II. Introduction/Thanks

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone! My name is Mark Tennis and I am 19 years old from Phoenix,
Arizona, USA. I'm writing this walkthrough in hopes of helping people in
doing everything in this game. I will try to make this walkthrough as
SPOILER-FREE as possible. Of course, some things, such as names of places,
characters and enemies will be used. It's hard to avoid spoiling everything.
But, I will not talk about the story at all (like explaining cut scenes), I
will leave it up to you to watch them and see what happens. I am also
currently writing a walkthrough for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which I
am almost halfway complete with. This is my second time writing a walkthrough
for an RPG. The first one I wrote was for Final Fantasy IX that
unfortunately, got scrapped because it is an older game and I didn't feel it
would be of much use with so many other walkthroughs for it out there.

I will try to keep this walkthrough short and sweet when it comes to
how to do certain things (control-wise), I hope you have played an RPG before.
The only thing different than normal RPG's (Turn-Based) is that it has a free-
flowing battle system, which I will describe in the next section. There some
other elements in the game that are either new to Star Ocean or are a bit
complicated. These will be discussed as I get to them in the actual
walkthrough. I'm also writing this walkthrough as I play through the game for
the second time. This way I can make sure that everything I write about is
as accurate as possible.

I would like to thank Tri-Ace and Square Enix for making another great
RPG. I would also like to thank BradyGames for making an EXTREMELY helpful
guide. I urge anybody to go out and buy the strategy guide for this as the
maps are a HUGE help as well as some of the strategies. Also, thanks to
everyone else who has written a walkthrough or a guide for this game. Thanks
to all of your hard work, it is greatly appreciated!! And, finally, thanks to
CJayC for creating a wonderful site where I have read many walkthroughs for
many games(and now I hope to contribute something with this walkthrough),
GameFaqs.

                             III. Battle System

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS IS IMPORTANT!! READ FIRST IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME PLAYING THIS GAME!!

The battle system for the game is a little different than most RPGs.
SOTTEOT uses a free-flow battle system rather than the traditional turn-based
style RPG. While the battle system isn't new by any means (it has also been
used in previous Star Ocean games as well as other RPGs from the 1990's), it
still takes some time to get used to if you aren't familiar with the system.

There are two different ways that you can physically attack your
enemies. You can use a weak attack (X Button), or you can use a strong attack
(Circle Button). While the strong attack is more powerful, it will take more
time to use than a weak attack and it will use up more of your Fury Gauge. A
Fury Gauge is basically your stamina, if it reaches zero, that character will
become tired and not perform any moves (to catch his/her breath). When your
Fury Gauge is full, you can also guard your opponents' weak attacks (strong
attacks can break through a guard).

You control one character in battle, the CPU will control the other two.
You can change the strategy for the CPU (how it acts in battle) by going into
the menu during a battle (hit the Triangle Button to enter the menu) and
selecting "Tactics". You can switch which character you control in battle by
hitting th L1 and R1 Buttons. There are also other things you can do while in
the menu. Such as using an item, changing equipment or using Symbology
(explained in the next paragraph).

You can also perform magic attacks called "Symbology". Some characters
can already perform Symbology when you get them in your party, some characters
you have to teach it to. You have to obtain Tomes in order to teach your
characters specific types of Symbology. In battle, you will have to go to
the menu (hit the Triangle Button) in order to use Symbology.

New to this game is something on the right side of the screen (during
battle) called a Battle Gauge. When this fills up to 100%, you will be able
to gain many rewards after winning each battle (until it is broken). What
rewards you get will depend on the last thing one of your characters did when
it filled up. The Battle Gauge will be broken, however, if the character you
are controlling dies, or takes a critical hit from an enemy. It will also
break if you run from a battle.

That's pretty much all you need to know about the battle system for this
game. Any other element to this game (other than the basics of the basics, of
course) will be covered in the walkthrough.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the walkthrough as much as
I have making it! Now, on with the walkthrough!!

Put in Disc One into your Playstation 2 Console and before you can dive
right into the game, you must first select different settings. Ones that I
chose will have an arrow <--- next to it.

Universe Level (hard) You will not be able to select this or 4D on your first
                      playthrough
4D Level (hardest)

I will write this walkthrough for the Galaxy Level (Normal Difficulty).
The only difference between the difficulty levels is the HP and MP of the
enemy. You also cannot obtain Battle Trophies in Earth Level difficulty. I
suggest you pick Galaxy Level if you want to collect Battle Trophies (by
collecting these, you can unlock certain things, such as the higher difficulty
levels).

After picking your options, the game will begin. First, here's a little
note on how I will be laying out the walkthrough section of this guide. Towns
will be labeled with *'s, dungeons will be labeled with :'s and field areas
will be labeled with +'s. Now lets begin!

After watching the opening scenes, you will gain control of the main
character of this game, Fayt Leingod. You will be inside of the Grantier
Hotel (I still consider this a town because there are no enemies roaming
about), outside of Sophia's room. At this point, you are allowed to freely
room the Hotel. If you enter Sophia's room (the room you are standing outside
of), you can trigger the first Private Action of the game (PA). Here is a
brief explanation of the PA system as well as the different endings of the
game.

+---------------------------+
Private Actions/Endings
+---------------------------+------------------------------------------------+
There are many Private Actions (PA) in this game. These are not
required to complete the game, but they do play a part in determining the
ending for this game. Each PA will affect Fayt's and Sophia's
relationships with many (or all) of the characters (the ones you can
control) in the game, even ones that aren't even in the party at the time!
Some PA's are actually required to progress through the story, but most
you do not (in some cases, I recommend that you do not view some of these
as they will mostly negatively impact your relationships) have to view.

These relationships will affect which of the nine possible endings
you will recieve. There is a way to view all nine endings in just two
playthroughs. There are two paths that you can take depending on which
two characters you recruit later in the game. There is a way that you
can manipulate the relationships by viewing certain PA's so that you can
modify their relationships right before fighting the final boss and view
different endings that way. As each PA comes up in the game, I will tell
you which ones you need to view and which choices to pick to be able set
this up. !!!IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT TO VIEW ALL NINE ENDINGS!!! If I say
that a PA is not required to view all endings, DO NOT VIEW/TRIGGER IT!
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

If you want to view PA #1, enter Sophia's room (the room you are
standing outside of when you gain control of Fayt). If you want the chance to
view all nine endings to the game, DO NOT VIEW THIS!

+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+
                  Private Action #1
                  -----------------
  Location: Sophia's Room
Available: At the beginning of the game
  Required for all endings?: No
How to Trigger: Go inside of Sophia's Room (Room 105)
and examine the trash can to trigger
                  a scene.
+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+

Now, lets explore the Hotel. The other five rooms in the hallway don't
contain any items, nor are there any PA's. But, you can talk to the people in
some of the rooms (most of them multiple times). I recommend that you talk to
everyone that you can understand many things in the game more. Also, by
talking with many people, they will mention some things that will be colored
differently than the other words. If you check your Dictionary (in the pause
menu), new terms may be added and you can read more about each subject. This
is helpful if this if your first time playing and want to know more about the
universe in this game. When you are done with this hallway (there isn't
anything to left to do here), exit from either the far east door or far west
door and you will be in the Transporter Room. Enter any one of the
Transporters to be teleported to the 1F Lobby.

Exit through the door to the north to wind up in the main section of
the hotel. The three rooms along the south wall only contain people. Talk
to them if you want, then go through the southwestern door in the main section
of the hotel to wind up in another Transporter Room. Again, enter any one of
the Transporters to be teleported to the Private Beach. Exit through the
door to the east to enter the Private Beach.

If you talk to Sophia, you will trigger PA #2. Again, if you want the
chance to view all nine endings to the game, DO NOT VIEW THIS!

+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+
                  Private Action #2
                  -----------------
  Location: Private Beach
Available: At the beginning of the game
  Required for all endings?: No
How to Trigger: Talk to Sophia as soon as you enter
                  the beach.
+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+

There is also a girl walking around on the beach wearing a blue bathing
suit. Talk to her to trigger PA #3. Again, if you want to view all nine
endings, do not view this.

+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+
                  Private Action #3
                  -----------------
  Location: Private Beach
Available: At the beginning of the game
  Required for all endings?: No
How to Trigger: Talk to the Flirt on the beach (girl
in a blue bathing suit). This will
trigger a scene in which you will be
                  offered a choice.
+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+

If you choose either of the first two options in PA #3, PA #4 will
automatically trigger when you leave the beach.

+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+
                  Private Action #4
                  -----------------
  Location: Teleporter Room
  Available: After PA #3
  Required for all endings?: No
How to Trigger: Pick either the first or second choice
                  during PA #3.
+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+

Talk to the rest of the people on the beach if you want (you can find
Fayt's parents here), then head back to the Transporter Room through the exit
on the southwest side of the beach. Get in a Transporter to wind up back at
the 1F Lobby and exit through the door to the north. Walk to the east a bit
and you should see a door to the north (leading to the center of the area).
Enter it to wind up at the Lounge.

Talk to the people in here if you want, then examine the replicator on
the southwest side of the fountain to trigger a scene in which you will obtain
a SHAKE. Leave the room through the north door. Head east and go through
the door at the end to trigger a scene in which you will be introduced to a
new character. This is also PA #5. This PA is required to continue with
the story.

+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+
                  Private Action #5
                  -----------------
  Location: Rossetti Troupe's Waiting Room
Available: At the beginning of the game
How to Trigger: Go inside of the northeast room in the
                  Hotel's main area.
  Required for all endings?: Yes
Choice to pick for viewing all endings:
               "No, I believe you."
+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+

After the long cutscene, you will recieve the ROSSETTI PERFORMANCE
TICKET valuable item. There is another PA in this room, but don't view it if
you want to view all nine endings. If you do want to view it, go over to the
door at the south side of this room.

+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+
                  Private Action #6
                  -----------------
  Location: Rossetti Troupe's Waiting Room
  Available: After viewing PA #5
  Required for all endings?: No
How to Trigger: Approach the door at the south end of
                  the waiting room.
+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+

Exit the room through the west door when you are done. Now return to
the central room (the Lounge where you got the Shake) and examine one of the
kiosks on the western or eastern wall to trigger the next PA. This is also
required to continue with the story. When given a choice, pick "Try to
persuade Sophia."

+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+
                  Private Action #7
                  -----------------
  Location: Battle Simulator
  Available: After viewing PA #5
  Required for all endings?: Yes
How to Trigger: Examine one of the kiosks in the
                  central room of the hotel.
Choice to pick for viewing all endings:
          "Don't worry, I'll protect you."
+//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////+

After a while, you will be prompted whether or not you want to activate
the Battle Trophies system. Select "Battle Trophies" from the list of choices
and you will be able to initiate the Battle Trophies (these will also take up
some space on your Memory Card). Also, this prompt is part of the next PA.

Afterwards, you will enter your first fight. It will be against a Moa
and two Poisonous Beetles. This is an easy battle to win, you should have no
problem. Just take this opportunity to get used to the battle system and how
to fight. If you win, you will be given another choice, this is PA #9.

If you want to view all nine endings at the end of the game, you should
win the first fight, then quit after that. The second battle is also much
tougher than the first anyway, so chances are you would lose the next battle
anyway. If you do, however, fight the second battle and manage to win it,
you will be given another choice afterwards. This is PA #10.

In any case, after you are done with the Battle Simulator a series of
scenes will play. When you get control again, exit the Game Room, then head
out of the Lounge through the north door. Another scene will play. Now go
to the east and re-enter the Rossetti's waiting room. Talk to Peppita for
PA #12. If you want to view all nine endings at the end of the game, do not
trigger this PA. In fact, do not talk to any of the troupe members as it may
also trigger PA #12.

When you are ready, head for the Transport Room (southeast door in
this room). After another short scene, enter one of the transporters. Here
you will find a save point by the transporter. Save your game, then exit the
room through the door to the north. After some scenes, you will enter your

Again, this is only considered a town because there are no freely
roaming enemies around. Exit the room you are in and you will be in a
hallway. Head south and you will see some rooms to the east. Go into the far
eastern room (Room 509) in the south hallway to trigger a scene. There's not
much to do here, just explore all of the rooms (entering Room 506 will
continue the story). Note the room with the blue arrow (on the on-screen map)
in the northern hallway. If you enter it, talk to the man in the back of the
room to get healed (he will heal HP and MP). Head for the eastern side of
the facility and approach the stairs that are across from the transporter
room. This will trigger a scene, it is also PA #13.

+========================================================================+

This is your first field area to explore. Here is a brief explanation
on field areas and dungeons exploration.

+-----------------------------------+
Field Area/Dungeon Exploration
+-----------------------------------+----------------------------------------+
You can explore both field areas and dungeons freely. By uncovering
more of the map for an area, you can raise the percentage of how much you
have explored of that particular area. You can see your progress by
looking at the bottom right corner of the mini map (there is a percentage
given). There are also rewards for fully exploring a particular area.
For exploring 99% of an area, you will recieve a Scale Bunny statue.
These will increase the speed of your party in battles. 1/1 Scale Bunnies
slow down your speed, however, you can sell these in towns and recieve
lots of Fol. Note that there are some areas that you cannot explore fully
at first because certain areas may be blocked off, or you need a special
item (we obtain this later in the game) to gain access to hidden areas.

When exploring, be sure to always check the edges of each area to get
additional percentage. The Pesotto Forest is a good way to practice
exploring. Although you can't get 100% right away, you can at least gain
around 96% before getting to the next village.
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

After the scene, you will recieve a SIMPLE SWORD. There is a save
point next to you. You can also heal your wounds (HP and MP) by examining
your ship. Come back here if you get badly hurt.

This field area is pretty straightforward, just explore as much as you
can. Note that there are men blocking one path, so you cannot get 100%
exploration yet. We will come back to this later. There aren't any items
to get in this area. Just explore and fight all of the enemies you come
across. You should have no problem defeating them. The exit of this
first area is to the northwest. If you leave the area and re-enter, the
enemies will re-spawn. Keep fighting enemies until you are comfortable
with the battle system. I recommend getting Fayt to level 2. Let me explain
about skill points and leveling up.

+-----------------+
Skill Points
+-----------------+----------------------------------------------------------+
Each time you level up, you will gain skill points (SP). You can
distribute these in the menu under "Skill Setup". Go to "Status" and hit
the X Button. Now choose which stat (HP, MP, ATTACK or DEFENSE) you want
to raise and hit the X Button again to raise that stat to the next level
(if you have enough SP, that is). It is entirely up to you to determine
which ones you want to level up more than others (or keep them balanced).
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

On the second screen, keep heading north/northwest and you will come
across men that will block the path to the north. From there head to the
east and you will find the exit to the forest. A scene will play and you
will wind up in Whipple Village.

After the scenes, you will be in Niklas' house. Talk to Niklas and
Meena if you want, then exit the house. Now, you are free to explore the
town. The two houses in the southeast part of the village (next to Niklas and
Meena's house) don't contain any items, so just talk to the people if you
want, then head north up the stairs into the main part of the village.

Check the south side of the building to the north of the stairs and you
will find a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Now enter the house that the chest
is next to and you will be in the Village Chief's House. Go forward and you
should see a chest to the right. Open it to obtain more BLACKBERRIES. Talk
to the Village Chief (this is required to continue with the story), then save
at the save point in here. Now exit the house.

The house to the northwest of the Village Chief's House is the Doctor's
House and the house to the west of that is a Private Home. Go inside of the
Private Home and open the chest in the back of the room to obtain BLUEBERRIES.
Exit the house and open the chest on the west side of the house (behind the
tree) to obtain 600 FOL.

Enter the house next to the chest (to the west) and there will be a
scene (this is also required to continue with the story). Now exit the house
and open the chest to the west of the house (behind a rock) to obtain
AQUABERRIES. Enter the building to the south of the last house you were in
and you will be in a general store. Here is a list of what you can buy.

+===========================+
General Store Manybloom
+===========================+===============+
   Item Fol
   ---- ---
   Blueberries 45
   Blackberries 35
   Ring Mail 180
   Clone Generator 350

   Pomello Juice 28,741
+===========================================+

I would recommend buying 8 Blueberries and 3 Blackberries and also be
sure to buy a Ring Mail (you should have more than enough for it if you got
the chest containing 600 Fol earlier). Don't forget to equip your Ring Mail
after buying it. I suggest always auto-equipping your equipment. This saves
time and automatically equips the best possible Weapon and Armor to that
specifc character. To do this, go into the menu and select "Equipment". Now
select which character you want to equip and hit the Triangle Button. When
you are done buying items, exit the store and head back to Niklas and Meena's
house to trigger a scene.

After the scene, you will get your Simple Sword back. Exit the house
and go back to the Village Chief's House to save your game. Now exit the town
to the west and you will be back in the Pesotto Forest.

save your game again (at the Village Chief's House) and return to the Pesotto

The guys who were blocking the path to the nortwest on the second screen
are now gone and you are free to complete 100% exploration of the forest.
Upon completion, you will recieve a 1/144 SCALE BUNNY. Continue northwest on
the path that the men were blocking before and you will enter the Ruins of

+========================================================================+

Welcome to the first dungeon of the game! This works like the Pesotto
Forest in that you can explore the area for a percentage. Note, though, that
certain areas cannot be explored at this time. You will need a special item
(that we will acquire later in the game) to gain access to hidden areas in the
Ruins. These hidden areas will also contain very valuable items (they aren't
listed in this section, we will be getting these items later in the game).

Here's some strategies for the enemies found in this area. The Thieving
Scumbag tend to escape when their HP is low, so kill them quickly to get the
EXP/FOL. The Nobleman and Young Shrieker should be no problem, but watch out
for the Young Shrieker's attacks, they might poison you. Use Aquaberries to
cure poison. The Shrieker uses an attack that drains your MP, so watch out
for that too because you will die if your MP is totally depleted.

Head just to the west of the entrance to the area and open the chest to
obtain BLUEBERRIES. Open another chest just to the north of that to nab more
BLUEBERRIES. Go east of there and enter the ruins of a house and open the
chest here to obtain COOKING INGREDIENTS. Finally, head to the northeast part
of this first area and open the chest to obtain BLACKBERRIES. That's all for
this first screen, don't forget to explore as much as you can. Exit the area
to the east.

Go to the east short ways, then north and you will see ruins of another
house as well as a chest in the ruins. Go through the archway, then go north
and you will be able to open it to obtain RIPE BERRIES. There are no other
items in this area, so go exit this screen to the north.

Walk forward and kill the Thieving Scumbag in the archway, then enter
the ruin that he was guarding and open the chest to the north of the archway
to obtain more BLACKBERRIES. Also, open the chest just west of the archway
to obtain AQUABERRIES. Next, exit the ruin (with the two chests) and kill
the Thieveing Scumbag who is guarding the archway to the west. Go through
the archway and open the chest to obtain more AQUABERRIES. Explore the rest
of this area, then exit this screen to the northwest.

There's some items to get on this screen, but for now head west and you
will see an exit to the south. Take this exit and you will wind up on the
screen you would have been on if you took the north exit on the first screen.
Head south a little ways, then west across a bridge. Enter the ruin that is
straight ahead as you get off of the bridge. Examine the south side of the
ruin and you should see a chest (rotate the camera using R1 and L1 if you
don't see it). Open it to obtain 200 FOL. Now go back and exit the screen to
the north (where you entered the screen).

Go to the north of the entrance and through the archway. Check to the
east of the archway and you will find two chests. Open them to obtain
AQUABERRIES and BLUEBERRIES. Head north through another archway, then head
west through a broken archway and another archway and you will find another
chest. Open it to obtain COOKING INGREDIENTS. Explore the rest of this
screen, the exit to the north. Go to the far west side of this area and open
the chest next to the tree to obtain FRESH SAGE. Exit the screen the way you
came in. Now, take the eastern exit this time.

Explore this screen, then exit to the north (there are no items on this
screen). On this screen exit to the north again (again, no items on this
screen). Go around the western side of the building to the northwest side and
open the chest here to obtain BLACKBERRIES. Now, make sure you are at least
Level 3 before continuing. There is a Boss Fight coming up, but it should be
pretty easy if you are Level 3 or 4. If you aren't confident, then fight some
more battles, head back to Whipple and get healed, buy some items, and save
your game. When you are ready, go around the east side of the building to the
north side and after the scene, you will enter a boss fight.

This is an easy fight if you leveled up a little bit.
These guys fight much like a Thieving Scumbag, thay can
even run from the battle when their HP is low, so focus

Win this fight and you will obtain a BEAT-UP TEXTBOOK afterwards. This
will allow you to use the Standard Anti-Attack Aura. Enter the door that the
henchmen were guarding to enter Norton's Hideout.

+========================================================================+

This dungeon is a lot smaller than the Ruins of Coffir and there is no
exploration needed in this one (so, no percentage). The only new enemy found
here is the Skeleton Warrior. It is very quick with its attacks, so watch
out. A hit-and-run tactic would work the best against it.

Head down the hallway and through the exit to the south. Go down the
stairs and open the chest to the east to obtain FRESH SAGE. Also, open the
chest in the northwest part of this room to obtain a JEWEL OF REFUGE. Exit
through the door to the south.

Take the west path and go through the door. After the scene, save at
the save point. Now examine the computer in the southwest part of the room.
It will ask for a password. Enter in 256 and a door in the other room will
open. NOTE: These numbers can be found in different places in the Ruins of
Coffir, I am saving you the trouble of finding them.

Now exit the room and continue east (and a little south) at the
junction in the hallway and go through the now open door at the end. After
the long sequence, you will enter a boss fight.

  Battle Trophy Opportunities:
      #79 -- Defeat Norton within 30 seconds.
#80 -- Defeat Norton without taking damage.

Cliff will join you for this fight (he will become a new
character after this fight). If you want Battle Trophy
#80, just stand as far away from Norton as you can and
let Cliff deal with Norton (he is strong enough to defeat
Norton on his own). Heal Cliff if his health gets too
low. Also, watch out for Norton's attacks, they can have
quite a range, so don't stand in his line of sight.

For Battle Trophy #79, this is much tougher to do. First,
make sure that Fayt is at least level 7 and equip as many
battle skills on him as you can (such as Blazing Sword
and Aerial). This way you deal a lot of damage quickly.
Just go wild with your attacks (get behind Norton as much
as you can to deal even more damage) and you should be
  able to do it.

+;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;+

Deafeating Norton will get you the DECREPIT TOME. This will teach a
character the Common Support Symbols Battle Skill. Cliff also joins the party
after this battle. I gave the Decrepit Tome to Cliff so that he can learn
some healing moves. I also set his tactics to "Act in a well balanced
manner." so that he will heal your character(s) when they are running low on
HP. When the long scene is over, exit this room, then continue west back to
the room with the save point. After the short scene, you will obtain MUSIC
BOX PARTS. Save your game if you want, then exit the hideout via the way you
came in.

                     **********************************

After you exit the hideout, there will be a short scene. There's not
much to do here other than fight some battles for extra EXP. I recommend
getting Cliff up to level 3 before continuing. When you are ready, head back
to Whipple Village via the Pesotto Forest.

                             *******************
                             **Whipple Village**
                             *******************

There will be a sequence when you enter the village and you will wind up
at Niklas and Meena's house. Exit the house, then go up the right side of the
stairs to the north to trigger a scene in the graveyard to the east. Enter
the Village Chief's House to the north and talk to the Village Chief to obtain
a MEDECENTRA PYROXENE. Equip this on Fayt, it will reduce the amount of HP a
Battle Skill will use up when used in battle. Talk to everyone in the village
if you want and when you are ready, head for the exit to the village and
another scene will play and you will be back in the Pesotto Forest.

                             ******************
                             **Pesotto Forest**
                             ******************

Head back to the first screen of the forest and go to your ship in the
southeast part of this screen. Go west from there and a series of long scenes
will play and eventually you will be on Elicoor II in the Royal City of
Airyglyph.

I recommend setting Nel's tactics to "Act in a well balanced manner".
This is, IMO, the best setting to have all of your characters on. They will
heal if a character's heal gets too low (if he/she has healing symbology) and
they will attack many different ways (battle skills, normal and symbology).
The AI is usually smart when handling the other characters. Run to the east
and you will enter a boss fight.

This is an easy battle because you have three party
members. These guys don't have any special attacks, so
just watch out for their physical attacks. You shouldn't
  have any problems defeating them.

After the battle, you will end up in the Airyglyph Aqueducts.

                           ***********************
                           **Airyglyph Aqueducts**
                           ***********************

There is a save point in front of you and a Recovery Point next to it.
Step into it to recover all of your lost HP and MP. The Aqueducts is another
area where you can explore for percentage and recieve a scale bunny after
getting 99%, but just like the Ruins of Coffir, you cannot obtain 100% at
this time. Again, we will come back later in the game to explore the rest of
the area and obtain the hidden items. The enemies here shouldn't be much of
a problem. Beware of the Slime though, they can poison you with an attack.

When you are ready, save your game and head east to the next screen.
Head south in this room and open the chest to the east of the door at the end
to obtain a WORM-EATEN TOME. This will teach whomever you give it to Common
Attack Symbols. I gave it to Cliff to further increase his arsenal, but it is
up to you to do what you want with it. Continue through the door next to the
chest to enter the next area.

Go through the little archway in the glacier and climb down the ladder
to the west (just south of the glacier). Take the little pathway behind the
waterfall to the south and open the two chests here to obtain RING MAIL and
BLUEBERRIES. Climb back up the ladder and head east. Go through the door to
the south and open the chest out here to obtain a WARRIOR'S BRACELET. This
is an accessory that will raise attack power. I recommend equipping it on
Fayt. Go back to the previous screen and go through the door to the east this
time.

Go up the stairs and through another door to the east. Go through the
archway in the ice to the south and go through the door as well. In this
room, you will find a Toad Beast roaming around the west side of the area.
Fight it, win and you will get some decent EXP (in fact, it gives out the most
EXP in this dungeon). This would be a good spot to level up. I recommend
getting Nel and Cliff to level 4 and Fayt to level 7 before continuing. If
anybody gets badly hurt, either use a healing item, or run back to the
beginning of the Aqueduct and heal at the recovery point. When you are
ready, go through the door to the east. Continue east in here and go through
the north door. Open the chest to obtain FRESH SAGE. Now go all the way back
to the area where you went through the archway in the ice (the room to the
east of the stairs).

Go through the archway in the ice to the north this time and go through
the door to the east. Go a little north, then through the door to the west
to trigger a short scene. Now, see that patch of ice in front of you, to the
west? WALK across it (hold the Circle Button down), otherwise you can't
continue. After going across the first patch of ice, go north to the next
room. Open the chest in here to obtain BLUEBERRIES, then go back to the
previous room. Walk across the next patch of ice to the west. Head north
to reach a Save Point. Save your game, then go through the door next to the
save point and after the scene, you will enter a boss fight.

#82 -- Defeat Giant Crab without taking damage.

This is a fairly easy fight if you are going for Battle
Trophy #82. Handle this the same way you handled the
fight with Norton (if you got the BT in which you didnt
recieve any damage). The best way would be to control
Nel and provide healing support to Fayt and Cliff as
they attack. They should quite easily defeat the Crab on
  their own.

Battle Trophy #81 is a bit tougher, but its possible,
even at the levels I am at (heck, I did it within a
minute at these levels). Just be sure to use strong
attacks and try to get behind it to avoid getting hit.
Equip Critical Hit and Blade of Fury on Fayt beforehand
so that you can deal more damage with your attacks.

Either way, this shouldn't be too difficult. Beware
though, the Crab can Freeze you with an attack. If it
lands a physical blow on a character and he/she is frozen,
then he/she will die. If that happens, use a Fresh Sage
  to revive him/her.

+;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;+

After the battle, explore the rest of the room. Don't forget to walk
on the ice instead of run. Go through the door on the eastern side of this
room to exit the Aqueducts and you will arrive in Airyglyph.

After the scene, you will be at the southwest end of Airyglyph. Head
north on the path, then east down two sets of stairs. Turn south and enter
the building on the east side of the path. You will be in a Private Home.
Talk to the people in here if you want, then open the chest in the northwest
corner of the room to obtain AQUABERRIES. Exit the house and go up the front
steps of the house directly across from you (to the west). Open the chest to
obtain BLUEBERRIES. Continue southwest on the path and at the end is a
Workshop. There is nobody in here, but we will be coming back to this later
in the game. Exit the Workshop.

Go down the stairs on the east side of the Workshop and wrap around it
to the north to find a hidden chest. Open it to obtain RIPE BERRIES. Now go
back to the first Private Home you entered and head southeast from there. You
will see a man walking around here (Dejison the Invention King). Open the
chest near him to obtain COOKING INGREDIENTS. Now go back northwest to the
Private Home again and go north to the path you were on when you entered the
city. Go east and take the second path north. Enter the building on the east
side of the path and you will be in the Wyvern's Tail Inn.

There is a save point here and you could stay at the Inn for 150 Fol to
recover HP and MP. Also, open the chest behind the front desk to obtain more
COOKING INGREDIENTS. Exit the Inn and continue north. Go east and the end of
the path and you will see the exit to the city ahead of you. Don't go there
yet, there are still more items to collect. Head south on the eastern side of
the Inn and open the chest at the end to obatin COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Now go
back and enter the building to the west of the Inn. You will be in the
Dragon's Dungeon Outfitter. Here is a list of what you can buy.

I recommend buying 5 each of Basil, Sage and Lavender. These all cure
various status ailments and could come in handy. When you are done, exit the

the guards won't let you in, so enter the first building to the south and you
will be in the Left-Handed Lizard Armorer. Here is a list of what you can
buy. Note that these are all very expensive, but we will be coming back later
in the game and should be able to afford them by then.

Open the two chests next to the counter to obtain BLACKBERRIES and
BLUEBERRIES. Exit the shop, head east, then take the first path north. Enter
a small crack between two building on the east side of the path and open the
chest to obtain COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Continue north and take the next path to
the east. You will find the wreckage of your ship here as well as a Private
Home that you can enter. Enter it and open the chest in there to obtain
BLACKBERRIES.

Exit the home, then head back west to the junction and head north. Go
up the front steps of the first building to the east and open the chest to
obtain BLACKBERRIES. Enter the Private Home to the north of the chest. Open
the chest in here (in the center of the room) to obtain BLUEBERRIES. Exit the
house and enter the building across the street to the west and you will be in
the Tavern. Go up a couple sets of stairs and open the chest to the south
to obtain 2,000 FOL. Talk to the people in here if you want, then exit the
Tavern.

Head up the steps to the south of the Tavern and enter the building to
the west and you will be in an Abandoned Temple. Open the big chest in the
western part of the temple to obtain PERFECT BERRIES. Exit the temple and
open the chest next to the front door to obtain COOKING INGREDIENTS. That's
it for items to collect in this city. When you are done exploring the town,
head back to the Wyvern's Tail Inn and save your game. Then head to the
eastern exit of town and walk across the bridge. Be sure to explore the
whole bridge before approaching the lady near the carriage. When you approach
her, a long series of scenes will play and eventually you will wind up in the
eastern part of the Traum Mountains.

+========================================================================+

When you regain control of Fayt, you will be near the exit to the Traum
Mountains (at the east side of the mountains). However, there are some items
to collect here and you also will be able to get 100% exploration on this area
right now. But, beware of the two Dragon Brigade Soldiers that are guarding
the path at the west exit of the mountains (also the entrance to the Royal
City of Airyglyph). At this point in the game, these guys are very difficult
to defeat (it is possible to win). Your best bet would be to avoid them as
much as possible. If you do enter a fight then escape from the battle. If
you choose to fight, however, be prepared to use plenty of healing items.
Like with the Skeleton Warrior's in Norton's Hideout, using a hit-and-run
tactic would work the best on these guys. If they manage to kill either
Cliff or Nel (or both), than use Fresh Sage to revive them.

Head west from your starting point and open the chest by the grass to
obtain a JEWEL OF ALERTNESS. Continue heading west and you will see a path
branch off to the north. Open the chest at the end of this small path to
obtain RIPE BERRIES. Continue west and check in a small alcove to the south
to find another chest. Open it to obtain 400 FOL. Continue heading west at
the junction and open the chest to the west to obtain BLUEBERRIES. Head
west from there and open the chest next to the tree to obtain BLACKBERRIES.
Now head back to the junction. The north path leads back to Airyglyph. You
will find the Dragon Brigade Soldiers that I mentioned earlier by the bridge.
Either fight them if you are confident enough (or escape if you enter a battle
that you don't want to fight) or try to avoid them and still get the 99%
exploration. Another strategy to get 100% exploration here would be to use
the Jewel of Refuge when you see a soldier. Then, you are free to explore
for a short time (about a minute) without having to dodge them. In any
case, there are no more items to get here.

When you are done exploring the area around the bridge, head back east
to where you were when you first got to this area. If you head a little more
to the east, a scene will occur. After the scene, keep heading east to reach
the entrance to Kirlsa. Also, when you reach 99% exploration of the Traum
Mountains, you will recieve a 1/144 SCALE BUNNY. When you are done exploring,
head east to enter the Mining Town of Kirlsa.

After the scenes you will be on the second floor of the Iron Maiden Inn.
Head downstairs to find a Save Point. Save you game, then exit the Inn.
There is nothing in the two Private Homes across the road from the Inn (to the
east), nor in the one next to the Inn (to the south). But, check the area to
the south of that home next to the Inn and you will find a chest. Open it to
obtain AQUABERRIES. Note the stairs to the west of the chest, we will come
back here just a little later (to continue with the story).

Head to the east from the chest and you will see a wagon next to a
building. Go down the stairs just to the north of the wagon and you will
come to a chest on the east side of that building. Open it to obtain PERFECT
BERRIES. Head up the stairs to the south and if you enter that building
(above the chest) you will be in an empty Workshop (we will come back to this
later in the game). Head south from there, and go down the steps to the east
(at the end). Enter the small area to the north and open the two chests here
to obtain 520 FOL and BLUEBERRIES. The building to the north is another
Workshop. There isn't anything of interest here, so ignore it for now.

Head to the far east from the Workshop and you will see a small path
to the north leading to a dead end. Open the chest here to obtain
BLACKBERRIES. Now enter the Private Home that this chest is on the east side
of. Open the chest in the north part of this house to obtain 1,400 FOL.
Enter the building right across from this house (to the west) and you will be
in the Master Slayer Armorer. Here is a list of what you can buy. Also, be
sure to sell one of the 1/144 Scale Bunnies because having multiple bunnies
of the same scale will not just keep raising your speed. So, having more than
one would be of no use to you. You will get a cool 9,000 Fol for selling it.

I recommend buying a Longsword for Fayt, a Gauntlet for Cliff and Scale
Armor for both Cliff and Fayt. Don't buy a Falchion, we will be able to
obtain one for free very shortly. Exit the shop when you are done (don't
forget to equip your new weapons and armor). Head a little to the north and
east on the path. Check on the north side of the path after a short ways and
you will see a crack in between the buildings. Open the chest here to obtain

I recommend buying some Fresh Sage so that you can revive your
characters if they die in battle. You should have plenty of money if you sold
the bunny. Exit the shop when you are done shopping. Head north a short ways
and enter the building to the west. You will be in the Iron Curtain Grocer.
Here is a list of what you can buy.

   Gooseberry Juice 3,100
   Steamed Bun 200
+===========================================+

Buy some healing items if you need them, then exit the shop. Head north
to reach the center of the town and head north from there (and a little east)
to come to a gate being guarded by a soldier. Look to the west of that gate
and you will find a chest. Open it to obtain PERFECT BERRIES. Note the
mansion to the east, which you cannot enter (we will come back here later in
the game) and also note the small cemetary to the west.

Now we are done exploring the town, so head to the stairs that are south
of the Inn (the stairs that I said to take note of earlier) and talk to the
Sermonic Old Man at the bottom of the stairs. Now head north to the small
cemetary to trigger a sequence. After the scenes, you will be back at the
Inn. Head downstairs and save your game. There is a PA that you can trigger
at this time, but don't trigger it if you want to see all nine endings at the
end of the game.

If you want to trigger it anyways, head through the west exit of the
town and you will be back at the Traum Mountains. Keep heading west all the
way back to the Royal City of Airyglyph. Here head all the way to the
southeast part of town, where the entrance to the Airyglyph Aqueducts is and
you will trigger a scene. This is PA #17.

Available: After gaining access to the Kirlsa Caverns
  Required for all endings?: No

When you are ready, head for the north exit of Kirlsa. On the next
screen, cross the bridge and go up to the house on the west side just after
crossing the bridge. Check to the south of the front door and you will see a
chest. Open it to obtain COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Continue heading north and you
will enter the Kirlsa Caverns.

This is another dungeon where you cannot obtain 100% exploration at
this time. So, explore as much as you can for now, but you can't obtain a
scale bunny yet. On this first screen, there are no items, so take the east
exit along the tracks. Follow the tracks north, than east to the next screen.
Ignore the buttons to the north for now and continue heading east. When the
tracks curve north, go through an exit to the south. Continue to the south to
reach a dead end. Open the chest here to obtain SCALE ARMOR. Now return to
the tracks to the north. Continue north, then follow the tracks to the west
to reach a Save Point and Recovery Point. Save your game and recover (if you
need it), then head west through the door. After the short scene, you will
enter a boss fight.

This is an easy fight because there are no battle trophies
to go for. The Earth Smasher is of the Earth Elemental
type (duh!) so its attacks are Earth-based. Try to get
behind him as much as possible. The only damaging attack
to really watch out for is his Earth Glaive attack. Of
course, you can avoid damage from that if you are behind
him. Another thing to watch out for are the random
boulders that roll around the area. If you get hit, you
will take some damage as well as have your attack or
spell interrupted. So, be sure to avoid those. Just keep
attacking and use Nel as a healer and you should be just
  fine.

+;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;+

You will also recieve another DECREPIT TOME after winning the battle.
After the battle is over, head to the north and examine the lever on the
platform. Pull it, then head through the west door. Head west and open the
chest to obtain BLACKBERRIES. Now head south to the next screen. Take the
east exit here to be back at the entrance to the caverns. Return to the save
point and save your game if you want (also recover at the recovery point if
you need it). Remember those buttons I told you to ignore earlier? Well,
return to them as these are your tickets out of here. Examine the buttons
and read the instructions to learn more about the Haulers. This is the first
"puzzle" of the game. Here is a brief introduction.

+------------------------+
Hauler Beast Puzzle
+------------------------+---------------------------------------------------+
The next part of the caverns is a series of maze-like tunnels that
you must go through in order to reach the exit. In order to get through
this you must ride a beast called a "Hauler". There are 5 different types
of Haulers, each with their own different personalities.

                      Hauler Personality Types
                      ------------------------
Steady: This is the main Hauler, it will follow all of your
directions but it cannot break through walls and it can't
              jump very far either.
Carefree: This Hauler will only make right turns no matter what your
command is. It isn't fast, but it does have high endurance.
Whimsical: This Hauler does not obey commands (most of the time) but
              it can jump very far.
Ill-Natured: This Hauler never obeys your commands and its endurance is
              low.
Aggressive: This Hauler is very fast and has high endurance. It also
has the ability to break through walls. Its downside is
that it sometimes doesn't obey commands and will not slow
              down below 30 km/h.
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

When you are ready, choose the Aggressive Hauler first. Just stay at
a constant speed throughout when riding this one. Once on the Hauler, don't
hit any buttons at the first junction and it will go right by default. At
the second junction, hit right. Another junction will come up not long after
that, hit left at this one and another junction comes up right after that, so
hit left again and the Hauler will break through some boulders, then you will
wind up back at the entrance again (next to the buttons). Note that once you
break through, the boulders will be gone from now on and you can take a Steady
Hauler through there to collect the items.

Now, get on another Aggressive Hauler and go right (default) at the
first junction. Hit left at the second junction and you will break through
more boulders. Go left again to break through yet another set of boulders.
That's all of the boulders we can break, now lets start collecting the items!

Take a Whimsical Hauler next. Keep your speed around 30 km/h and go
left at the first junction and right at the second. Go left at the third
(if you go right, you will crash into a wall but you will then end up going
left anyways afterwards) junction and right at the fourth junction and you
will reach a jump. Keep your speed increased (at around 30-40 km/h) and you
will fly all the way to the southwest portion of the caverns. Be sure to
slow down right after landing under 15 km/h and you will automatically get
off of the Hauler and enter a small area. Walk south, then west and open the
large chest to obtain an EARTH PIXIE. !!!Note!!! The Whimsical Hauler will
not always obey your commands, so hope that it goes in the right direction
(this one took me several tries to get because it would frequently disobey my
orders). Head back east, then north to get back on the Hauler and you will
automatically go back to the entrance (next to the buttons).

Now select a Steady Hauler. Keep a steady speed for the first part
(around 20 km/h) and stop (slow to under 15 km/h) when given a chance to rest
and you will get off of the Hauler. Now head to the east and open the chest
at the end to obtain more BLACKBERRIES. Now get back on the Hauler. Take
a left at the first junction, then another left at the second junction.
Go over the first jump (increase your speed above 25 km/h), then another
jump. While in mid-air on the second jump, slow your speed down under 15
km/h and you will get off of the Hauler again. Open the chest to the
northeast to obtain AQUABERRIES, then return to the Hauler and you will wind
up back at the entrance (next to the buttons).

Pick the Steady Hauler again. Go right at the first junction this time
and stop (go under 15 km/h) at the first place that you can stop to rest.
Head southwest, then east and open the chest to obtain a CHARM OF INSIGHT.
Now head back to the Hauler. Go right at the next junction, then right again
and stop at the next place that you can. Open the chest to the northwest to
obtain a FALCHION. Equip this on Nel right away. Go back to the Hauler and
go right at the next junction, then left and stop at the next place that you
can (picking left at the next junction before you come to a stop). Now head
to the west, turn north, then head back east and open the chest here to obtain
RIPE BERRIES. Return to the Hauler and come to a stop at the next spot. Open
the chest to the east to obtain 5,000 FOL. Go back to the Hauler and you will
be taken back to the entrance (next to the buttons).

Pick the Steady Hauler once more. Go right at the first junction, right
at the second, left at the third and left at the fourth. Now stop at the next
place that you can and get off of the Hauler. Open the chest to the west to
obtain FRESH SAGE. You will be taken back to the entrance again (next to the
buttons) after getting back on the Hauler. That's all of the items that we
can collect now, so lets go to the exit!

Pick a Steady Hauler one final time. Turn left at the first junction,
then right at the second, left at the third, left at the fourth and finally
another left and you will reach the exit. Be sure to keep your speed under
25 km/h at each junction or the Hauler may not listen to you. Also, when you
get a warning, slow down as much as you can to reduce the stress level from
the falling boulders. Also, when you reach gates, raise your speed to keep
the stress level to a minimum.

When you reach the exit, a short conversation will take place, then
you will wind up on the Bequerel Mountain Path.

There is a Save Point at the entrance of the path. If you want to
return to Kirlsa, just enter the cavern again and talk to the soldier and he
will automatically take you back to the entrance to the caverns (or, if you
missed any items, he will let you take the Hauler yourself). This is also
a good time to level up your characters a little bit since you can quickly
return to the Kirlsa Caverns and use the recovery point, then quickly head
back to the mountain path (just select "Automatic" when picking a Hauler to
automatically be brought to the Bequerel Mountain Path). I recommend getting
Fayt to level 11 and get Cliff and Nel to level 10. The enemies here don't
hit for much damage, so it is easy to build up a Battle Gauge and keep it at
100%.

When you are ready, head north on the path and you will come to a
junction. Take the west path and stick to the north edge and you will come to
a chest. Open it to obtain BLACKBERRIES. Explore the rest of this area, then
return to the junction and head east. You will soon come to another junction.
Take the path south, then follow it west, then north and you will come to an
abandoned mine shaft. Open the chest here to obtain RIPE BERRIES. Head back
to the junction and go north this time.

You will reach another junction soon after, continue heading north.
Open the chest on the ledge to obtain CRAFTING MATERIALS. Explore the area
to the west, but there are no items to be found here. Return to the junction
and head east and go through the gate to the north (east leads to the exit).
Continue heading north and go through the small gap in the fence. Open the
three chests that you find here (to the northeast of the fence) to obtain
WRITING MATERIALS, AQUABERRIES and COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Head back to the last
junction and continue south to reach the exit. If you explored enough, you
will recieve a 1/144 SCALE BUNNY. Note that this also means briefly entering
the Mountains of Barr and the Bequerel Mines so that you can get additional
percentage for the Bequerel Mountain Path. When you are ready, go through the
exit and you will reach the Riverfront Village of Arias.
