01. Introduction
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is basically a Musou game using MS (Mobile Suit) from the Gundam
series.

Since PS3 is region free. From the start, the game do try to make itself
player-friendly by providing both English and Japanese text for its in
game menu. However, the audio and mission text are still in Japanese. To
ease the understanding of the mission objective, the game provide a very
nicely done Mission Log file. The character portrait are shown and the
location the event happened is shown on the map.

The replay value in this game is great because after unlocking all the
pilots and MS, you can still try to max up the Skill list for EACH pilot
and the Part list for EACH MS.

T: Triangle button

T: Shoot
X: Dash (Convert to an aircraft for certain MS while in the air)
O: Special

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
03. Graphical Interface
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Combat view
-----------

The lower left corner has an image of the MS and a charge ring shaped like
a C. On the right side of the charge circle have up to 3 charged bars. To
the right of the MS image is a life bar indicating the HP of the MS.

The MS Image is normally blue in colour, when you Dash (press X) or fly
around, the MS Image will slowly changed to red. When it is completely
red, the MS can't dash or fly and need to wait for the system to cool
down.

The life bar is normally blue in color. It will change to yellow and
eventually red when you had taken sufficient damage.

The charge ring will slowly charge when you hit an enemy or had taken
damage. When the life bar is red, the charge ring will charge
automatically even if you are not doing anything. There is an item that
provide this benefit as well.

When you are inside a friendly or enemy base. You will see a box appearing
at the top middle portion of the screen. Blue indicates that the base is
friendly while Red or Yellow indicate the respective parties. The text
above indicate the name of the base and a HP bar indicating the health
status of the base. When friendly forces is defeated within the zone, the
bar reduces while defeating enemies forces increases it. The number on the
right of the bar indicate the strengh of the base, a base with a larger
number is tougher to take out. There are a few indicator bars just below
the box. This represent the number of adjacent bases. If the bar is
lighted then that adjacent base belong to friendly forces. Active bars
gives bonuses to friendly forces fighting in the base.

The top left hand corner display the name and life bar of the enemy you
are currently fighting.

The botton right hand corner indicates the number of MS you had taken
down.

All enemies on the screen had life bar shown above them. The color of the
bar shows the side they belonged.

08. Part List
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

During a mission, defeating a Guard or an Ace may sometime drop a toolbox.
If you sucessfully complete the mission, you get to keep the parts. You can
get a maximum of 4 different parts per mission. I had gotten 5 parts from
a mission before but 2 of them are the same.

All parts collected by a MS regardless of the pilot is kept with the MS.
So if you are having trouble using a certain MS, it may be better for you
to find a high level pilot to use that particular MS to go parts hunting
to strength the MS.

There are parts belonging to 5 mechanics.

The basic enhancement of the parts increases the following attributes:
Fight - melee attack
Shoot - range attack
Defense - reduce the amount of damage taken
Armor - Hit point

Since the mechanices are indicated by their portrait. It is better to
label them as M1 to M5 from left to right.

Mechanic Description
M1 - purple hair
M2 - blonde hair
M3 - Lane, only woman here
M4 - Doctor J, grey haired with dark glasses
M5 - black hair

The parts are arrange in 3 rows of 5. Let's label them as P01-P15 where
they are arranged from left top right, top to bottom:
P01 P02 P03 P04 P05
P06 P07 P08 P09 P10
P11 P12 P13 P14 P15

Part Description
P01 Battle Program, Purple bordered rectangluar Board
P02 Shooting Program, Same as P01 but blue bordered
P03 Alloy, White hump shaped component
P04 Additonal Armor, Plain circuit board with 4 partitions
P05 Takaide Power Generator, Silver cylinder with bolt to the top & sides

P06 High Movement Thruster, look like a trumpet
P07 Linear Suspension, roundish part with a slim pipe protruding
P08 High Sensitivity Sensor, look like a needle gun
P09 Sensor for shooting, component with gear and such
P10 Self repair type nano machine, rectangle shape with yellowish interior

P11 Over limit chip, Green circuit board
P12 Future estimate program, same as P01 but yellow bordered
P13 Biosensor, look like a walkman with headphones
P14 I field control equipment, Vertical pipe

Rare Item - Gold Bordered
P15 (M1) Control Circuit, Blue Box
P15 (M2-M5) MUSOU unit, engine unit

Each mechanic can have the same 15 types of parts and the maximum
number of a particular type of parts is 3. The only exception is
P15. M1 have a different P15 from the other 4 mechanics. P15 is
easily found in Hard mode and tough missions in Easy and Normal
in tough missions.

Part attributes

It is be seen easily that P15 combine all attributes from the same
mechanic.

M01 - Purple hair

You are allowed to equip a maximum of 3 parts for each MS. If the 4th
part appear, the box will explode and you have another chance to get
another box from other Guards and Aces.

So what's all this stuff about mechanics and parts? You see, when you
equip parts from the same mechanics or similar parts, you get combos.
These combos come in either an increase in attributes or some special
abilities.

The combo that are known at the moment are as follows:

Same part x 2
Fight +20 Shot +20 Defense +20 Armor +37

Same part x 3
Fight +30 Shot +30 Defense +30 Armor +56

M01 x 2

Fight +10 Shot +10 Defense +10 Armor + 12 (M02 P15)
Fight +30 Shot +30 Defense +30 Armor + 56 (P15 x 3 bonus)
Fight +10 Shot +10 Defense +10 Armor + 12 (M02 x 3 bonus)
========================================================
Fight +70 Shot +70 Defense +70 Armor +104

Note that M01 P15 x 3 doesn't enjoy the additional bonus from parts x3
and mechanics x3. So you get exactly
Fight +100 Shot +100 Defense +100 Armor + 130
when you equipped all 3 of them.

When hunting for rare item such as P15, it is best to use Amuro Ray's
Official Mission 1, Hard Mode. Just beat Blue Comet, Black Tri-star first
stage, Black Tri-star second stage and then beat Blue Comet one last time
to end the mission. You will usually ended up about 4 items in the process
and in most cases 1 or 2 of them will be a P15!

Note: I had did further test on other pilots and it seemed that your
pilot need to be level 30 in order for the P15 to drop. You don't really
need to play on Hard mode but the chance will be higher than the easier
modes.

09. Mission List
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CJayC had written some really detailed mission guide in his FAQ. I will
think about what to write here so as not to repeat what had already being
said.

For a start, I don't understand every messages that is shown during a
mission but that don't stop me from understanding the mission objectives.

Every mission can be completed by following these few steps:

1. First verify the Victory Conditions.

If you need to defeat any MS/Battleship to complete the mission, their
pilot names will be listed. If they are on scene, you can see a line
linking from their names to their current location. If you see a circle
below them, then they are the Guard for that base. This means that you
need to clear the base of its HP before they will descend to fight you.
In the actual scene map, these MS will be highlighted as a larger red
square.

Similarly, some of your allies MS must not be defeated as part of the
mission completion criteria. Remember their pilot name and keep an
eye on their HP from time to time. They usually appear as a larger blue
square on the in game map.

If you need to defeat an enemy Battleship , you must clear that base
along will any Guards there.

If you need to protect a particular Battleship , you must enter that
base and defeat enemies to recharge the base's HP. Once you think the
base had recovered, you should proceed with your mission objectives.

2. Allies in distress

During the missions, very often you will find an ally MS in distress.
Most of the time, their HP is halved and will be destroyed within 2-3
minutes if you don't help them out. So when you see such a message
(usually boxed in green), you should stop what are you doing and rush
to their rescue. Once you helped them to clear the base they are in,
most likely that ally MS will received a full HP boost. In most cases,
these are the MS that will help you out in the final showdown with
the mission Boss. So do take some time to help them out.

3. Protected base

Certain enemy base had something protecting them. Either it is a laser
that track and shoot at you or the enemy MS within the base will always
get a full HP boost very frequently. The game will prompt you to destroy
certain nearby base to stop the protection mechanism. Just check your
mission log and it will indicate the bases to destroy.

4. Red Fire MS

Certain enemy MS is in a so-called Red Fire mode. You can see a fiery
aura around them and they are tougher than usual. In Hard mode, many
of the normal enemy MS will be in Red Fire mode so that make the game
much harder. There is basically 2 methods to deal with them. The first
one involves getting behind them and get a free attack or Musou. This
task depends on which MS you are using, the more agile MS have more
advantage than a slow MS like The O. Once you get you first hit, you
want to keep them floating. To do that, you want to do a Square,
Square, Square attack rather than a charged attack. Charge attack will
most likely make them lay flat on the ground. If the enemy MS is down,
try to position yourself to hit their back when they get up. I called
this method "Backstabbing". Rinse and repeat. The other method is
basically to get your HP to red which will trigger the SP auto recharge
mode. Run away from the enemy MS and wait for your SP to be fully
charged. Run back and spam your Musou at the enemy. Rinse and repeat.
I think the Japanese called this tactics the Red Chicken Run. Do
understand that this method does not always guarantee that you will
win the fight. Since your HP is so low, the enemy can pull off a Musou
and finish you off. As such this method is best combine with the
Interim Save.

5. Locked up

In certain mission, you will initally be asked to reach a certain
mission objective. But once you had reaches a certain place, some
event will trigger and you can go back the way you came. It could
be an Avalanche, Lava or locked doors. To make the matters worse,
your ally MS or Base will most likely to be attack and need your
help. Anyway, you just have to fight some enemy MS to trigger some
events to unlock yourself from that place and then head to your
Base or allies to rescue them.

6. Timed event

In certain mission, you need to complete a mission objective within
a short period of time. Example, there is one mission where you
need to escape a collapsing cave and another where you must stop
the Big Cannon from firing. For such cases, it is generally easier
to select an easier difficulty level if you have trouble clearing
it.

7. One on One dead match

After completing all mission objectives, sometime you are put into a
dead match with one of your fellow MS. The opponent is usually
Master Gundam or Wing Zero. There is really no good way to help you
in the fight, so just use the Interim Save + Red Chicken Run method.

This should covers all the scenerio you will encountered in the
missions. If you are lost, just defeat all enemy MS on the map and
clear every single enemy bases.

Amuro Ray Official Mode

Mission 1 - Trivia

During the first encounter with the Black Tri-Star, you can defeat all
three of them in the same encounter. Normally, if one of them is down,
there other two will fly away. If you attack them when they are about
to fly off, you can pin them down. After defeating all three of them,
the other 2 will still appear later on.

10. Pilot & MS Stats
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some of the favourite questions people asked are:
"Who is the best pilot?"
"Which is the best MS?"

Given that the parts that can be collected are the same for all MS,
it shouldn't be used as a comparison criteria. Similarly, all the
skills can be learned by every pilot.

At level 10, all MS will have 3 SP gauge. The booster and the speed of
MS is something that is much harder to gauge so I will just leave them
out.

As such, there are basically 4 Stats that are of concern here:
Fight, Shoot, Defense and Armor.

Here's are some of the Stats for the various Pilot and MS. Some of them
are good in different area. It is up to you to interpret them.

11. Tips & Tricks
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every pilot starts at level 1 and the maximum level you can get is level
30. After completing a mission (success or failure), you get to keep the
experience gained during the mission and you may learn up to 3 new skills.
The new skills are randomly selected from a pool. After reaching level 30,
the pilot learn a new skill after every mission (success or failure).

When a pilot is given a new MS, the MS level always starts from level 1.
You cannot level up a MS to level 10 and pass it on to another newbie
pilot. The maximum level a MS can attained is 10. MS points gained during
a mission is kept even if the mission failed. Once the Pilot and MS is
maxed, the only way to fight better is to acquire the strong skill and
get strong parts combo.

Each MS keep it's own inventory of parts gained in the mission. The only
way to collect the parts is to get it by defeating a Guard or an Ace in a
mission and then successfully complete the mission. If you failed the
mission, you lose any parts collected. There are 5 mechanics and 15 types
of parts making it a total of 75 different parts. You can get 3 for each
of these parts so collecting a complete inventory requires 75 x 3 = 225
parts. That is assuming that you don't count those parts you already had.
If you want to do it with all 18 MS, that's 4050 parts. Nobody will do
this unless they are very dedicated to the game. Anyway, I am sure that
getting M01 P15 x 3 will be sufficient for most people since that is the
best parts combo IMO.

Make use of the Interim Save function provided in the mission. You can
only keep one such save game. The manual didn't explain its usage clearly
so here's how to use it properly. Suppose you are fighting a particular
tough Ace and both your HP is red. Stay a distance away from the Ace and
do a Interim Save. After that, charge in and see whether you can defeat
him/her. If unfortunately you fail the mission. You will be shown the
mission failure screen and you may to tempt to save the game. Don't.
Instead, press the PS button on your controller to Quit the game. Start
the game again and press Start. There should be a resume save game option
available. Select it and you be back to the point where you did the
Interim Save. Just remember to stay away from the nasties when you save
or else you might get KO the moment you get back to the game. Stunned
opponent will not be stunned when you load the Interim Save, so do keep
your distance away from fiery opponents.
Remark: Thanks to Albert for pointing out that you can perform a soft
reset (Select + Start) to reduce the amount time needed to reload the
Interim Save.

This part is nothing new really. Easy mode give you the lower level parts.
While hard mode will give you better parts. The tough part is how to
survive the mission in order to keep the parts. As such it is recommended
to use a Level 30 Pilot in a Level 10 MS before going item hunting in the
Hard Mode. You can find gold bordered P15 part in Hard Mode. It seldom
appears in Easy or Normal Mode unless the mission is really tough. A bit
of correction here, I had verified that with a Level 30 Pilot, you can
get P15 in Easy Mode.

To complete all the missions for a particular Pilot, there is no need to
clear them solo. Playing with 1P or 2P will clear the mission similar to
1P mode. Playing in Easy, Normal or Hard mode also doesn't matter. So if
you have problem completing the game, bring along a partner, perferably
one using a high level Pilot and a high level MS. There are a few missions
where you are trapped inside and you must fight your way out while your
base is being attacked. For these missions, sent your buddy to guard the
base for you so that you can have an easier time. In certain missions,
several of your Aces are in trouble, with an additional hand, you can
split up and help your team mates easily. Lastly, when fighting Musha
Gundam, it is always better to have a helping hand. But do take note that
if your partner is KO, it's a mission failure as well. So do remember to
use the Interim Save as a backup plan.

The CG shown in 1P and 2P mode is slightly different. So if you want to
view all the CG, you may need to play throught the missions in both 1P and
2P mode. Also, additional CG may happened depending on completion or
failure of certain mission objective. For example, in Amuro Ray's Offical
Mission 1, if you defeat the Black Tri-Star during the first encounter
using the original Gundam, you get a cutscene that doesn't appear if you
use another MS.

If 2 players is present in an Official mission. The second player cannot
choose their MS even if the Pilot had already cleared all their missions.
In most cases, they will be using their original MS but in some cases,
another MS is given. In Original mode, there is no such issues.

In some of the mission, you are given a new MS half way through. That will
really put you at a disadvantage. If you really need help, you can get
an experience Pilot to go parts hunting with that new MS to beef it up.
The alternative way is to fail the mission multiple time while leveling up
your Pilot and MS.

There is a Famous Speech section in the Gallery. To unlock the Famous
Speech, it is necessary to replay some of the mission multiple times. If
you played through the game once clearing all the pilots you will probably
get a 88% completion. In order to unlock more Famous Speech it is
necessary to complete the mission in some way that is inline with the
anime series since that's where the Famous Speech originates. The Famous
Speech list is sorted based on pilots, so it is easy to tell which pilot's
is missing. In order to unlock that, choice his/her mission and tried
multiple different ways to clear the mission. For example, in Scirocco
Official mission 2, if his lady friend MS were destroyed, they uttered
some famous speech. However, if you won't hear them if Scirocco rescued
them.
