Introduction -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Guidelines and Questions ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Please read this before you e-mail me! Thanks! Q) How do I beat the training dummy? A) They're really not worth it. I never bothered with them. It's easier to equip the quick-learning crest and kill the easy monsters in the Adien and Tria reigons to learn the skills listed here. Q) Which weapon should I use? A) Depends. If you like pure strength then look for the weapons with the strongest rating. But I find that the weapons that deal status effects (especially bind, petrify, and freeze) are worth more salt then just the plain ol' uber strength weapons. Q) Where do I get ______ Crest? A) All four can be brought from Jasmine in the San Patty Accesories store in Radiata in the start of the game and post-split if you join the human side. I don't believe you can buy them if you choose the non-human side. Q) How do I learn a Volty Blast? A) You must learn all the other skills for that weapon type first, and continue to fight with that weapon until you've learned it. You'll know when you've learned it because the notice on the after-battle screen is red. Q) I need help with ______! Help me! A) I probably can't help you if it's not about Weapon Skills, but I bet the great people on the gamefaqs.com forums can help you! Q) I e-mailed you # days ago, you haven't responded, why? A) You should have gotten an auto generated-email about how bad I am about reading my emails. I'll try and get to it as soon as I possibly can. Q) I know something not listed here! A) I would love it if you emailed me and told me what you know. I'll give you credit! Q) What if my question isn't listed here? A) E-mail me! Q) Do you have ICQ or AIM? A) Yup, but I don't make them public Q) What's your e-mail address? A) [email protected] ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Version History ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Version 0.0 - Guide is Concieved and Data Collection Starts (11/20/05) Version 1.0 - First Edition of the FAQ is finished. (11/28/05) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Weapon Skills -------------------------------------------------------------------------- \\\ Learning Skills [Learn001] Skills are learned after battles. It's speculated that after you kill a certain number of enemies, you learn a skill. If this is true or not, I'm not sure.. but I'll keep a look out for information that confirms this theory. Simply equip a one-handed sword, two-handed sword, spear, or axe as Jack's weapon and go kill enemies. When you've learned a skill, a notice appears in the after-battle screen saying you've "learned [Skill]" \\\ Volty Blows and Blasts [Volty001] Volty attacks use up the volty gage. Every weapon type has a Volty Blow (Which you already know) and a Volty Blast (which you must learn.). Volty Blows (Command: SQUARE button) You need to have at least 10 points in the volty gage before you can initiate a Volty Blow. To initiate a Volty Blow, press the SQUARE button on your controller. Some of the Volty Blows can miss your target unless they are directly in front of you. Volty Blasts (Command: SQUARE & X Button) Elusive strong attacks, similar to the limit breaks/overdrives of the Final Fantasy games. You'll probably see Ridley and Ganz use their Volty Blasts long before Jack learns his first one. You need to have a full Volty Gage (So that it's flashing yellow with the word MAX) in order to use a volty blast. You also need to have learned the Volty Blast for that particular weapon type. Learning a Volty Blast is the same process as learning any other weapon skill, but you must first learn all the other skills for that weapon type. If you meet the requirements, simply press SQUARE and X together at the same time to unleash the most powerful attack Jack can do. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- \\\ One-Handed Sword Skills [Skills01] Jack starts out wielding one of these.
