall and press triangle to
    backwards wallride the wall five times.

LEARN THE NATAS SPIN

Hold R1 + triangle while jumping onto one of the poles to Natas Spin. Natas
Spin on the other pole to complete the goal.


LEARN PARKOUR TRICKS

1: Jump onto the wall and wall run (R1).

2: Wall run up the wall, hold X + Down and then release X to wall flip.

3: Jump and press R1 to grab onto the top of the wall. Shimmy right to the
   first marker and then shimmy left to the second marker.

4: Jump and press X while in the air to back tuck.

5: Jump while running forward and press X while in the air to front tuck.


LEARN SPINES, FLIPS, ROLLS, ACID DROPS, BANKS

1: Ride up the quarter pipe and spine transfer (R2) over to the quarter pipe on
   top of the roof. Spine transfer two more spines on the roof.

2: Ride up the quarter pipe, hold circle while in the air and either back flip
   (down, down) or front flip (up, up).

3: Ride up the quarter pipe, hold circle while in the air and roll (left, left
   or right, right).

4: Run up the bank at the edge of the roof and acid drop (R2) down to the
   quarter pipe below.

5: Ride up the small bank and bank transfer (R2) to the other side.


LEARN THE BONELESS AND BONED OLLIE

1: Tap up twice on the d-pad and then release X to Boneless three times.

2: Ollie and press X while in the air to do a Boned Ollie three times.


LEARN SOME WALL TRICKS

1: Jump toward the wall and sticker slap (X) it. Ride over to the other side of
   the road and sticker slap the next wall. Do one more sticker slap.

2: Similar to the sticker slap, but this time hold down and X to footplant. Do
   this three times on the walls.

3: Jump toward the wall at an angle and press triangle to wallride. You can
   jump from the wallride to reach higher places.


IMPRESS MURPHY

Wall run up the wall, hold X + Down and then release X to wall flip. Before
landing, press R1 + triangle to natas spin on the pole.


IMPRESS BOONE

Spine transfer (R2) to nosegrab (up + circle) to front flip (circle + up, up)
over the spine to complete the goal.


IMPRESS DAVE

1: Ride across the road and sticker slap (X) the wall. Land in a manual (up,
   down) and then wall plant (down + X) the wall on the other side of the road.

2: Ride up the quarter pipe and grind left along the ledge. Jump right at the
   gap and wallride (triangle) the wall above the gap.

4.3.                              Skate Ranch
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------


SKITCH SANCHEZ

Hold up on the d-pad to skitch Sanchez and balance by pressing left and right.
You don't have to balance the entire way. If you fall off, just go back to
where Sanchez stopped and skitch again. At Beverly Hills, get off the board and
smack (circle) the sign. Skitch Sanchez to Hollywood and smack the second sign.
Ride back to the skate ranch to complete the goal.


LEARN THE BERT SLIDE FROM IGGY

1: Hold X + R1 and then press left or right to bert slide.

2: Hold R1 from the start of the half pipe and bert slide off the other end.

3: Drop into the half pipe and bert slide over the top of the gap. Try and go
   high on the bert slide as there is an extension above the gap.

4.4.                             Hollywood 2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------


BUY THE DINO HEAD

Talk to the workman and offer to buy the dinosaur head. If you don't have
enough money yet, complete some of the cash or graffiti challenges scattered
around the levels. Select yes to travel back to the skate ranch.

4.5.                           Beverly Hills 2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------


GET THE 69 GAS STATION SIGN

Spine transfer up to the roof of the gas station and then launch from the small
kicker ramp to a sticker slap on the price sign.


GET THE NAKED LADY STATUE

Get off the board and climb up the ladder on the quarter pipe platform. Break
through the glass at the top and drop down to the courtyard. Launch up from
the fountain base at the other end of the courtyard to collect the key. Ride
back to the gate. Grind around the statue base to complete the goal.


GET THE GREEN TOP

Repeatedly press X to raise the power bar high enough to complete the goal.


GET THE METAL AWNING

Use the star map to launch up to the awning and perform all of the grinds that
Murphy calls out to complete the goal.

4.6.                             Hollywood 3
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------


GET THE VELVET RED ROPES

Jump left from the truck and grind the red rope. Grind all the way to the end
and then jump into the back of the truck to complete the goal.


GET THE GIANT RECORD NEEDLE

Climb up to the top of the ladder and grind all the way down the building.


HELP MR. D. GET INTO DOWNTOWN

Grind the ledge, jump off at the corner and bank drop down to the car below.


GET SOME STARS

Grind the tips of all of the shovels and then bank drop the three banks.


GET THE RADIO TOWER

1: Ride through the theater doors to arrive on the roof. Grind up, around and
   down the support wires of the radio tower.

2: Jump from the top of the ramp and footplant the radio tower.

3: Jump from the ramp onto the tower. Get off the board, run to the end of the
   radio tower and natas spin on the tip for five seconds to complete the goal.

4.7.                               Downtown
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------


LOOSEN THE PYRAMID!

1: Climb up the ladder and natas spin the middle pyarmid. Perform the commands
   that are shown on screen.

2: Climb up the ladder and smack the pyramid two times to complete the goal.


KICK OFF THE BELL

1: Launch up from the fountain edge to a natas spin on top of the bell. Perform
   the commands that are shown on screen.

2: Wallplant on the bell to complete the goal.


LEARN THE BOARD STALL

1: Turn slightly right to see a quarter pipe at the right side of the road.
   Jump and hold R2 + Triangle to rail stall on the lip of the quarter pipe.

2: Launch left from the quarter pipe and stall on top of the freeway sign.


HELP JOEY B. GET TO THE MANHOLE

1: Melon (left + circle), benihana (down + left + circle) and sacktap (down +
   left + circle, circle) from the ramp and bank drop to the road ramp.


SMASH THE CHINATOWN TOWER!

1: Grind the lip of the quarter pipe through the green tower.

2: Grind twice around the quarter pipe and then jump under the green tower.


LEARN SPECIAL AND FOCUS

1: Grind all the way along the loading dock.

2: Grind the loading dock and press the left analog stick (L3) to switch to
   focus mode. Jump off the end of the loading dock and manual.

3: Tailblock slide (down + left + triangle) the loading dock.

4: Grind the loading dock and switch to focus mode. 360 Hardflip (up + left +
   triangle, triangle) over the dumpster at the end of the dock.


KNOCK THE FIRE ESCAPE DOWN

Skitch the car and tap down near the end of the road to release the car. Launch
up from the quarter pipe and lip trick the three parts of the fire escape.

GET INTO THE TONY HAWK AMJAM

Beat the two combos shown by the other skater.


PAY THE FEE AND GET SPONSORED

Pay the money required for the entrance fee to complete the goal.


WIN THE TONY HAWK AMJAM

Stay in the first three rounds of the competition and win the final round. Ride
back to the Skate Ranch after completing the goal to talk to Mindy. Skate back
through the tunnel to Beverly Hills.

PROVE YOURSELF TO THE SKATECLUB

Perform tricks on all five of the glowing objects in the area.


LEARN FLATLAND FROM THE SKATECLUB

Do all of the flatland tricks that are displayed to complete the goal.

GET TO ALVA'S BRO

1: Grind the planter around the corner, jump off and grind the next planter.
   Grind around the corner, jump and grind the third planter.

2: Grind the red wall around the corner and jump the gap between the two
   quarter pipes to land on the wires. Grind around the next two corners and
   then jump off the end of the wire to land on the roof.

3: Grind the left wall and jump off at the end to grind the red wall. From
   there, follow step 2 of this goal to reach the roof. Get off the board, walk
   slowly off the edge of the roof to shimmy and jump forward to the platform.


RIDE THE WHEEL AND SCARE SEAGULLS

1: Balance a lip trick on one of the ferris wheel cars for an entire rotation.

2: Grind the rail all the way around the pier and jump off the rope at the end
   to grind on the next rail.

3: Jump over the rail and grind the rope to scare the six seagulls. Jump on the
   next rope and scare the eight seagulls.


SHOW UP 'THE MAN'

Perform the grind combos that are displayed on the Pacific Park sign. After
dropping off the end of the sign, half turn and jump back onto the sign.


SHOOT THE VALLEY KOOKS

Fire water balloons (square) at all five surfers to complete the goal.


RIP OUT THE STEPS, IMPOSSIBLE!

1: Jump from the top of the steps and impossible (up + square). Boneless for
   extra height. If you still have trouble clearing the steps, half turn from
   the start point and air on the quarter pipe first.

2: Impossible three more times down the steps.

3: Impossible while spinning 360 down the steps.


SHARK ATTACK

1: Jump from the launch ramp and bank drop (R2) onto the shark.

2: Jump from the launch ramp and stall (R2 + triangle) on the shark three times
   to complete the goal.


TEAR DOWN THE ROOF

Get off the board and caveman on the roof to land on the cross. Do the same
trick from the other side of the roof, and one more from the corner.


BOMB THE HILL WITH TONY ALVA

1: Pogo (up + down + triangle, triangle) from one set of cones to the other.

2: Handstand (up + down + circle, circle) from one set of cones to the other.

3: Bert slide from the first set of cones to the last set.


SCARE AWAY THE CARNY

Ride back to Hollywood and enter the clothes shop. Buy the alien costume and
then return to the ferris wheel in Santa Monica to talk Alva. Make a new grind
at the trick editor and then exit the editor. Talk to Alva and then do the new
grind on the rollercoaster rail in front of the carny to scare him away. Natas
spin the lever at the left side of the ferris wheel and enter the three trick
combinations that are displayed to complete the goal.


PAY THE SHIP CAPTAIN

Grind the rail near the ferris wheel, stay on all the way above the water and
then jump left at the end to land on the boat. Talk to the boat driver and pay
him to complete the goal.

FEED THE SHARK

1: Grind the first cleat and then bank drop into a grind on the next cleat.

2: Grind the cable, jump off at the end and grind on the buoy line. Jump from
   the kink in the rail and grind the next section of rail.


HELP MEGA BLOWUP THE USGAS SIGN

1: Enter the elevator to travel to the top of the rig. Grind the pipe to hit
   the first valve, jump at the corner and grind the next pipe for the second
   valve, and then grind down the same pipe to hit the third valve.

2: Grind down the yellow rail, jump the gap and grind up the spiral rail. Jump
   at the end of the rail and sticker slap the sign to complete the goal.


TEAR OFF THE CORNER PIECE

Grind the rail and jump off at the corner to grind on the ledge. Grind around
the corner and then jump left to grind the next rail.


DROP THE GRATE AND BALLS

1: Climb up to the top of the ladder to talk to the welder.

2: Launch from the ramp at the end of the slope and acid drop into both of the
   skeet cups. Jump from the second cup and wallplant the grate.


DESTROY THE ANTENNAS!

Grind to the end of the scaffold and spine transfer down to the boat below.
Spine transfer over the spines on the ship and launch from the last spine to
destroy the antenna. Do the same thing on the next two ships.


DISMANTLE THE COMBO PIPES

Grind the right pipe for the first valve, jump left to the middle pipe for the
second valve and then jump left to the left pipe for the third valve.


GET OFF THE OIL RIG!

Jump and grind left along the curved yellow rail. Jump off at the end to land
on the deck and then grind along the pipe. Spine transfer up to the helipad and
then spine transfer off the other side to complete the goal.

HELP MEGA OIL THE CRANE

Run up the slope and climb up the crane ladder. Run up the left side of the
blue support and grab onto the ledge. Jump up and grab onto the crane, then run
along it and spray oil (down + triangle) at the three locations.

GET THE BLACK WIDOWZ TATTOO

1: Ride to Downtown and talk to the graffiti crew at the bottom-left corner of
   the level. Go to Santa Monica and get the black widow chest tattoo from the
   tattoo shop, then return to Downtown to talk to Hector.

2: Half turn from the start point and get some air on the quarter pipe. Revert
   to manual after landing, and then start riding through the cones. When you
   start losing your balance, enter focus mode (L3) and hold X to keep the
   speed up. Follow the cones all the way to the end to complete the goal.


BUILD AN ALL-CITY TAG

Find all of Mutan's graffiti locations in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Downtown
and Santa Monica. Help finish his piece at all of the locations to receive the
graphic sets from each level. Talk to Mutan again and create a graffiti tag
using all four of the styles. Return to Downtown and talk to Hector. Quickly
tag the four locations shown on the map to complete the goal.


PROVE YOUR BMX SKILLS

1: Tabletop (square) off the kicker ramp.

2: Crankflip (up with the right analog stick) off the kicker ramp.

3: Tabletop (left or right with the right analog stick) off the kicker ramp.

4: Manual between all the flags and then wallplant the wall at the end.

Talk to Boone in the tunnel. Hit the wood twice, then stand back and hold
square to throw the board to Boone.


TAKE THE BUM'S BED!

1: Grind the rail, jump left to the next rail, then launch off the end and acid
   drop onto the mattress.

2: Grind the ledge to get all seventeen of the car parts.


CHOPPER DROP!

1: Grab onto the helicopter and wait until it flies over to the shack. Drop off
   the helicopter and bank drop down to the shack.

2: Manual and perform the combos that are displayed.

3: Ride off the end of the platform and bank drop onto the couch.


GRAB THE COYOTE RUNNERS SIGN!

1: Jump from the ramp, hold L1 + R1, then hold R1 to grab onto the sign.

2: Jump from the ramp and grind the top of the sign.

The PAL version of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (on which this guide is
based), does not contain Marseilles and Atlanta, the two extra levels found in
the NTSC collector's edition version.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------


HIGH SCORE / PRO SCORE / SICK SCORE

At 1,000 points, jumping over the fountain gives one of the biggest gap rewards
in the level. Just ride forward from the start point to the end of the road and
then go down the slope on the left. A manual to flip over the fountain gives
about 10,000 points, and this can then be finished off with flatland combos for
many more points. There is also a quarter pipe stretching around the whole
fountain area, which is great for big combos to revert manuals.


HIGH COMBO

Launch right from the first kicker ramp and grind the ledge (Kicker 2 Edge).
Jump right at the end and grind the billboard rail (Billboard Grind). Jump off
the end and manual over to the rail leading down to the fountain area. Grind
the rail, then jump off and manual toward the fountain. Perform a roll or flip
over the fountain (Over the Fountain) and land in a manual. On sick difficulty,
add grind combinations to the grinds and flip tricks into and out of grinds.


COLLECT S-K-A-T-E

S. Ride forward from the start point and jump over the final kicker gap.

K. Turn slightly right after landing to see the letter K above the bus stop.

A. Continue following the road around to see the letter A above a launch ramp.

T. After passing the truck at the right side of the road, turn slightly left to
   see the letter T floating above the large quarter pipe platform.

E. Spine transfer over the platform with the letter T and turn left. Follow the
   road along and ride up the truck launch ramp to collect the letter E.


COLLECT C-O-M-B-O

Grind the rail leading down to the fountain area to collect the C and O. Jump
off at the end to collect the M and then manual to the fountain for the B. Jump
over the top of the fountain to collect the O.


GET THE SECRET TAPE!

Half turn from the start point and use the kicker ramp to launch up to the
road. Quarter turn left and follow the road forward to the launch ramp on the
truck. Ride up the ramp and jump through the glass to land in the tunnel. Ride
up the slope at the end of the tunnel and then ride over the next slope in
front. Quarter turn left and launch forward from the slope to land on the next
roof. Quarter turn right and jump from the launch ramp to collect the tape.


DO A INDY GRAB OVER THE FOUNTAIN

Ride to the fountain area in the middle of the level. Launch from the slope
around the fountain and indy grab (left + circle) over the fountain.


DO A HARDFLIP OVER THE RED CARPET

Ride forward from the start point and turn right at the junction in the road.
Ride to the top of the slope and then turn slightly right to see the red
carpet. Hardflip (up + left + square) over the carpet.


OLLIE OVER THE 5 BARRIERS

Ride forward from the start point to find the first barrier. Turn slightly left
at the end of the road and jump over the second barrier on the path leading
down to the fountain area. Ride to the path on the other side of the area and
jump over the third barrier. Quarter turn left on the road to see a big quarter
pipe in front. Grind up the rail at the left side of the quarter pipe to find
the fourth barrier. Continue down the next slope and turn left on the road.
Ride forward to the area with the red carpet, then look on top of the quarter
pipe platform on the other side of the road to see the fifth barrier.


STAT POINT LOCATIONS

1. Above the right launch ramp on the road behind the start point.

2. In front of the billboard in the fountain area.

3. Above the launch ramp on the road outside the fountain area.

4. Above the launch ramp at the end of the start point road.

5. Above the barrier on the quarter pipe near the red carpet.

5.2.                              Santa Cruz

HIGH SCORE / PRO SCORE / SICK SCORE

Jump onto any grindable surface and start experimenting with pressing any two
of the shape buttons. For example, from a 50-50, pressing square twice will
switch the grind to a smith. From a smith, pressing circle and then triangle
will switch the grind to a one footed smith. Another way of changing grinds is
to jump and then land in a different grind. The advantage of using this method
is that flip tricks or even small grabs can be performed between each grind.


HIGH COMBO

Turn slightly left from the start point and Boneless from the small launch ramp
up to a grind on the wire above. This wire loops around the huts, so perform
some grind combinations as explained in the previous goal to get the points.


COLLECT S-K-A-T-E

S. Quarter turn right from the start point and ride up the sloped road. Ride
   forward at the top to enter an area with a bowl. The S can be found floating
   above the quarter pipe net at the right side of the area.

K. Exit the bowl area and quarter turn right. Continue forward and grind the
   bench on the right side of the path to collect the K.

A. Continue forward and jump forward from the quarter pipe to land on the
   steps. Half turn to face back toward the road, and the A should be visible
   above one of the wires. Double jump off the steps to collect the A.

T. Jump back up to the steps near where the A was found, but this time drop
   down to the skate park on the other side. Ride to the small half pipe at the
   other side of the area to collect the T.

E. Jump over the nearby fence and turn left on the road. Follow the corner
   around to the left and then turn right at the first junction. Grind the
   white rail to collect the E.


COLLECT C-O-M-B-O

Ride forward from the start point and use the small launch ramp near the hut to
launch up to a grind on the wire. Grind the right wire for the C, jump to the
left wire for the O, back to the right wire for the M and then jump to the left
wire again for the B. Jump from the wire to collect the O.


GET THE SECRET TAPE!

Quarter turn right from the start point and ride up to the end of the road.
Quarter turn left to see the secret tape floating above the cinema sign. Jump
up to the green shop ledge at the right side of the cinema, and then double
jump over to the top of the cinema sign to collect the tape.


DO A KICKFLIP OVER THE PIER

Turn slightly left from the start point and jump down to the beach. Grind along
the steps and jump over the first gap. Continue grinding the steps, launch up
from the second gap to clear the pier and kickflip to complete the goal.


DO A INDY GRAB OVER THE BLEACHERS

Enter the skate park in the middle of the level to find the bleachers. Use the
launch ramp and indy grab (right + circle) over the bleachers.


KNOCK THE SHOES DOWN

1. Quarter turn right from the start point and use the quarter pipe on the
   right side of the road to launch up to a grind on the wire above. Grind left
   all the way along the wire to find the first shoes.

2. Jump off at the end of the wire and land on the steps at the side of the
   skate park. From here, get off the board and jump up to hang onto the left
   wire. Jump left and then grind down the wire for the second shoes.

3. Jump right and grind the right wire for the third shoes.

4. Turn slightly left after landing and ride down the pier. Use the quarter
   pipe at the left side of the pier and launch up to a grind on the wire
   above. Grind left along the wire for the fourth shoes.

5. Continue grinding along the wire to collect the fifth shoes.


STAT POINT LOCATIONS

1. Above the snake run bowl at the corner of the level.

2. Use the red and white striped quarter pipe at the right side of the road in
   front of the start point and spine transfer up to the roof. Climb up the
   next section of roof and grind right for the stat point.

3. Above the quarter pipe in the skate park in the middle of the level.

4. Above the logs near the net on the beach.

5. Jump from the top-left corner of the pier and grind the rope around the boat
   for the stat point.

5.3.                               The Mall

HIGH SCORE / PRO SCORE / SICK SCORE

Quarter pipes are great places to earn points in levels. Performing double
rolls (circle + left, left) and flips (circle + down, down) score great points
on their own, but remember that combos can be continued by adding a revert (R2)
to manual (up, down) quickly after landing. Combine this with additional grinds
and grind variations and the higher scores will become much easier to achieve.


HIGH COMBO

Launch up from the quarter pipe in front of the start point and double flip or
double roll. Revert to manual after landing and roll up to the slope at the end
of the path. Jump through the glass, wallride the wall and then jump up to a
grind on the rail leading around the top of the area. Jump off at the end of
the rail and wallplant the wall. Grind all the way back along the rail, jump
off at the end and then grind the ledge to complete the combo.


COLLECT S-K-A-T-E

S. Ride around the corner from the start point and go down the slope to collect
   the letter S above the quarter pipe.

K. After smashing the glass at the bottom of the slope, follow the lower path
   along to the fountain area. Ride through the pool of water for the K.

A. Continue through the level to find the pool of water with two poles above
   it. Grind the right pole for the A.

T. Before the outdoor area, there are two poles crossing over each other. Grind
   the right pole for the T.

E. After crossing the outdoor area, jump from the small slope and land in the
   area with the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater boxes for the E.


COLLECT C-O-M-B-O

Grind the rail at the left side of the pool of water to collect the C and O.
Jump off at the end and manual to the M, then turn slightly left and continue
forward to the top of the steps for the B and O.


GET THE SECRET TAPE!

Ride up the second escalator in the level and half turn right. Ride to the end
of the platform and half turn left to face back the way you just came. Grind
the right wall, jump at the end and grind the high pole below to find the tape.


IMPOSSIBLE OVER THE 16 SET

Grind the rail at the left side of the pool of water and drop off the end. Ride
forward and impossible (up + square) over the steps to complete the goal.


BENIHANA OVER THE ESCALATOR

Benihana (down + right + circle) over the final escalator, just before the
outdoor section at the left side of the level. The slope at the top of the
escalator tends to launch the skater up rather than forward, so just ollie or
boneless from the floor to clear the escalator.


SMASH 5 DIRECTORIES

1. Ride up the first escalator in the level to find the first directory.

2. Continue forward and follow the path through the fountain gaps to land on a
   platform with the second directory.

3. On the left just after the two poles in the water.

4. At the start of the two poles before the outdoor section.

5. In the middle of the path at the end of the outdoor section.


STAT POINT LOCATIONS

1. On the parking platform above the start point.

2. In the area with the elevators at the bottom of the set of sixteen steps.

3. On the ledge after the pool of water with the two poles.

4. Jump up from the small slope at the end of the outdoor section.

5. Grind the blue rail in the shop at the right side of the pool of water with
   the two poles. Board smash the gate to enter the shop.

Bank drops, hip transfers and spine transfers are very useful ways of scoring
points, and they are all accomplished by holding the R2 button. Most hip and
spine transfers give extra gap points as well. Great places in the Chicago
level for these transfers include the bowl, funboxes and quarter pipes.


HIGH COMBO

Turn slightly left from the start point and spine transfer from the big quarter
pipe into the half pipe on the other side. Revert to manual after landing, do a
high scoring move on the other side of the other side of the half pipe and then
revert to manual again. Spine transfer back down to the quarter pipe and revert
to manual to complete the combo. Remember to add high scoring moves on every
spine transfer to increase the points.


COLLECT S-K-A-T-E

S. Turn slightly left from the start point and grind the funbox rail for the S.

K. Continue forward and spine transfer from the quarter pipe in front into the
   half pipe to collect the K.

A. Ride to the other side of the half pipe and grind right for the A.

T. Grind the rail above the Whoop Gap to collect the T.

E. Grind around the top of the blue bowl for the E.


COLLECT C-O-M-B-O

Jump onto the high rail in front of the start point to collect the C and O.
Jump off the end and manual to the quarter pipe for the M. Jump left for the B
and revert to manual after landing on the half pipe. Manual to the other side
of the half pipe to collect the O.


GET THE SECRET TAPE!

Half turn from the start point and use the quarter pipe to launch up to the
wall above. Quarter turn left and jump into the booth to collect the tape.


BACKFLIP THE POOL HIP

Turn slightly right from the start point and ride forward to the bowl. Backflip
(circle + down, down) while doing a transfer (R2) over the hip in the bowl.


DO A 360 SHOVE-IT FLIP THE WHOOP GAP

Turn slightly right from the start point to see the Whoop Gap. Get some air on
the quarter pipe at the corner of the level and then ride toward the slope at
the start of the gap. Launch from the slope, 360 shove-it (down + square +
square) and then land on the other side of the gap to complete the goal.


BONED OLLIE THE WALL

Ride forward from the start point to see a rail. Boned ollie (X, X) over the
high section of the rail to complete the goal.


STAT POINT LOCATIONS

1. On the ledge above the quarter pipe at the bottom-left corner of the level.

2. Above the quarter pipe at the bottom-right corner of the level.

3. Above the funbox at the left side of the level.

4. Above the half pipe at the top-left corner of the level.

5. Above the hip in the bowl at the top-right corner of the level.

HIGH SCORE / PRO SCORE / SICK SCORE

The rail stall is a highly useful trick that can be used on a rail or ledge of
any length. Hold R2 while jumping onto a grind to stall on the object. You can
now go into grind combinations while remaining in the stall. Ride forward from
the start point in this level and try it out on the sloped ledge. Do some of
the grind variations and then jump off into a manual to continue on to the
quarter pipe, where you can spine transfer over to the rest of the level.


HIGH COMBO

Quarter turn left from the start point and use the quarter pipe in front to
launch up to the rail above. Grind left along the rail and jump off at the end
to wallride onto the next rail. Jump to the next ledge and then jump over the
various gaps in the ledges until you reach the quarter pipe at the end. Do a
high scoring move on this quarter pipe. Revert to manual after landing and then
grind back along the ledges to complete the combo.


COLLECT S-K-A-T-E

S. Ride down the slope in front of the start point and jump up from the quarter
   pipe to collect the S.

K. Ride back up the slope and continue forward to the escalator for the K.

A. Quarter turn left, ride down the slope and quarter turn right for the A.

T. Half turn and ride back down the slope in front of the start point. Spine
   transfer over the two quarter pipes to and then look up to the right to see
   the T. Get off the board and jump up to the wire above. Jump and grind along
   the wire to the right to collect the T.

E. Jump off the wire, half turn and then ride forward to find the E floating
   above the corner in the quarter pipe with the red edge.


COLLECT C-O-M-B-O

Grind right along the curved ledge near the road for the C. Jump at the end and
grind the rail for the O, then jump the gap and grind the next rail for the M.
Jump the next three gaps in the rails to collect the B and O.


GET THE SECRET TAPE!

Ride forward onto the road from the start point and follow it to the right.
Turn onto the first road on the left and drop into the clover bowl. Launch up
from the other side of the bowl to collect the tape.


DO A KICKFLIP OVER THE DIRECTORIES

Half turn from the start point and ride up both escalators. Turn slightly right
at the top and grind left along the bench in front. Launch up from the slope at
the end and kickflip (left + square) over the directories to complete the goal.


DO A POP SHOVE-IT FLIP ACROSS THE GATE

Quarter turn right from the start point and ride up the escalator. Run up the
steps at the top and then spine transfer from the quarter pipe at the back of
the area to land in the area with the gate. Pop shove-it (down + square) the
gate gap between the quarter pipes to complete the goal.


DESTORY THE ARCADES

1. Half turn from the start point to find the first arcade machine.

2. Ride down the slope in front of the start point and then quarter turn left
   to find the second arcade machine in the middle of the quarter pipe area.

3. Behind the building near the left side of the clover bowl.

4. Behind the building near the right side of the clover bowl.

5. In the skate park near the right side of the clover bowl.


STAT POINT LOCATIONS

1. Turn slightly left from the start point and jump over the quarter pipe to
   land in the area with the stat point.

2. Above the bowl at the top of the steps at the right side of the start point.

3. At the top of the first escalator behind the start point.

4. Above the blue rail at the side of the clover bowl.

5. Above the right quarter pipe in the area with the gate.

Press start to open up the menu. Select Your Progress - View Tricks - Special
Tricks to view all of the special moves that are available. These are excellent
moves to use in levels as they score huge points.


HIGH COMBO

Half turn from the start point and launch up from the quarter pipe. Do a
special air, then revert to manual after landing. Do a special manual over to
the burning barrel in the distance and then natas spin on it. Jump off and do a
special grind on the ledge at the left side of the road. Near the end of the
ledge, jump and rail stall into grind combinations to complete the combo.


COLLECT S-K-A-T-E

S. Half turn from the start point and use the quarter pipe to launch up to a
   grind on the rail above. Grind left along the rail for the S.

K. Jump off the wire before the corner and quarter turn left to see the K. Jump
   forward from the quarter pipe into the room to collect the K.

A. Jump out of the room and quarter turn right. Jump over the rail to land in
   the dam section and go left. Jump up from the small quarter pipe in front of
   the other dam to collect the A.

T. Continue forward after landing and enter the tunnel to collect the T.

E. Quarter turn left at the donut shop and follow the road along to the quarter
   pipe at the end. Launch up to the roof on the left to find the E.


COLLECT C-O-M-B-O

Ride forward from the start point and grind the ledge at the left side of the
burning barrel. Launch up from the slope at the end and grind the red rail for
the C. Jump left and grind the edge of the building for the O. Grind around the
corner and jump off before the next corner, then land in a manual. Jump left
and grind left along the rail for the M. Jump up and grind the fence for the B,
then launch up from the end of the ledge and grind the next ledge for the O.


GET THE SECRET TAPE!

Ride forward from the start point and turn right at the burning barrel. Run up
the steps and go through the door to the tower jump area. Spine transfer from
the quarter pipe at the other side of the roof for the tape.


NATAS THE 3 HYDRANTS UNTIL THEY BURST

1. Ride forward from the start point and turn left at the burning barrel. Natas
   spin (R1 + triangle) the hyrdant in front of the donut shop.

2. Continue forward and Natas spin the hydrant behind the donut shop.

3. Ride back to the road and quarter turn left. Follow the road around the
   corner and Natas spin the hydrant at the left side of the road.


COLLECT 5 ROAD KILL

1. Ride forward from the start point and turn left at the burning barrel. Ride
   to the hydrant to find the first road kill.

2. Ride behind the donut shop for the second road kill.

3. Enter the car park on the other side of the road for the third road kill.

4. Exit the car park to find the fourth road kill near the hydrant.

5. Half turn and follow the road around the corner to the steps in front of the
   Tower Jump building for the fifth road kill.


COLLECT 5 OF DEREK'S DONUTS

1. Ride forward from the start point and turn left at the burning barrel. The
   first donut is found at the right side of the donut shop.

2. Launch up from the car kicker ramp on the road at the left side of the donut
   shop for the second donut.

3. Ride forward from the start point to see a train at the corner of the road.
   Launch forward over the train to land on the roof, then turn left to see big
   glass windows on the next building. Launch left from the quarter pipe on the
   roof and smash through the glass to find the third donut.

4. Ride forward from the start point and turn right at the burning barrel. Run
   up the steps and go through the door to the tower jump area. Spine transfer
   from the quarter pipe at the other side of the roof for the donut.

5. Jump from the ramp after collecting the fourth transfer and land on the
   section of road for the fifth donut. If you can't make it to the road, raise
   the air, ollie and speed stats and do a boned ollie from the launch ramp.


STAT POINT LOCATIONS

1. Enter the tower jump building to arrive on the roof. Half turn to see the
   stat point above the quarter pipe.

2. Quarter turn left at the burning barrel and use the quarter pipe on the left
   side of the road to launch up to the stat point.

3. Grind the rail leading out of the building where the K was found.

4. Enter the pit with the dams and spine transfer over the broken wall near
   where the A was found to collect the stat point.

5. In the middle of the donut on top of the donut shop roof. Jump onto the top
   of the roof, stand in front of the donut and face away from it. Run up the
   pillar supporting the donut and wall flip off to collect the stat point.
