#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$
$# The Wanderer #$
#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$

The nameless protagonist of the game, The Wanderer goes to a 'forbidden land'
in hopes of asking a spirit (Dormin) to revive a girl named Mono. His
connection to her isn't exactly known, but it's guessable that they're lovers.

After killing the sixteenth Colossus, The Wanderer is possessed by Dormin. And,
once sucked into the pool in the Shrine of Worship, he becomes a baby with two
horns on his head. Mono tends to him after that in the Secret Garden.

#$#$#$#$#$#$
$# Agro #$
#$#$#$#$#$#$

Agro is The Wanderer's horse, and near the end he fell off a cliff; though he
came back in the ending.

#$#$#$#$#$#$
$# Mono #$
#$#$#$#$#$#$

The girl that The Wanderer was trying to revive, Mono was sacrificed because
she had a "cursed fate". She remains dead until Dormin is dragged into the
pool of water in the Shrine, then she awakens to find The Wanderer in the form
of a baby. At the end, Emon was performing a chant over her body, but the
intent he had of doing that is up for grabs.

#$#$#$#$#$#$#$
$# Dormin #$
#$#$#$#$#$#$#$

Dormin is the spirit that The Wanderer tried to contact. He told TW that if he
wished to revive Mono, he would have to kill the sixteen "Colossi" in the
forbidden land - he also warned TW that "the price you pay may be heavy
indeed." Shortly after TW destroyed the last Colossi, Dormin possessed him. As
he said in the ending, the Colossi were made to imprison his soul, which had
been split into sixteen parts - with the Colossi gone and TW as a willing host,
his soul could merge back together and physically manifest.

He refers to himself as "We", and speaks with two voices; one male and one
female. In the beginning, the female one comes up now and then, but not often.
By the ending, only the male voice is left.

After Dormin was sucked into the pool of water in the Shrine of Worship, he
presumably died. Though, of course, we don't know for sure.

#$#$#$#$#$#$
$# Emon #$
#$#$#$#$#$#$

Emon is a shaman, and leader of some sort of group (most likely a village, but
that's not said explicitly). He and his followers begin to travel to the
forbidden land after the 12th Colossus is defeated, finally arriving after
number 16 falls. He throws the "Ancient Sword" into the pool of water in the
Shrine, causing Dormin to be pulled into the water.

#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#
$# The Colossi #$
#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#$#

The sixteen Colossi inhabit the 'forbidden land', each one varying greatly
from one-another. Each Colossus represents a large idol in the Shrine of
Worship, and those idols house fragments of Dormin's soul. As each fragment is
released, they enter into The Wanderer's body - finally, once they're all set
free, they "transform" TW into Dormin's new physical form (in Dormin's own
words, "We have borrowed the body of this warrior...").

In place of blood, a pure-dark fluid is inside the Colossi. In addition, odd
tentacle-shaped lines, which are the same color as the fluid, swirl out of
the Colossi when they die. In turn, those lines soar into the sky, then ram
through The Wanderer's body, sending him back to the Shrine of Worship.

During that time of being hit and appearing at the Shrine, TW is shown a white
ball of light as indiscernible sounds can be heard.

*TEXT HERE* = Actions. They can be something a character does, or something
that happens to an item of some sort, etc.

TW = Short for "The Wanderer". I'll use it now and then to shorten things.

* - A bird flies down near the side of a mountain where The Wanderer and Agro
are progressing along the cliff. TW pauses to look at the bird, continuing
on his way as it leaves. Shortly, they come to a gap in the cliff; taking
a running leap, Agro jumps over the gap.

* - The Wanderer, still astride Agro, has reached the bridge to the Shrine of
Worship; with him is Mono's lifeless body, wrapped in a cloak. Arriving at
the entrance to the Shrine, the door slides up, revealing an enormous
spiraling, staircase-like ramp. The door shuts tightly as TW and Agro pass
through it. TW and Agro make it to the bottom of the stairs; walking by a
pool of water, they head for the main chamber.

Inside, sixteen statues rest by the walls, eight on each side of the room.
At the altar at the end of the room, TW dismounts Agro; carrying Mono to
the altar, he sets her down and pulls the dark cloak away, revealing her to
be in a white dress. He looks down at her for a moment.

EMON (voiceover): That place... began from the resonance of intersecting
points... They are memories replaced by ens and naught and
etched into stone. Blood, young sprouts, sky--and the one
with the ability to control beings created from light... In
that world, it is said that if one should wish it one can
bring back the souls of the dead... ...But to trespass upon

* - We see a close-up of Mono's face before the camera shifts behind Agro.
Several shadows climb out of the ground, approaching TW as he turns to
them. He unsheathes his sword - pointing it to them, its blade resonates
with light, fading the shadows away into particles. Our view quickly
panning through a large hole in the ceiling, we see a dark, cloudy place.
Returning to the Shrine, Dormin begins to speak.

DORMIN: Hmm? Thou possesses the Ancient Sword? So thou art mortal...

THE WANDERER: Are you Dormin? I was told that in this place at the end of the
world--there exists a being who can control the souls of the
              dead.

DORMIN: Thou art correct... We are the one known as Dormin...

* - TW turns to Mono.

THE WANDERER: She was sacrificed for she has a cursed fate. Please, I need you
              to bring back her soul...

DORMIN: *laughs* That maiden's soul? Souls that are once lost cannot be
reclaimed... Is that not the law of mortals? With that sword,
however... it may not be impossible.

THE WANDERER: Really?!

DORMIN: That is of course, if thou manage to accomplish what We askest.

THE WANDERER: What do I have to do?

DORMIN: Behold the idols that stand along the wall... Thou art to destroy all
of them. But those idols cannot be destroyed by the mere hands of a
        mortal...

THE WANDERER: Then what am I to do?

DORMIN: In this land there exist colossi that are the incarnations of those
idols. If thou defeat those colossi--the idols shall fall.

THE WANDERER: I understand.

DORMIN: But heed this, the price you pay may be heavy indeed.

THE WANDERER: It doesn't matter.

DORMIN: Very well...

* - The camera pans outside the Shrine, looking straight into the sun.

DORMIN: Raise thy sword by the light... and head to the place where the
sword's light gathers... There, thou shalt find the colossi thou art
        to defeat.

beginning to lose control of his body - couldn't hold on to it. The sword
pierces the ground as shadows appear behind TW - he slowly tries to stand
up; his face white, his voice strained, and two horns now protruding from
    the sides of his head.

EMON: I don't believe this... So it was you after all. Have you any idea what
you've done?! Not only did you steal the sword and trespass upon this
cursed land, you used the forbidden spell as well...

* - Two of Emon's followers walk towards The Wanderer.

EMON: To be reduced to such a sight...

* - The Wanderer manages to stand up.

EMON: You were only being used. Eradicate the source of the evil.

* - One of the followers readies an arrow. TW continues to walk, hunched over,
with the shadows still behind him.

EMON: Look... He's possessed by the dead. Hurry up and do it!

* - The follower launches an arrow into TW's leg; he falls over, grabbing his
leg in pain, but stands up again. A shadow crawls out of the wound,
beginning to encase his body in darkness.

EMON: It is better to put him out of his misery then to exist, cursed as he is.

* - Another follower walks up to TW; raising his sword above him, hesitating
for a mere second, he stabs in through TW's chest. Cringing, TW tries to
grab the sword; darkness pours out of the wound, like the Colossi when
they were stabbed. The follower backs up; Emon looks surprised. TW staggers
to the altar - he reaches out to Mono, then pulls the sword out of his
chest, the darkness now starting to envelop his entire body. The sword
falls, as does TW - the shadows still spreading out over him, finally
coming to the tip of his foot. Emon looks at Mono. One of the followers
screams as Dormin - appearing as a horned beast the size of the Collosi -
emerges from TW. Dormin speaks, with his female voice completely gone.

DORMIN: Thou severed Our body into sixteen segments for an eternity in order
to seal away Our power... We, Dormin, have arisen anew...

EMON: He's been resurrected...!

DORMIN: We have borrowed the body of this warrior...

* - All of the shadows run into Dormin's body, increasing his size.

EMON/FOLLOWER (?): Place a seal over the entire shrine before it's too late!

---
* - During the playable segment, a follower grabs the Ancient Sword.

* - Emon and his followers run to the top of the spiral stairs.

EMON: Ready my horse.

* - A follower hands Emon the Ancient Sword; he walks to the ledge that sits
over the pool of water down below. Emon raises the sword into the air,
then throws it downward to the water.

EMON: Be gone fowl beast!

* - As it lands in the pool, a bright light shoots out of the it, creating a
kind of wind/tornado that knocks Emon's mask back. He pauses for a few
    moments, then turns to leave.

Back in the main room of the Shrine, Dormin is being pulled by the wind.
As he's pulled, his size and shape reduces down back to how The Wanderer
was before, but still covered in pitch-black shadows. Shadow-TW makes a
futile attempt at resisting the wind.

Emon and his followers ride across the bridge as it collapses, segment by
segment. After about half of it falls, the camera shifts back to the altar
where Mono wakes up. She steps off the altar; Agro comes in from the side
stairs with a limp leg. As Agro gets to Mono, she pets him.

    The credits start to roll.

which we see Emon and his followers arrive at the end of the bridge as the
    rest of it breaks apart.

EMON: Poor ungodly soul... Now, no man shall ever trespass upon this place
again. Should you be alive... If it's even possible to continue to exist
in these sealed lands... one day, perhaps you will make atonement for
      what you've done.

* - Mono and Agro walk through the Shrine to the pool of water where TW lies
on the ground, now in the form of an infant. Mono steps down to him and
picks him up as Agro starts to walk up the spiral stairs. Mono watches
Agro for a moment before following.

Outside the Shrine, they walk up the side and to the 'Secret Garden' atop
it. Birds chirp throughout the Garden; a deer notices Mono & Agro as they
come in and runs over to them - closer, it slowly approaches Mono. A bird
flies away from the Garden; the camera follows it, leaving Mono and Agro
    out of our view.

High into the light of the sky, the bird travels forward across the
forbidden land, finally ending in a dark place with a raging storm. The
camera shoots passed the bird - the screen goes black.

When you beat Colossi numbers 01, 04, 08, 12, and 16, you're treated to
special sequences. On any other Colossi number, however, you get the same
scene each time. In the scene, the only things that change are: the number

statue is destroyed each time.

anger of the sleeping giant shatters the earth...

most of the save point names, and a few other minor things.

v1.02 (10/25/05) - Got all of the save point names, added the Colossus'
official names, and gave the Colossi their own C-Intro.

v1.03 (10/28/05) - Added another battle hint for Colossus #9.

v1.04 (10/29/05) - Added some more battle hints for Colossi 11, 14, 15, 16, and
                   corrected one other for 9.

v1.05 (10/31/05) - Added another hint for #16.
*(11/02/05) - Typo correction: ICO is believed to be a sequel to SotC, not
                   a prequel.
*(11/30/05) - Added GamerHelp.com to the allowed sites list, and changed
                   section [4'00]'s layout a bit.
*(12/21/05) - Added five new save point names.
*(01/02/06) - Added another battle hint for Colossus 4.

v1.07 (03/07/06) - Redid the scene descriptions, removed the Opening Statements
section, and added a battle hint for Colossus 10.
*(05/03/06) - Added SuperCheats.com to the allowed sites list.

so don't think I hold any one contribution over another.

Just a few notes...

Assuming what information you send in does make it into this guide, then your
name will be added to the Credits section. In the event that you would either
like to keep your name private ("anonymous"), or if you don't want any credit
at all, please make a note of it in the email, and I'll act accordingly.

Now, if you do want your name added, please give a name to which I can
attribute credit. If you don't have any particular alias in mind, then I'll use
the first part of your email (i.e. SomeDude@SomeEmail would be "SomeDude").

Thank you in advance for any contributions.
