INTRODUCTION

Gotten lost along the path of the One, have you?... Well, I guess it is not an
easy road to follow. So let me guide you along the way that fate has prescribed
for you, the chosen One... ... ;).

As usually my guide is written for beginners or medium players who want to
enjoy the story but are no ace with the controller. This means it will
contain a lot of detailed descriptions and will point out useful strategies
which worked well for me and should do the same for you.

I subdivided the walkthrough into three parts analogous to the parts of the
movie(s). I also added made up titles for the different sections of each level
which should make it easier for you to find what you are looking for.

Hints and strategies for difficult situations have been marked so that you can
find some extra help if you need it. These sections can usually be found in the
lower part of the level in question or if immediately relevant to the situation
they are integrated into the text.

This guide does by no means claim to take you down the rabbit hole as a whole.
It will, however, give you a full walkthrough through the game including the
bonus objectives and help you to uncover some of its secrets. The rest will be
up to you.

Once again, I would like to point out that English is not my first language and
that any mistakes in spelling or grammar I make should therefore be forgiven.
Instead you should rather pat me on the back for undertaking such an enterprise
and writing this guide. ;)

Well, enough of empty words, let's see some deeds!

GENERAL GAME TIPS

But first...
Some useful tips to make life (and survival) inside the matrix a lot easier:

# Even the One can run out of focus! (And unlike in the last game it will
not refill unless you do something about it.)

  - Only use your focus ability when it is absolutely necessary.
  - Once you have your enemy under control (for example during a combo) release
the L1 button for the duration of the ongoing attack. You'll sometimes even
be able to start the next combo without needing to use your focus ability
    at all.

# Know your skills, but don't overdo it!

  - Try to learn one or two combos by heart so that the moment Neo gets hold of
his enemy you will know which buttons to press. The lightning combos work
really well on ALL enemies and you can even easily take out an Agent
just by using one of those (though you will have to use it more than once).
If you tend to get confused by too many possibilities and tend to end up
just smashing any button you might want to focus on one particular skill
    such as this combo.

# Consider withdrawing in order to win

  - When low on health withdraw and wait until your health bar has refilled.
Most fights can be put to an hold by leaving the area for a moment. However
if you are fighting an enemy that is capable of regaining health itself
(they are after all just programmes, right?) it is not advisable to stray
around for too long before getting back into action. You don't want to have
to do the whole fight all over again, do you?

Once you have gained to ability to attack from above:
# Your problems will seem a lot smaller when looked at from above

  - When surrounded by multiple enemies (in particular at the beginning of a
fight) you might want to consider jumping up into the air twice and
charging up for an aerial attack. You will get particularly fond of this
method during your fight with a few hundred Smiths.

# Always check your objectives on a regular basis!

  - Otherwise you'll might miss out on a Bonus Objective that has been added
    without you realizing it.

# Running around in circles

  - It might not be the most aesthetic way of winning a fight, but while low on
health or focus you can buy time by dodging attacks instead of engaging
in a fight. Keep pressing the square button while moving towards your enemy
or away from him. If you manage to jump over him this way you'll might even
make him dizzy thereby preparing him for your next attack.

There is only so much help preparatory words can give you, so let's move on to
walking the Path of Neo.

The Matrix has you.

WALKTHROUGH

Once you get the option to choose, take the blue pill. ...Of course NOT. The
red one will take you to wonderland, so let's begin.

You will find yourself in a (potentially) familiar surrounding from the end of
the first movie, but don't worry this is not from where we start the game.

Every time the elevator doors open a different kind of enemy will emerge,
starting by the easiest one, the security guard. Depending on how well you do
(how many different kinds you can take down) your difficulty level will be set.
However, you can still choose to play in easy mode even if you have achieved a
higher level. Once you are done with this challenge the actual game will begin.

By the way, you can retry this challenge if you are not satisfied with how
you did.

Watch the cutscene which will give you an idea of which part of the story you
will have to complete. The scenes will not be shown in the chronological order
of the movie, yet you will be able to follow the storyline this way.

ESCAPE FROM METACORTECH

Cross over to the cubicle Morpheus has pointed out to you. At this very
beginning a green light will light up the position you are meant to be in.
Press against the wall and wait for further directions. Leave the cubicle and
turn left. Follow the officer until you are told to press against the wall to
the right. Wait here before moving on into the cubicle the green light is
pointing out. Again follow the officer until Morpheus tells you to stop. Press
against the wall and peek around the corner. Once the Agent turns away cross
over to the other side and continue your pursuit of the green light. (Umm, I
mean Morpheus directions...) Follow the officer until you are told to press
against the wall to the left.

CHECKPOINT.

Listen to the conversation, then move on. Crawl around the desk of the
secretary who will like you well enough to cover for you. Hide in the filing
cabinet until the Agent goes away, then head down the corridor (ignore the way
to the left). Careful now! There is a guard around the corner, so make sure
your are not running into him. Keep following him until you reach the end of
the corridor where you are supposed to lean against the wall. Wait here until
you are being told to try a breakthrough and get into the office. If the guard
gets hold of you keep smashing the triangle button until you are free.

Cutscene and CHECKPOINT.

This is where game and movie depart from each other. Unlike in the movie Neo
will have to overcome his fear of heights and make his way to the top of the
building.
Follow the ledge to the left and hang down. Shuffle further to the left and
get back up onto the ledge. Continue left until you are above a white
container. Drop down and wait to be lifted up.
Climb back up onto the ledge and move to the right. Hang down, shuffle and get
back up onto the ledge. You will be discovered as soon as you reach the next
window, so hurry to the cleaner's lift (the one with the GREEN light) and use
it to go up. The controls will soon be jammed so leave the lift and jump down.
Neo will break through the planks but will manage to grab the ledge. Once
you are back in control climb up and get ready to push the guard aside. As
soon as he lets go of you climb up the ladder and turn left. Jump over to the
next platform and sneak up on the guard on the ledge. Well, this problem has
solved itself, hasn't it.
A builder on a cleaner's lift will soon approach your position. Get in and ask
him to bring you to the roof. You will have a further encounter with a guard
pretty soon, so once back in control move to the left (hang, shuffle, up, you
get the picture). Drop down onto the white container and wait to be lifted up.
Jump down and run to the doors ahead. Use the left one to enter the building.
Cutscene. Now head down the stairs in order to reach a

SAVEPOINT.

Turn right and you'll see a guard in the corridor to your right. Hide between
the shelves for a moment until you see him turn left then rush up to the corner
to the right and lean against the wall. You will hear a conversation. As soon
as the guard who has been standing in your path moves rush to the door to the
right and open it. You are on the 14th floor.
You will find an open door on the 12th floor. Sneak to the right and follow the
guard you see ahead of you. Wait at the next corner until you see a guy in a
suit coming out of a doorway. (He will say something like: 'about that time?').
Now follow him past the cubicles but turn right where he turns left and
immediately turn left afterwards. Exit through the door ahead.
Go down to the 6th floor and use the door. You will encounter an Agent here,
but don't worry, he won't interfere. If an officer gets hold of you simply push
him aside and head on. Use the door slightly to your right and cross the room
(turn right, go straight ahead and use the way to the left at the far end of
the room - take care not to run into the Agent who will be coming from the
first intersection!). Leave the room through the doorway and turn right. Follow
the corridor until you see a security guard coming from a doorway. This is your
escape route. Push the guard aside if you have to then enter the doorway and
run down the stairs all the way down to the first floor. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
APPROACH THE GUARD WITH THE GUN! Instead immediately turn left and prepare for
a quick turn to the left again. An Agent will kick in the door ahead. Avoid him
and get rid of the two guards who will await you in the room ahead. Once past
them run into the huge room ahead, but IMMEDIATELY turn left as soon as you
can! The guard ahead will shoot you if you get too close. You will see an exit
to your right. Run through the doorway and follow the corridor. You will see
Trinity in a distance, but don't relax just yet. A last guard will be coming
from the left through the boxes and Trinity won't move a muscle to help you.
Get rid of the attacker and approach her motorbike.

EVERYBODY WAS KUNG FU FIGHTING...

You'll find yourself in one of Mouse's little fantasies. Follow his
instructions and take out the guard. Simply sneak up on him and push the circle
button. If you fail he will try to raise an alarm. You will then have to fight
a bunch of easy enemies and you will have to re-do the task.
Done with it head down the corridor to the hatch and go down the ladder.
More enemies who need taking out. Sneak up as good as you can and be quick to
push the circle button before they turn around. Never mind if it doesn't work
this time, you won't have to do it all over again.
In the next area is a good opportunity to practice your combos. Do exactly as
Mouse tells you to and don't worry if it doesn't work straight away. Just keep
trying, those enemies are no real threat to your health and there won't be any
better opportunity to practice the 'proper procedure' than this one.
Done with those wannabe-Bruce Lees move on to the next area by smashing the
shelves in your way.
This mission sounds harder than it is. Simply stay below the window and go up
the ramp. Now approach the guy closest to you from behind and take him out
using the silent attack. Done with him do the same with his comrade (If he
gets up before you are done with him simply punch him). That's a bonus weapon
for you.
Leave the control booth and head to the next area.
Have fun with these guys. Try out your newly acquired skills and do what ever
you like to get rid of them. Then leave by jumping across the lava pits.
Jump and take out the enemy coming towards you. Climb up the ladder at the
end of the corridor.
Walk on and you will get your bonus weapon.... Great! A stick! I always wanted
one of those! (I was being ironic, just in case you haven't noticed).
Anyway, use it if you feel like it. It is after all the 'big finale'...
Once the first round is over your focus meter will extend and for the first
time you will be able to use your focus ability in a fight. Use it if you are
having trouble beating your opponents. However, the amount of focus you will
have at your disposal at this point in game is ridiculous and you might want
to use it wisely. Keep fighting until you are confronted by the 'boss'. He is
tougher and will keep coming back even after you kicked him off the platform.
If you haven't used your stick yet, this is the time you might want to use it,
though he isn't really much of a problem.
Watch the funny cutscene and get to your very first

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

This screen is almost unnecessary since you will hardly ever get the
opportunity to choose between more than two skills (Usually there is only one
option). This is why I will not advise you on what to choose here - you cannot
go wrong.

Coming to think about it, however, you might want to consider learning all the
permanent skills first (all skills apart from those on the outermost circle
which will be taken from you once you have completed the level.)

I will tell you more about the coded (looks Chinese to me...) skills later in
the game. For now they have no relevance to us.

Moving on.

SWORDPLAY

This could be the first real challenge for you - depending on your skills with
the controller. Approach your opponent in order to engage in a fight. You could
just keep smashing the triangle button in order to defeat your enemy, but I
advise you to practice your skills with the sword by trying out some combos.
You will soon have to face multiple opponents and the fighting will get a lot
harder. And by the way: as soon as you see something green in front of Neo's
face (during the early stages of the game he will make a weird sound when he
gets dizzy) keep smashing the square button until he is back to normal. This is
something you should get used to early in the game.
Once your opponent has taken a certain amount of damage your focus meter will
extent and your attacks will get stronger. Keep attacking until his health
meter is empty.
However, you are not done with him yet. This is where it gets really tough.
Trinity will come to your rescue, however it is quite possible that you will
have to come to hers as well since your opponents are quite a nasty crowd.
Do the best you can and only use focus when it is absolutely necessary.
Otherwise the meter will be empty before you can say 'focus ability'.
Once the two of you have caused enough damage he will withdraw only to come
back multiplied. This is the tough part I was talking about. It is also likely
that your sword will break at this point of the fight so hurry to get a new one
by defeating an enemy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what worked well for me when I was low on health:
Jump up and quickly press the triangle button. Neo will execute a strong hit
while being out of danger of being hit himself.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Take down all of the enemies and you will get your next

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

GHOSTBUSTER

Great, just what we needed. Seems Neo is stuck and is left to his own devices.
O well, what the hell. Grab the sword in front of you and slice open the
door to your left. A ghost will threaten you... Follow him by making your way
through the doors (no need to use the sword for this.). When face by three
doors use the right one and you will see the ghost again. Watch it! This little
... will start ripping the programme apart and you don't want to step into any
of those gaps, do you? Use your focus ability (and the walls) to get past
them. Try to remember to release the L1 button immediately after your landing,
wasting focus at this point in the game can be fatal. Turn right and make your
way through the next four doors. Another gap and three more doors to make
your way through. Cross the next gap using the left wall and turn left.
There he is! ...Or maybe not. Keep following the ghost across the emerging
gap and ...oops. Wrong party. And they are not pleased to see you. You will
not be greeted with the typical Asian reserve, so prepare for a fight.
Once you have cleaned up leave through one of the two doors ahead. If you are
low on health for some reason smash the cupboard to the right first you will
find a pick-up here.
You could engage in another fight in the room ahead (you will see some guys
practicing through the open door), but you could might as well simply turn left
and enter the door ahead where you will find and fight the ghost. He is not
really a hard opponent and you should beat him in no time. Use your focus
ability the moment you've gotten hold of him and keep slashing. Your focus
meter will keep refilling since you are attacking and he won't get a chance to
strike back.
The moment you are done with him your Operator will manage to get back in touch
with you. (What a timing...) Grab the scroll out of the cabinet that has
opened and you will from now on be able to execute a killing blow. This is a
very useful skill, IF you find the time to charge up! (My advice: save it for
later when Neo has gotten stronger. At the moment multiple opponents will just
overrun him while he is still charging for his killing blow.)
Depending on whether you decided to take on the ghost straightaway or whether
you wiped out the guys in the practice room first you won't or will be able
to proceed now. In case you haven't done so yet take out the enemies in the
previous room and then head down the corridor.
You will reach a burning area. Be careful when turning around the second
corner. Not only will the place fall apart, you will also be attacked by some
idiots who do not seem to notice that. Get rid of them and use the right wall
to cross the fire. More idiots. In case you are having trouble getting rid of
them remember that jumping and slicing is a good idea to save health. (In case
this doesn't work for you either destroy the cupboards in the room from where
they came from in order to get a pick-up. Then proceed outside.
Once in the winter garden you could of course simply storm ahead taking your
opponents head-on. However, this doesn't seem to be the smart thing to do, so
go the left way around and you will end up in their backs.
Practice multiple-opponents attacks as much as possible. This is the time to
make mistakes. Later on they might be fatal. Once you are done with them a
cutscene will show you more enemies. Approach them and do what you are here
for. Take them out. Another cutscene, stronger opponents. Never mind. Practice
different combos and attack from mid-air if in trouble. Done.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In case nothing else works:
These enemies are not capable of regaining health, so when low on health
running away might save your butt. Once you have regained full health jump back
into the action.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

BEAT THE HIGHSCORE

This part is a lot easier than it sounds. Just keep attacking anything that
moves and you will easily score around 9000 points even by just using simple
attack combos. Just take care to dodge the axes which will be thrown at you,
they can pose a real threat to your health. Throwing them back is of course an
option, but a risky one since you have to charge up before you throw. I am
sure you won't have any difficulties with this challenge - you are after all
the One, aren't you?

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

MOB WARS

Once the cutscene is over you will be put straight into the action. Practice
shooting from behind cover and shoot everyone you can lock onto.
Once you are done with all the part-time criminals the boss will run for it.
Follow him and keep blasting away at your enemies - they won't show any mercy
either.
Remember that fire extinguisher make excellent bombs when destroyed with
bullets; however, you should also remember that this could back-fire!
The civilians won't be of much help (they will transform into focus or health
pick-ups but your health and focus meter should be refilling through your
actions anyway), so ignore them and concentrate on pursuing the boss. What more
can I say, just keep heading down the corridors and stairs until you end up in
a big shoot-out. Take cover if you have to (there is a health pick-up under the
stairs at the back), while the boss will be heading back upstairs, back to
where you just came from. Once you are done with his under-paid low lives
follow him. If you haven't done so yet, you might want to switch to a stronger
gun.
Once you are in the corridor with the huge glass-walls check out an open door
to the left (it's pitch-black in there and a guy will come out of it) in order
to unlock a bonus award. Then return to your pursuit of the boss.
You will come to a large room with a lot of chairs and tables. You will only be
able to take on the boss if you have finished the rest of the gunmen first.
Once you are done with them the boss is all yours.

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT)

I KNOW KUNG FU

Morpheus is a surprisingly easy opponent - once you have gotten hold of him,
that is. Just use the combos you have already practiced during the previous
levels. You will also acquire some new skills during this training. Try them
out and see what happens. Some of them are real fun.
Once you depleted his health meter for the first time your focus meter will
extend. Show him more of your Kung Fu.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In case you are having difficulties defeating Morpheus:
First of all running away is always an option which will help you to refill
your health meter. But there are also some weapons you can pick up which will
help you to give Morpheus the headache he has been asking for. (You will find
them to the right of Neo's starting position.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morpheus will ask you to follow him. Do so and you will find yourself on a
platform. What you have to do is quite obvious - beat Morpheus in a chase to
the phone-line. This might take a couple of attempts, but you will get across
all the gaps and up the walls eventually. Just keep on trying. If you should
fall you will start from a point nearby, however if this happens too often
Morpheus will beat you to the phone (though he will wait a couple of times).
There is only so much help I can give you here: When you reach a gap jump as
LATE as possible! Just when you think Neo is going to fall press the x button.
The same goes for wall running in order to cross gaps. If you start running
on the wall too early you will not make it across. Another tricky part (at
least in my opinion) is the wall-to-wall jumping part. You will have to jump
multiple times in order to reach the top of the wall. Quite often Neo will drop
despite you pressing the x button. In my experience this happened when I
released the button too early. Keep your finger on the button until Neo
actually has completed the jump then make sure to press it again just AFTER
he landed on the other side. It is also advisable to start with the wall on
the right, since you will end up on top of the left wall this way. I found it
easier to get down on this side since you are not face with an abyss you could
fall into.

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT)

WHO PUT THIS WALL IN MY WAY?

'What the hell?' - I guess that about puts it in a nutshell. Anyway, no time to
worry about appearing walls, let's take one down instead. There is a crack to
the left. Strike it in order to make the wall crumble. Go through the hole and
you will be upgraded once again. Practice this skill with the early enemies you
encounter, it will be particularly useful once you are being shot at with
stronger guns.
Free those idiots from their imprisonment by breaking the wall ahead, then take
them both out. Go through the door ahead and you will encounter more officers
who for some reason have decided that you are going to be their target. Do what
you have to do and get rid of them - you could of course just wait for a wall
to appear and block them off. Proceed through the crack in the wall and use the
door. You'll be shot at, once again, so finish your attackers off. Now use the
double doors to get into the next room, but prepare for three officers who have
hidden in this storage room. Once done with them take the health pick-up if
necessary and proceed by taking another wall down. More officer, three of them.
Careful with those fire extinguishers, they can explode just when you don't
need it. Done with your attackers proceed until you encounter two more
officers.
Watch out for those gas canisters! Once Neo's abilities have been upgraded go
through the hole in the wall (if not already there make one) and go through the
door. These two guys are easy targets. If you approach them using your focus
ability they won't even realize what happened until it is too late. Another
officer will enter the room so be quick to take him out as well, before you
go into the next room and widen the crack in the wall. Use the health pick-up
if necessary otherwise make your way through the crack in the wall. An officer
will be waiting for you here so get rid of him and prepare for another officer
to break through the door. Once he is out go through the door and through the
hole in the wall. Eight officers are keen on competing with you.
Get rid of them and go down to the next floor and turn left. Go through the
double-doors and take out the three officers in here. Head through the door and
take care of the officers, then break down the wall. Once through it head
through the door. More officers...must be a nest here somewhere. Use the
double-door once you are done with them and take out more officers. Another
crack another door, proceed taking out officers along the way. Use the door and
you will be back on a corridor. Turn right and prepare to take out a wildly-
shooting crowd. This is a good opportunity for practicing to disarm and
multiple-opponents combat. This guys will have bigger guns than you so be quick
to get rid of them. Pick up all the guns and turn left. You will see an opening
to the right. My advice: approach it with care. The guys coming at you this way
are not fun to be with. Take them out one by one and withdraw if necessary.
You will find a health pick-up downstairs in case you need it (beware of the
man guarding it) but your way will take you upstairs where you will find a
focus pick-up and another crack. Once through it pick up all you need and go
through the door. You will find Aphoc here and a bunch of not so friendly
soldiers. Take them out and follow Aphoc through the door. Follow him through
the next door as well after you picked up the grenade launcher.

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT)
This will be your very first opportunity to upgrade Neo's abilities yourself.
Simply choose one of the skills that are highlighted and confirm your choice...
choice, not exactly much of it here!

WHO SAIS THERE WERE ONLY RATS IN THE SEWERS?

Great, stuck in a sewer. But not for long. If you are looking for a way out,
there is none. Go back to where you came from and you will hear the
communications of a SWAT team. Get ready to take them all out, then pick up
the explosives. Place them on the iron bars that are in your way and withdraw!
THEN and only THEN blow this gate up. Now head down the 'corridor' and
you will be confronted by more enemies. Run down the stairs and place the Det
Pack on the pillar. (You either have to take out some enemies to get it or you
might already have picked it up without noticing. Once you placed it WITHDRAW
and detonate it. Nice work. Go up the ramp you created and head down the
corridor. Shoot the SWAT team and make sure you pick up the Det Pack one of
them leaves for you. (If for some reason there is no such pack make sure you
search the next officers you encounter.)
Take cover and a gate nearby will be blown apart. Make sure you have picked up
all the ammo you can get and keep out of the next fight as much as possible
unless you are a hundred percent that you won't take any damage. You will need
a full health bar in this next section. And I mean NEED!
Follow your allies down the corridor and prepare for trouble. At first sight
it seems to be exactly the same situation. But remember do not take too much
damage. Head down the stairs and place the pack, then SWITCH TO A GUN!
Detonating the pack by accident will be fatal. As you try to return to your
friends the stairs will disappear...Bloody hell! But this is not the worst
thing to happen. Take cover from the shots and prepare for your first
'encounter' with an Agent. I say 'encounter' because your job will basically
consist of running away and dodging bullets and his attacks. This can get
nasty. Keep firing at him while strafing away from him as fast as you can. Once
your guns are out of ammo (and they WILL run out of ammo) use your focus
ability to dodge his bullets as much as you can. This could get really close
and all you can do is buy yourself time while the others will be searching for
a way to help you. Once you are told to get away from the wall you will know
that you might actually be standing a change of surviving. Once you see the
instruction for clearing wide gap press L1 and make your way across. Phew!

CHECKPOINT.

Jump back across the gap and follow your allies up the ramp. Pick up the
guns and health pick-ups you will find and proceed down the corridor where
more SWAT teams are waiting for you. But fist you will have to place another
Det Pack, so do it and don't forget to withdraw. You can engage in the fight
if you want to or simply wait until it's all over. You will be upgraded anyway.
Blow the next gate apart and proceed. Engage or don't engage in the next fight
but make sure you pick up the Det Pack. Use it to blow away the door to your
left, but withdraw wide enough to take your comrades with you before you do
it. Enter through the newly created doorway and shoot the enemies in the room.

BONUS OBJECTIVE: It is possible to proceed without even attempting this
challenge. However, I will describe what to do here for the sake of
completeness.
Jump down and go to the ladder to the right. You will be on a walkway which
has some rising platforms to the right and the exit where your friends are
waiting to the left. Approach the first platform and jump up. But don't pull
yourself up! Press the x button again and again and Neo will proceed upwards.
Once you have reached the third platform pull yourself up and use your wall-
running ability to cross over to the next platform. Use it again and again
until you reach the first of two platforms. (And a grenade launcher).
To reach the second platform just get back on the third of the rising platforms
and jump straight up. Neo will grab a pipe or something. Now shuffle to the
left. Once you have reached the end of the pipe and are as close to the
platform as possible press x in order to jump up (L1 might help as well). For
some reason the game will consider the bonus objective complete even if you not
actually landed on top of the platform. That's it, moving on.

Get back onto the catwalk and go through the exit your allies are pointing at.
Once on the other side you will have to fight a bunch of SWAT team members, but
nothing to worry about. Jump down and use the ladder on the right to climb up.
Use the ladder to the right to get out.

UPDATE (and SAVEPOINT).

GOING UP

If you have seen the movie this is a scene you will be familiar with. You know
what to do. Kill every single soldier coming from the elevator before Morpheus
runs out of time. You can see what state he is in on the right side of your
screen. If you have practiced your skills well enough this part of the game
shouldn't be a problem for you. Just use the pillars as cover and make use of
your focus ability and your guns (lots of guns) to get rid of your attackers as
quickly as possible.
After the second wave you will reach a

CHECKPOINT.

A last tough wave and you will be done here. Make sure you take them on as
quickly as possible. In my opinion guns are to slow here. Get close up and
personal.
After the big shoot-out go to the elevators in order to continue with your
destructive undertaking.

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

ON THE ROOFTOPS

Immediately press L1 and square button in order to get rid of the Agent.
Trinity will shoot him as soon as you do this. Now to your next task. There
will be a helicopter coming from the right which will be dropping off
reinforcements. The problem is that it will keep coming back and every time it
drops of reinforcement an Agent will appear among them. Your task: Kill all
human soldiers first and then get the Agent's attention (by which I mean
dodge his bullets) for long enough for Trinity to be able to shoot him. This
can be tricky at times especially if you run low on focus. There is a focus
pick-up somewhere on the roof as well as a health-pack, just in case you need
it.
So how to end this never-ending attack? You will find a grenade launcher
somewhere near the location where you started this part of the mission. Pick it
up. Soon you will get the option to shoot the helicopter as well. Leave the
soldiers to Trinity unless she is being attacked by an Agent and focus on
taking down this chopper. As soon as it is out of reach return to Trinity in
order to help her defeating the enemies and the persistent Agent.
You will soon get the hang of this, just make sure you manage to get over and
done with it before Morpheus runs out of time. Oh, and just in case you are
wondering what to do when out of ammo for the grenade launcher: use any strong
weapon in your inventory (best used with focus).
You should also note that there are generators on this roof top. Once you
have destroyed one of those you can use it to kill enemies (and I think even
Agents). However, you should remember that it could also be you who is being
fried.
Once the chopper is down and you have killed the last wave of attackers and the
Agent a cutscene will play.

CHECKPOINT.

COME FLY WITH ME

You heard the lady, you are not done yet. Run up to the edge of the roof (why
on earth didn't Neo get in when she did?) and jump. Just when you reached the
highpoint of your jump press the x button again to get on board of the chopper.

SAVEPOINT.

WORKING THE CHAINGUN

Ok, this part is quite easy if you follow a simple rule: Take your finger
off the trigger when you are not being shot at. This will prevent the gun from
overheating (it never happened to me once.) Wait until you see something moving
(or shooting) before you blast away.
Apart from that just make sure you mow down anything and anybody.
Once Trinity is done flying around in useless circles (what is she thinking?)
you will be confronted by another chopper. Try to take it down and don't let
any of the missiles get too close to your chopper. Once you have taken down
the other helicopter you will approach Morpheus. Done with cleaning the
building (use focus as much as possible) get rid of the guy with the missile
launcher as fast as possible. Now it is time to rescue Morpheus.
Take care not to shoot him instead of the Agents (not sure it is possible, but
it would be rather embarrassing to do so, wouldn't it?). Just when you think
you are done a last Agent will come running into the room from the left. Cover
Morpheus and watch the following cutscene.

CHECKPOINT.

WHO PUT THE SUIT ON THE TRACKS?...

The good news: Yes, you are indeed the One. The bad news: this Agent isn't
impressed and you will not get rid of him unless you manage to throw him under
a passing train. So give it all you got and kick his ass. Use your strongest
combos (or the ones that chain the best - lightning combos don't give the
enemy a chance to get back on his/her feet and enable you to start the next
combo straight away) you are basically once again buying yourself some time.
Once you hear the announcement over the speakers everything is a matter of
timing. Push, kick, punch or whatever is necessary to get the Agent onto the
track. Now all you need is a bit of luck and an incoming train. But make
sure it is not you on the rails...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Low on health or focus?
Remember: It is not a shame to run away from an Agent. :) Wait until you have
recovered a bit before you jump back into the action. - And if nothing else
works: 2 health-packs are nearby, but you might want to save them for an
absolute emergency.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now this is a mean trick...Anyway, we knew this was going to happen, didn't we?

CHECKPOINT.

You will now be able to execute an Aerial Blow, which is one of the best
attacks there is - especially when you are in trouble. You will be safe from
any attacks while at the same time charging for an (often fatal) attack
yourself. Remember this when low on health.
Follow the corridor until you reach a door to the right. Go through and you
will fall through a hole in the ground. If you approach the iron bars ahead the
homeless person will transform into Mr. Smith, so get away from by running into
the opposite direction. You will slide down a ramp. Go up the stairs you see
to your right and follow the corridor. Something is seriously wrong here...

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).
This will be the first time that you will be able to use Atman principles.
Some of them are really useful - at times. But the annoying thing about them is
that you will lose them after you completed the level.
I will tell you if I found a specific principle particularly useful for a
specific mission.

Moving on.

STUCK IN THE MOMENT...

Follow the rats and head down the stairs. A train will arrive. Talk to the
conductor and he will tell you something about a token. Remember those floating
little somethings earlier on. Go back upstairs and get one. Now you will be
able to enter the train. Talk to the conductor and go through to the last car
You will have to jump across some disappearing platforms on your way there.
My strategy: patience and a bit of focus near the end.
Once you have reached the last car use the phone.
Ok, I have to admit for this next part took me a while to figure out what to
do. Thought it had something to do with those floating guys or with something I
had to do in the car with the emergency cord. But it hasn't. :P
Once you've done a bit more platform jumping and are back in the car in
question go back outside. You hear me. Repeat this until the car is the right
way around and then pull the emergency cord as soon as you hear the
announcement.
Leave the train and walk up the stairs. Hm, soldiers coming your way...the
reason being: to provide you with much needed guns for the next part ahead, so
do not waste any ammo on them, pick their stronger guns up instead. Go up the
stairs and use the door. If you are hurt use the health pack nearby, you will
need every inch of your health meter. Now use the huge doors to get into the
station.

RAILWAY TO HELL

A cutscene and a familiar voice. Unfortunately this time he will not keep out
of this so get ready to take on a huge number of soldier and the Agent at the
same time. Since you are not supposed to win this fight (your aim is to stay
alive for long enough to jump onto the right train) do not attempt to do so.
Buy yourself time by taking out some of the soldiers and do your best to dodge
their bullets and Smith's attacks.
Do not attempt to jump onto any other train then the one with the flatbed car!
Neo won't knee down and get killed in the tunnel. You will know which train to
jump onto when you see it (but don't miss it) it looks completely different
from the previous ones. (It will be coming on the track to the left seen
from your initial starting position).
In my experience the shoot-out will not get out of control if you refrain
from using any guns yourself. Instead be quick to engage each soldier
individually into hand-to-hand combat. The rest of them won't be shooting at
you for the duration of the encounter and instead approach you themselves.
Smith will also not interfere if you do not approach his position by which I
mean do not go any further than the little hut in the middle of the area.
Use the pillars as cover and stay on the side to the left in order to be able
to jump onto the train as quickly as possible once get the instruction to do
so. If a soldier drops a health pick-up remember the locationand only use it
when absolutely necessary.
RUNNING AROUND WON'T HELP YOU THIS TIME. Bullets will deplete your health meter
faster than you can refill it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: Not sure whether this was a glitch or not, but I once almost missed my
train and ran after it into the tunnel. I was able to complete the level anyway
just by jumping around between the tunnel walls and the train itself. Of course
I had to keep up with the train.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once the train stopped jump off and use the ladder to go up.

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

RUN, NEO, RUN!

Run into the street to your left. Avoid obstacles as much as you can and use
your focus ability to jump over anything that bars your way. More and more
Agents will materialize behind you so keep running and don't even consider
fighting. Turn left again and go right around the corner. Watch the explosions.
Immediately turn right again. A big neo(n)-sign will be pointing you into the
right direction. But first climb the truck in your way using your focus
ability. Use the door (the right one, Neo!) and run up the stairs. Once you
come to an intersection turn left. Go right at the next intersection and stay
close to the wall to the left in order to get immediately into the door which
will open to your left. Once in the apartment smash in the large window and
get outside. Jump down and head through the alley. Do not turn right. Go
through the barriers instead. Then turn right and run up the stairs to your
right. Once you reached the second platform the catwalk in front of you will
crumble. Use a wall-run and focus-jump to get across. Get inside and...face
your destiny.

SAVEPOINT.

From now on you will be able to kick an Agent's ass. But do not overestimate
Neo's newly acquired power (or his health meter). You are after all still 'only
human.'
It is obvious what to do here. At least for those of us who have seen the
movie. Kick butt, Neo. Those guys just killed you.
This fight is quite fun actually. Experiment with your skills, try different
combinations (you might discover new skills, you didn't even no you had). Oh,
and in case you see a security guard: take him out quickly, he could become the
home of an Agent.
Once you have defeated your three attackers the elevator doors will open.
Showdown with Smith, and Neo's big mistake. Anyway, that's the end of Part one.

SET THEM FREE

Ever wondered what the One does in his free time? Here's your answer.
This part of the game is actually quite enjoyable. Your task: get to the red
pills before the Agents do.
I will give you a walkthrough for each mission, starting with the one I
consider the least difficult and working my way up to the hardest one.
Here we go:

1. The Healer (Agents: 1, plain shoot-out)

NOTE: You might want to choose the Atman principle of HEALING for this mission.

Follow the alley and talk to the two passer-bys. Then head down the street.
There is a short alley to the right. Go in there and you will see a sign: 'Red
pill. Herbal Remedies' Now this is what I call a hint... :P
Approach the door and watch the amusing cutscene. Time to take the healer to
an exit. Go back outside and you will soon find yourself in a shoot-out. Some
Chinese guys will help you so this is an easy fight. Once you are done cleaning
the street go back to the shop and get the healer (unless he has already
started to cross the street). Take him to the alley and...Damn!
Go back to where you came from, but make sure the red pill gets there all
right. Cross the shop and wait for the healer to open the door for you. Now
prepare to shoot some police men coming through the glass ceiling in the next
room. Wait for the healer to open the door and go outside. You'll be shot at
again, so make sure you take everyone out before they can get to the healer.
Once done with those guys a single Agent will appear, but he shouldn't pose
much of a problem for you. Once he is out the mission will be over.

UPDATE (and SAVEPOINT).

2. Skull's Lament (Agents: 2, some shoot-out)

Despite the two Agents this mission is going to be child's play since you are
going to fight alongside a talented Kung Fu fighter.

Take out the police in front of the door and then say hello to an Agent. ...A
dead Agent... Once inside you will have to take on the red pill in a short
fight. Show him what you got and that you are a worthy opponent. Once done with
him another SWAT team will enter the apartment through the windows. They've
brought company. Agents will appear soon afterwards. What to do? Practice your
skills, try to unlock new movements...Simple.
That's it, mission complete.

3. The key (Agents: none, just weirdos.)

Go down the stairs and take on this merry bunch. Take out the boss first
otherwise his monkeys will just keep coming.
Now get the chick and leave through the doorway in order to get upstairs.

CHECKPOINT.

Once through the door you will find yourself confronted with more weirdos. But
NOTE: there is a BONUS OBJECTIVE linked to the rest of this level. NO GUNS.
My advice: take your finger of the shooting button in order not to be tempted
to trigger it. Do not listen to her tempting offer!
Once you have sent every bad guy to rest you are done here. Got a good car,
dude?

UPDATE (and SAVEPOINT).

4. The Librarian (Agents: multiple, some shoot-out)

Note: The Atman principle of HEALING could help.

Things are heating up a bit. Multiple Agents will be attacking you at the same
time while you will be busy protecting a terrified red pill.

Your task: keep those Agents busy enough to keep them away from the red pill.
She will take some damage, but if you manage to kill the Agents on the lower
level quickly enough they will be distracted from their original target. Just
take them on as they come.
A cutscene will play showing the librarian (-the not very bright librarian)
running away and locking herself in. Follow her and head down the corridor.
There is a health pick-up behind the door just in case you need it. Take out
the police men in the next room and use the door. Head down the corridor and
enter the next room. Pick up what you need and go up the ladder. Now jump down
through the broken window and prepare for a last shoot-out. Run down the stairs
and take on the attackers on the ground before heading upstairs again.
Clear both sides of the room and take on the SWAT members coming through the
broken window. Just when you think you are done an Agent will interfere. Take
him out and the librarian with you.

UPDATE (and SAVEPOINT).

5. The Security Guard (Agents: multiple, some shooting involved)

Note A: Depending on your skills you are strongly advised to use the Atman
principle of HEALING for this mission. You will be busy protecting an innocent
while at the same time being engaged in fierce hand-to-hand combat with an
Agent.

Note B: You will be given a timed bonus objective somewhere in the middle of
this mission. It is not necessary to complete it, but it can easily be done
thanks to a glitch of the game. When you are told to defeat five enemies in
30 seconds simply keep running up the stairs without engaging in any combat.
The game will rate the objective complete.

Follow the guard as quickly as possible. Soon you will encounter SWAT teams
along the way. You can either just ignore them or engage in a fight. Which ever
you choose make sure you keep an eye on your bonus objectives in order to
complete it successfully. Once you reach the top of the stairs you will reach a

CHECKPOINT.

You'll might need a couple of attempts for this part. What makes it really hard
is the fact that there will be other soldiers in this room who will keep
shooting at the red pill while you are engaged in the fight with the Agent.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what you can do to make it easier for you:
Equip the Atman principle of HEALING and take your finger off the trigger
button! Now engage in the fight with the Agent but keep an eye on your
innocent! If yours or the health of the red pill drop to a dangerous level
retreat from the fight (you won't be able to complete the use of the principle
if disturbed by an attacker) and press the R1 button. Then return into the
action.
RUNNING AROUND IN ORDER TO GAIN HEALTH IS NOT AN OPTION!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember that humans who have not been freed are potential Agents. Each of the
soldiers in the tower can become a potential host for an Agent once you killed
him off. Try to eliminate as many of the soldiers before finishing off an Agent
(unless he poses an immediate threat to your red pill) in order to keep this
fight as short as possible!
Oh and one more thing: Though he will be shooting at you while you are still
fighting the first Agent, make sure you don't kill the innocent by accident.

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

HIYA, FELLAS

Gee, upgrades. Now it is starting to get fun. If you just started to believe
that kicking the butt of an Agent was child's play, this is going to change
now, at least until you have adjusted to your new opponents. Just make sure you
end any fight with an Agent quickly in order to prevent him from regenerating.

Take out the three Agents as quickly as possible. This is a good opportunity
to get used to their new abilities. You'll might realize that one of their
newly acquired skills is to prevent you from jumping. This can be rather
annoying especially if your intention was to charge for an aerial blow.

Once they are down a SWAT team will try to take you on. Teach them a lesson.

SAVEPOINT.

TAKE THEM TO THEIT EXITS

This part of the game is similar to the red pill missions. This time it is your
allies who could do with a bit of help.
Again, I will give you the walkthroughs in a specific order from easy to hard.

1. Morpheus and Trinity
It is not only most likely that Neo would choose to rescue his lover first, it
is also the easiest mission. (At least in my opinion.) Loads of shoot-out and
a single Agent in a chopper (requires more shooting.)

Start by jumping off the roof and help Trinity and Morpheus to get rid of
their attackers. Now make your way around the corner to the left and keep
shooting until you took out the guy with the grenade launcher. (At the far-end
of the street). But watch it. These grenade launchers cause a hell of a lot
damage even to the One. Now take on the rest of the soldiers and police men and
pick up the grenade launcher which you will need later on.
Morpheus and Trinity will come and help you as soon as you have taken out the
health hazard in form of a grenade launcher. Finish off the rest of the
soldiers which will be coming from the right (seen from the end of the street).

CHECKPOINT.

More SWAT teams, more shooting...kick, punch, shoot....what can I say, it is
routine by now.
Once they are all out a cutscene will show an Agent entering the scene. Time to
get out the grenade launcher. If for some reason you have already wasted its
ammo, or cannot find it in the heat of the moment (...) use any good gun
instead but slow down time in order to cause greater damage. (Same goes for the
use of the grenade launcher.) Once the helicopter goes down you are done here.
Say goodbye to your friends you have more missions to accomplish.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Low on health?
Retreat behind the corner and recover.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

2. Captain Niobe (Agents: 6; Shooting as usual)
6 Agents, yet I advice you to complete this mission second? Trust me. If you
have come so far you will not have trouble with this bunch. Plus: the next
missions are even harder.

Surprise! Take out all the police men who are giving Niobe a hard time. Then
prepare for company. Three Agents, but they won't give you too much trouble,
plus you'll get some assistance from Niobe.
Once they are out three more Agents will appear and a huge amount of police
men. (Actually it is an endless supply, since you are supposed to stop them
from entering.)
Here is what you have to do. There is a panel on each floor which controls the
entrance on this level. Destroy it in order to stop the police from entering.
If you are having difficulties to figure out which panel I am talking about use
code vision in order to see it. It will appear red.
Do this on every floor and you should get rid of your police problem easily.
But watch out! This Agent really meant it when he said 'crush him'. Prepare to
use a focus jump on each floor (alternatively you could just run along the
walls) to cross the gap and avoid being 'crushed'. Time to take on the real
bad guys and eliminate the Agents.

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

3. Captain Ballard (Agents 3; lots of shooting)
Some of you might conceive of this mission as easier than the one with Niobe.
The reason I think it might be harder is that Niobe takes better care of
herself and is less likely to be dying on you.
In case Ballard keeps doing it on you: the Atman principle of HEALING could
solve your problem.

Hungry? Ballard is waiting for you in a restaurant, but you won't have much
time for a snack. Once you have stopped playing with those guys on the corridor
proceed to the kitchen. Take out the attackers (all human) using your guns
(anything else might be too slow) and go to the potential exit Ballard is
pointing out. Hear that noise? Right, that's a bomb charging for an explosion.
Withdraw into the kitchen. Use the other exit Ballard is suggesting and prepare
for more shoot-outs. There are some soldiers behind the next corner. Surprise
them.
Proceed to the restaurant by heading through more corridors and more kitchens
killing soldiers along the way and get behind the counter.

CHECKPOINT.

Now keep firing away. But keep an eye on Ballard, he has a tendency to die
during this mission.
Once you have taken out all the enemies (you might want to engage the guys with
the red berets in a hand-to-hand combat - they are worse when they are using
guns.) Agents will appear. Get rid of them quickly and check on Ballard's
health now or then.

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

4. Captain Roland (Agents: none (as far as I remember); shooting: more than is
good for you)
This mission can drive you nuts but if you want to have a go at it anyway:

Note: The Atman principle of Bullet reflect is useful here.

Why the hell don't they just leave the way Neo came through? Anyway, here is
what you have to do. Make your way to the far end of the warehouse and you will
see a door to your right (not the large opening, I am talking about the door
which is on the right wall.) Soldiers are coming in this way. Use Code vision
and you will get aware of some construction beams which are holding up a
catwalk-like thing above this door. Shoot it using L1. It will come down
blocking the entrance. Now climb up that thing and jump up onto the catwalk
to the right. Take out any police men you encounter and help Roland from above.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are multiple explosives in the room use code vision and L1 to shoot them.
But stay away from them yourself!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: It might be possible to use the elevator to get to the control panel of
the crane. Get in and use the L2 button to go up (I overlooked this option
earlier on and used a lot of acrobatic movements to get up there).
If the elevator is not an option at this early stage of the mission:
Head to the other side of the catwalk and jump over to the crane (focus
double-jump). One more double jump and you are on the other side where the
control panel is.
Note: you could have used a different method from the side of the catwalk you
started from, but it is more complicated than this involving wall-running,
double-jumps and wall-to-wall jumping.
Use the L2 button to control the crane. (Confirm the green option which is
already highlighted, then choose either of the other two options.)
Not a very grateful person, is he? Go and help Roland against his attackers.
A cutscene will show a guy with a grenade launcher. Now this is nasty! This is
why I advised you to take this mission last. The damage this guy can cause to
you is a real nightmare.
Here is what to do: Hit the focus button the moment you get back in control and
run up to the glass cabin this guy is hiding in. Do not attempt to attack
him, he is out of reach for now. Instead take out any enemy you can reach
without leaving your position under the window for too long. Why? He cannot
shoot the ground right underneath himself. Use long distance methods such as
bullet reflect or throw objects at enemies. Just take as many out as you can.
A cutscene might or might not play (glitch) which will show Link telling you
to use the crane. If the cutscene does not play you could get lucky and end
this mission just by remaining under the window and staying alive. If it does,
well, I guess you have to leave your cozy, little hideout in the middle of a
shoot-out and get into action. Jump down and run like hell back to the elevator
(the opening I mentioned earlier on). Use it to go up and use the control
panel. Quickly hit the x button and you should be done here. Phew!

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

YOU COULD HAVE JUST ASKED

If he has to apologize for anything it is for being so ridiculously easy at
this late stage of the game. If you fail to beat him I don't know how you did
manage to get this far. The fight is longer than in the movie and with some
interesting twists, but regarding your skills it is nothing you haven't done
before. Show him who you really are.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He is good at preventing you from mid-air attacks and you will not be able
to execute an aerial attack against him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About the pole-fight: Don't know whether Neo can fall off the poles or not
(but actually I don't think so), but you should try to push the analogue
stick in the right directions. Also try to avoid the burning poles just in case
Neo's coat isn't fireproof.
###############################################################################
Note: Jason Tiry has informed me that you can indeed fall off the poles.
Thanks Jason, and sorry that it took me so long.
###############################################################################
Here is what you have to do in order to win this part of the fight. Get Seraph
dizzy and then knock him off the poles. It is not possible to hurt him
otherwise. If you managed to throw him into the flames twice the scene will
change to a funny cutscene.

CHECKPOINT.

Note: there are some brushes lying around on the stage, use them wisely.

CHECKPOINT.

The third part is child's play again. Kick is butt, he has asked for it.

UPDATE (and SAVEPOINT).

ME, ME, ME

To be honest, I had been dreading this scene from the beginning of the game,
but when I finally reached it I had to discover: it is not that tough at all.
Your abilities will have grown far enough by now to make this fight almost
something like fair. (Ok, there are hundreds of Agents on one side and one
human being on the other, but hey, who cares...)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is how to kick butt:
Aerial Attacks - Jump, charge and unleash a combo against multiple enemies.
Use attacks in which you throw an enemy against his comrades or blast them
off their feet.
Use weapons like poles to get the Agents of your back
And: if low on health: RUN, dodge, jump. Anything that keeps you out of reach.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apart from that it is business as usual. Remember to take the finger off the
focus button while unleashing a combo in order to give the meter a chance to
refill.
Remember the movie? Yes, there is a pole around here. Get it and keep an eye
open for the goodies nearby.
So how to end this fun-but-I-want-to-go-home-now fight? Unlike in the movie you
will get to end this fight with a victory. No flying away, no, you have to
stop those Agents from coming. You'll be told to take down the buildings around
the square by smashing an Agent into it. Get over to the entrance of one of the
buildings and grab a pole (there will be an endless supply of those). Now
keep hammering away.

!NOTE! Keen on a bonus award? Check out the middle of the square (yes, where
all the Smith are gathering) You will find an open case there. Pick it up.

If you are really having a hard time throwing Smith into the building just make
sure you keep the fight in front of the entrance of the building, than you will
take it down eventually. Repeat this method until Smith is cut off and crushed.
Good job! I actually enjoyed this.

UPDATE (and SAVEPOINT).

CAUSE AND EFFECT

Well, it is obvious what to do here, isn't it. Stop the bullets and return them
to their source. Time to start the party. Upstairs you will find a bunch of
weapons on the wall. Take one if you need it and get rid of your attackers. I
can't see any problems here.
Now pick up any weapon you like, and leave through the door to the left (your
only option). Head down the corridor and through the next door. In the next
room you will find a secret passage. Get in there and follow the corridor.
You will see a red cross in a distance. Head towards it and you will be
attacked by two enemies. Take them out and proceed to the cross. Once you have
reached it head right and pick up the open case for a bonus award.
Now go down the corridor to the other side. As soon as you try to open the door
you will be attacked. Engage in a fight but don't expect to finish it all by
yourself. What a voice!
Leave through the door and turn left. You will reach three doors.

SAVEPOINT.

UPSIDE DOWN

This next part of the game is the most confusing one. You will find yourself in
a world which defies the laws of the real world. Use code vision to tell
useable doors from those which are not. You will be able to tell whether you
took the right door when you are sucked into some white light.

Head down the corridor and use the door at the far end. Jump across the gap to
your right and use the corridor to the left (do not walk into the room-like
thing with the movable crate, I am talking about a corridor outside this room!)
Now you will encounter one of those fun-to-be-with :P creatures that live here.
Forget about fighting them without using fire! It is impossible and this is
what makes these ant-like bastards a real nightmare. Jump over to the next
platform and grab one of those torches. These will be your best friend for
the next few minutes. Defeat your attacker with it and then head upstairs. Use
the door to the right and ignore the crate. Two ants will be coming for you.
I hope you still got your torch. In case you haven't: see these burning bowls?
They are here to help you. Punch or kick them in order to cause them to drop to
the ground. Now all you have to do is push those little creatures into the
fire. This can be trickier than it sounds.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard time getting rid of your ant problem? Once the burning bowl fell to the
ground keep jumping across it forth and back. Those little bastards will
try to follow you and burn in hell.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once they are dead climb the wall to the right (seen from the closed side of
the room) and walk past the burning bowl. Ignore the stairs to the right
and check out the edge to the left instead. See this hidden stairs leading
down? That's where you are supposed to go. Head down and use the door.
Go down to the fountain and prepare to fight about six of those little
bastards. If you have the time to you could move the crate for the sake of the
game but you won't be able to use it anyway. Fight the ants until you hear the
woman tell you that she has found a way out. Now head to where the gate has
been and use the door to the left.

CHECKPOINT.

Almost out of this madhouse. You could fight these ants, but you might as well
just run up either of the stairs and jump across to the platform with the door.
If you choose the left stairs it will be to your right (just a tiny platform
with nothing but a door.) In the next room use the bowls with the fire to get
rid of your attackers (this could be a tough fight since there are a lot of
them).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Too many attackers? Head straight for the door.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
See those floating cubes? Use code vision to see a red door on the last one.
Jump across and use the door. I know, it doesn't look like it was the right one
(no white light) but trust me, I've been there.
Now Jump across to the next door and you will have made it. Follow the
seemingly endless corridor and you will end up...back where you started from.
Note: If your focus meter is almost empty and you have the patience to do so
check the left side of the corridor for a focus pick-up somewhere along the
middle of the path.

SAVEPOINT.

PLEASURE AND PAIN

This task is simple. Follow the corridor and take out any enemy you encounter.
Something you are really good at by now, right? Pick up the weapons that
someone has planted for you so nicely and then get the show on the road.
In the first room there is a weird bunch of people waiting for you. Watch your
head they will be coming from the ceiling. However, they are not THAT weird
compared to what you are about to see. In the next corridor, more enemies. Same
goes for the next room. Watch out for the burning vases they can explode (you
might want to use this to your advantage). In the next room the woman will pay
you back, but something is weird about her, isn't it...Take out the rest of the
guys and pick up their guns.

CHECKPOINT.

Now that's a mean trick. You will have to do the same trip again, but this time
enemies will approach you in a less offensive way. In the first room there is
an enemy hidden in each pillar. This means that if you get too close to a
pillar while fighting an opponent you will have to deal with a second one who
will jump at you. They will also be shooting at you from above which doesn't
exactly make things easier. But the good news is there is an endless supply of
health pick-ups in one of the corners and every dead enemy supplies you with
new ammunition. Once you are done with being shot at and getting your butt
kicked you might want to check out the middle of the room for another secret
case. Pick it up and leave the room.
Prepare for an adrenaline rush because you will be jumped at from inside the
walls. Twice that is. Take those freaks out and watch the cutscene to see
something really freaky.
Now that's not my kind of party. So let's end it. It is business as usual, just
take care not to get near any of those electrocuted gratings. You can, however,
use them to get rid of enemies.
Back on the corridor more enemies will be coming out of the walls. Head to the
next room and do your thing. This guy might look like a boss, but he is not
really that tough. Once you are done with him you'll be back...where you
started from. Last and final door.

SAVEPOINT.

THE ONE AND THE WITCHES

But a nightmare indeed...
Code vision will tell you which one is the real girl. However, even if you
should be unable to save her the game will not end. Do your best to use your
focus ability to stop whatever the witch is hurling at you. She will also
try and use the 'good witch' as a life insurance.
This fight consists of two parts: during the first part she will be throwing
things at you which you are supposed to stop and throw back. Nasty! In
particular when you are out of focus. The damage these projectiles cause is
nerve wracking. Try to throw something back at her and then rush up to her and
give her a good beating until she changes her position. Repeat this over and
over again. Throw back or avoid, run up to her, kick ass.
She will stop this game eventually, this is when it gets really annoying. She
will grab a bo staff which she will use to attack you like a fury. It is
quite likely that you will spend most of this fight dizzy and unable to counter
her attacks. And what really can drive you nuts is the fact that the witch is
able to regenerate her own health. My advice: Use the weapons from the wall for
as long as they last (which isn't very long) and give her all you got. But
watch it, the moment she starts spinning get away from her and DO NOT ATTACK.
You will get dizzy, lose your weapon and get your butt kicked. Instead run away
from her. Not only will you regain some health, this way you will also be able
to attack the moment she stops spinning. Just keep the camera in an angle that
shows you the witch and your escape route. BUT NOTE: While she is chasing after
you she will regain health as well. So once she is down to red you might want
to forget about not attacking while she is spinning and try to slice away. You
might also be well advised to attempt to take the stick off her. She will cause
less damage this way while you'll be causing even more.
Once the witch is dead it is time to go home. Go to the door you came in
through and leave.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
NOTE:
Many people are experiencing a glitch here and are unable to leave. If you
get stuck in this room it is quite likely that you are one of them.
However, it has been suggested (thanks, Nao) that keeping the good witch alive
might be a way to avoid getting trapped in this room.
But note that it is not necessary to do so! She once died on me and I was
nevertheless able to leave.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

UPGRADE (and SAVEPOINT).

SO MANY DOORS

Note: Choosing the Atman principle of HEALING can help here, but it is not
really necessary.

Follow the corridor and you will soon have to fight two agents. Help Morpheus
and then proceed down the next corridor. The two of you will split up so follow
the right branch. Turn right and you will see some Agents throwing TVs onto the
floor. Take them out and run towards the Smith who is attacking the Key Maker.
Ignore the path to the left it is a dead end. Keep following the corridor. At
the next opportunity turn right and immediately right again to reach another
room full of Smith. Make sure you keep them busy enough to keep them from
harming the Key Maker.
Done here follow the Key Maker into the next corridor, but get in front of him
when proceeding forward. The TVs around you will start to explode the moment
you get near them. Use your focus ability to stop them as good as you can and
make sure that if anyone takes damage it is you. Usually the Key Maker will be
wise enough to wait for you to clear the area before he proceeds so in case you
are running out of focus you could might as well just run ahead and take the
damage for him. The next exploding TVs will also contain an Agent and further
down the corridor you will have to deal with three of them jumping at you from
behind the exploding wall. You will come to a dead end ...or maybe not.

SAVEPOINT.

This part is going to get tough even if you have been working on your skills
properly. Here is the best advice I can give you: Stay alive and don't try to
get in control of the situation. It is not possible. You are NOT SUPPOSED TO
WIN. What you are supposed to do is keep yourself and Morpheus alive for long
enough to escape via the route the Key Maker will open for you. The catch:
He will open a door in an unknown location and will only keep it open for a
couple of seconds. My advice here: Stay close to a door downstairs (I know the
first couple of times he will open the doors upstairs, but you have to be
really lucky to get there in time) and wait for him to open this door. That's
easier than it sounds since you will be under constant attack from multiple
Agents who will also cause the Key Maker to run away.
First go upstairs and get Morpheus, then give them all you got and keep an eye
on the doors.
Note: sometimes when you just missed him the Key Maker will mention his next
location, for example: 'on the other side', if you have been close to the doors
which are facing each other. I advise you to choose these as your waiting
location since your chances are higher of getting a foot in the door.
Once you managed to get into the door the Key Maker will take you to another
door...

OUT OF THE FRYING PAN...

It's really not that hard. Actually it is a lot easier than what you've just
been through. Just take Smith on as he comes for the Key Maker. Morpheus should
be doing fine, just make sure you help him out if he gets into real trouble.
After a bit of Kung Fu and flag staff hurling the Key Maker will manage to
open the door, but the result is not quite what he expected. Use the grenade
launcher he just handed you to get rid of some of the Smith, but apart from
that it is business as usual. Nothing to worry about. Once you hear the Key
Maker calling for you you could just run to the door and get in. !BUT NOTE!
A Bonus Objective will have been added to your list. Survive three waves of
Smith before exiting level...Pretty obvious what to do here, right?. At least
if you call yourself the One! Four or five Smith will attack you at the same
time. Try to engage in hand-to-hand combat as quickly as possible otherwise
they will be shooting holes into you that even a regenerating health meter
cannot compensate for. I have to admit that these Agents are harder than the
Agents Neo had to deal with so far. For some reason you will have a hard time
hitting or getting hold of them. You will have to use the whole repertoire of
your skills just to get some kicks and punches placed into the right position.
Use the flag staff as a weapon this will make it easier for you. Also use
your focus ability wisely, it is your only chance to place a couple of hits.
Once you have defeated a wave you will be told so, and a new one will come.
Don't listen to Morpheus who won't want you to enjoy yourself. Once you have
completed the challenge you can leave.

Unfortunately you are in for a huge disappointment. If you figured that you
still had one third of the game head of you, well, you are wrong. The game will
jump straight to the final battle between Neo and Agent Smith. Shame on you
Atari, Shiny, Warner Bros. etc. and even more shame on you for making the end
fight something of a...joke. It is not only far to easy, it is just plainly
boring. Well, at least I will do my duty as a FAQ writer and give you a full
walkthrough.

After a long cutscene you will finally face Agent Smith. This first part of the
fight is simple (as is the rest of it) just do your usual thing. The only
annoying thing is that the moment one of you gets too close to the other Smith
they will grab him and throw him back into the action. This will also happen
if you are in the middle of a combo, which means that it will break the chain
and you will have to start a new one.
After a little while and a certain amount of damage Smith will raise high into
the air and continue the showdown in the sky.

CHECKPOINT.

This part is rather unexciting. Just make sure you avoid Smith when he charges
at you, and apart from that use the triangle button and charging to deal
greater damage. Note that it is also possible to charge simultaneously which
means that any of you could be taking the damage. The good news you will not
have to worry about your focus meter any more it will refill quickly and
fully!. If you want to deal really huge damage stun Smith with a couple of
punches and then charge for an Aerial Killing Blow, this will give him a good
beating. But note that this only works if he is nearby.
Sooner or later Neo will send Smith into a building.

CHECKPOINT.

This part consists of plain hand-to-hand combat. Show Smith what you have
learned while walking the path of the One and you should end this part quickly.
Back outside....

CHECKPOINT.

Just do what you did the last time. Smash him into the nearby buildings and
use charging to kick his butt. A couple of punches on a roof, a bit of avoiding
here and there and you should soon find yourself back on the ground with him.

CHECKPOINT.

The Mega Punch, ...you might have wondered when you were going to acquire this
skill. Well, here it is. Use it wisely. Like with any other Killing blow you'll
be open to attack while charging up for it. Make sure Smith is dizzy or on the
ground before unleashing this really devastating attack.

CHECKPOINT.

... ... ... I am sorry, but is it just me who is being speechless?... ...

If you just thought this previous part was a disappointment, then you might
right now find yourself on the next level of being disappointed. Something like
a mega-disappointed state... Not only are funny looking figures at this stage
of the game annoying, the next part is also super-lame! Don't blame me if there
is no fun at all in this next and final part. Here it goes:

You won't be able to attack this giant Smith until he allows you to. Do not
attempt to charge towards him unless he raises his arms and you get an x-button
sign on the screen. Then immediately push the button to cause some damage. What
you mean 'What am I supposed to do in the meantime?'? Just fly around into
either direction and press the square button in case the giant decides to hit
you. That's it. Lame, isn't it?
After a while little Smith (well, actually they will have your size) will jump
at you every time their big brother tries to attack you. Evade their attack and
if any of them get hold of you smash the triangle button to get rid of them.
If at any time during this exciting boss-battle you should get smashed onto the
ground you will have to do the following: Smith will be throwing huge
projectiles at you. Use Killing Blow to avoid taking damage. Charge up and wait
until you think the projectiles are just about to hit you and then unleash the
blow. After a while you will get the option to charge at Smith again. Do so to
return to the first version of the fight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your health meter will not refill at this stage of the game. Keep an eye on
Neo's health.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Repeat until you have won. That's it. The war is over.

SAVEPOINT.

Watch the credits. You will now have unlocked some of the cheat codes in the
'extras' section of the menu screen. Depending on how well you did you
will also have unlocked movies, special combos and background material.
Check it out.

THE MATRIX DECODED (UNLOCKABLES)

This is not a complete list of everything you can unlock during this game. I
will not give you the name of every picture in the gallery or a list of the
movies. Just some of the useful stuff I managed to unlock while playing the
first time through.

If you have followed this walkthrough correctly you will have unlocked at least
two of the six cheats:

1. Lots of guns

and

2. Indestructible melee weapons

I also managed to unlock four of the six special combos. I will give you the
right combinations here:

1. The Code Breaker - L1 + circle, rapidly tap triangle, circle, rapidly tap
triangle

2. Quick Kicks - Triangle x4, L1 + triangle, circle + triangle

3. ???

4. Ultimate Hyper Strike - triangle x4, L1 + triangle, circle + triangle, L1 +
circle, triangle

5. ???

6. The One - triangle x5, L1 + triangle, circle + triangle, rapidly tap
triangle, L1 + circle, rapidly tap triangle, circle, rapidly tap triangle,
press x as Neo preps the upper cut, spin left analogue stick 360 degrees at
peak of jump (phew, that was a tough one)

The rest is up to you.

ATMAN PRINCIPLES DECODED

Since my Chinese (or what ever language this is) is really bad (non-existent)
I will use numbers to explain what hides underneath each principle. However, in
my opinion it is much more fun to find out all by oneself...

             1
         7
                  2

       6

         5 3
             4

1 The light of the eyes is as a comet,
And one's activity is as lightning.
The sword that kills the man,
Is the sword that saves the man.
= Heal others

3 The great path has no gates,
Thousands roads enter it.
When one passes through this gateless gate,
He walks freely between heaven and earth.
= Revive

7 When the hubless wheel turns,
Master or no master can stop it.
It turns above heaven and below earth,
South, north, east and west.
= Jackpot (all statistics increased)

2 Focus 360 Clear Out

6 It is better to realize mind than body.
When the mind is realized one need not worry about body.
When mind and body become one,
The man is free. Then he desires no praising.
= Spoon

5 Mega punch

4 To tread the sharp edge of a sword,
To run on smooth-frozen ice,
One needs no footsteps to follow.
Walk over the cliffs with hands free.
= Reflect Bullets

A QUESTION TO ALL THE ONES OUT THERE:

Once you have beaten the game you will have access to Zion's archive...
Unfortunately not even a genius of the hole has a clue what you are supposed
to be doing here....
So I am passing this question on to you, guys: what the hell are you supposed
to do here?
Feel free to e-mail me on this issue, but please make it clear in the title of
your e-mail that you are referring to the Path of Neo. I will forward the
answer to those of you who had been e-mailing me the question and the rest of
you will hopefully be able to find the answer in this guide pretty soon...

AND AN ANWER PROVIDED:

After months of clueless waiting I finally received confirmation of what I have
long been suspecting: There is no secret rabit hole in this archive.
Here is what Razvan Dragu told me: - I've checked at atari with an e-mail and
they responsed. The purpose for that "level" was to make the gamer laugh or as
they said it "put a little smile on the ultimate gamer". some parts were made
to see how some of the "characters" look in the game. example: the robots of
zion. and if you look closely in that level you'll see that neo is wearing
sneekers instead of boots :)) ... . -

Thanks for the clarification Razvan Dragu, and thanks Atari for messing with
our minds ;)

PERSONAL REVIEW

I would like to give this game two different ratings: an 8 (maybe 9) /10 for
the first two parts, and a 4/ 10 for the third one.

Why? Because while the first two parts are full of entertainment, action, good
ideas and, more importantly for every Matrix fan, pretty close to the movies,
the third part is a real let-down. Was it a lack of money, ideas, enthusiasm on
part of the makers? I don't know, but what ever it was, it shouldn't have
happened.
What took me also by surprise were some changes that have been made to the
ending. While the producers obviously tried to explain their reasons for this,
for me the question is not so much whether the martyr thing works in a video
game, but whether we really do WANT to see a different ending...

But apart from that this game is full of fun and good action. Especially the
fighting and focus action has been massively improved since the first game
'Enter the Matrix'. The better you get with the controls the more amazing gets
the action. Do what ever you have seen in the movies. Unlock special abilities
and find new ways of combining your skills. You'll sometimes take yourself by
surprise...
The rabbit hole is deep indeed and it is unlikely that you will unlock it
completely your first time through. Some of the secrets are that well hidden
that you might be a bit disappointed when you find yourself unable to unlock
them.

There is a certain lack of interaction in this game and the choices that have
been proclaimed in the booklet and on the cover are very limited. But whether
or not you see this as a downside might be down to personal preferences. If you
enjoy action, fighting and shoot-outs this game is definitely for you and the
fun will most likely compensate for any let-downs later in the game.

This is at least my personal opinion...

COPYRIGHT AND SPECIAL THANKS

Special thanks go like usually to those responsible for the making of the game,
such as Atari, Shiny and Warner Bros. Interactive entertainment etc.

I would also like to thank my father for the hours of fun I spend playing this
game, and some of my fellow gamers who have been sending me such encouraging
feedback over the past two years. Thanks, your e-mails are appreciated.

This brings us to a rather sad issue, the copyright.
As usually all trademarks and copyrights contained in this document are owned

Taking this guide as a whole or in parts and presenting it as your own work is
illegal. This is guide is for private use only, and if you have anything else
in mind with it, you DO ASK PERMISSION. ANYTHING ELSE IS THEFT.

Usually this is the part where I would say something like this:
'This also goes for other web sites which are interested in using this
Walkthrough: ask for written permission before using any part of this guide...'
Unfortunately this seems to be less of a matter of course than one would think.
I could now start the naming and shaming but would that really do any good?
Would it keep you from taking my guide without permission? Maybe, but maybe it
would just cause you to steal someone else's guide instead. Is it really that
difficult to send a simple e-mail?
You are exploiting our work for making profit, is it really too much to expect
some respect? I hope those of you who it concerns will at least think about
what they are doing next time they are taking someone's guide without
permission. Shame on you.

For all honest user of this walkthrough: I hope you have enjoyed my work and
that you found what you were looking for. All I can do for you is show you the
door. To walk through it is your decision. ;)
If, any further problems arise, or something should be unclear, you can e-mail
me, BUT ONLY IF YOUR MAILS ARE FREE FROM ANY WORM, VIRUS OR ANY OTHER NASTY
SURPRISE, and I will see what I can do to help. Also, only friendly and serious
mails, and make it clear in the title of your e-mail that you are referring to
'Path of Neo'!, since anything else will probably be deleted as junk mail.

Free your mind and believe the unbelievable.
