1. Intro********************************************GH1**********************
Welcome to an FAQ for another of my favorites - GH3. All that you will need to
know is here, from your basics to Career, so I hope you find this useful.

Also, Wii/360 players - this FAQ is for the PS2 version, so take note of that,
because there may be some differences.

2. Strumming********************************************GH2******************
Okay, first you must learn how to strum. I recommend going to the "Cheats"
menu for this, first. It should be under "Options." Say that you're about to
enter a cheat.

Okay, hold one the green/red/yellow/blue/orange buttons, called frets. Hold
the green button, then strum. Now the red, and strum. Do this with all of the
buttons to make sure they work. By work, I mean you hear a sound.

In the game, a note like this - a normal note - looks like this: O

You also play the star-shaped notes like this. They look like this: *

Okay, let's try some long notes. Strum with any button, but hold the fret down.
This is how you play a long note. If you hold the fret until the end, you will
achieve as many points as possible. If you're aiming for accuracy, all you
would have to do is strum like a normal note and let go at any time. The long
notes look like this:

O=============
*=============

Now we need to do some chords. Hold two frets and strum. Yay! You've done a
chord. Now do THREE frets. Another chord! Chords look like this:

O O==========
O O==========

Those are all of the notes you have to worry about. In this following chart, I
will once again state the note types, with examples. O/* are the notes.
  _________________________________________________________________________
 / Type of Note | Green | Red | Yellow | Blue | Orange \

3. Star Power********************************************GH3*****************
I bet you're wondering what a starred note has do with this game. Well, they
make star power.

Whenever you are playing starred notes, you will notice they come in a series,
not just one or two at a time. Completing one of these sets, called SP Phrases,
will earn you half of the Star Power required to activate it. Therefore, to
activate it, you must complete two of these phrases.

Once you have, tilt your Guitar Hero Controller almost straight up. It will
make the notes all turn blue for a short period of time. Your multiplier will
also double. So, if you have these multipliers, the result is the other number.
  _____________________________
 / Pre-Star Power | Star Power \
|-----------------+-------------| Therefore, Star Power is quite useful, as it
| 1x | 2x | can dramatically increase your score. I have
|-----------------+-------------| a tip - but a weird habit for me - try
| 2x | 4x | activating the Star Power before a long note
|-----------------+-------------| or a long series of notes. I don't know if
| 3x | 6x | it actually helps, but who knows? It seems to
|-----------------+-------------| be pretty good for me.
| 4x | 8x |

4. The Whammy Bar********************************************GH4*************
You likely have noticed the thing with the metal coming out below the strum
bar. This is your whammy bar. It serves two purposes in this game.

During single player, if you hit a long note, be it a chord, normal, or
starred, you should start moving it up and down - yes, the whammy bar. This is
easily accomplished by holding the fret as usual, but using your strumming hand
to move the whammy. Move it fast enough to make the long note pulse and turn
blue. This is a sign that you're gaining Star Power.

It also serves another purpose, during multiplayer face-offs and boss battles
in Career. During those, you may have noticed an icon similar looking to this:
  ___
 / \
| ~~~ |
 \___/

This icon will activate a whammy on your opponent (or you, if used against
you). Should a whammy hit you, you cannot play any notes. To remedy this
situation, start using the whammy bar as if you're trying to get star power.
After a couple of tries, you should be cured of this situation.

5. Your Rock Meter********************************************GH5************
During songs, you have a rock meter on the right side of the screen. This is
your rock meter. It is relative to the number of notes you hit. As you keep
hitting notes, the meter will approach the green coloring. As you miss them,
the meter heads to the red. There are four rock meter statuses:

Green : You're doing great! Keep hitting those notes.
Yellow : You're playing okay. Be careful of missing!
Red : Get back to hitting notes; you're about to lose!
Blinking Red: Miss too many and you'll fail the song!

Obviously, your main goal is to stay in the yellow/green.

6. Streaks********************************************GH6********************
You know how you'll start hitting notes in a row and start getting messages on
the screen like "50 Note Streak!"? Well, a streak is when you hit notes in a
series or in a row without missing any or playing a note at the incorrect time.
The best streak is, obviously, hitting all of the notes in a song.

7. Scoring********************************************GH7********************
Any single note is worth 50 points. A two-note chord is worth 100, and a 3-note
chord is worth 150. There are extra points during the long notes. All of these
scores are subject to these multipliers:
  _____________________________
 / Pre-Star Power | Star Power \
|-----------------+-------------|
| 1x | 2x |
|-----------------+-------------|
| 2x | 4x |
|-----------------+-------------|
| 3x | 6x |
|-----------------+-------------|
| 4x | 8x |

But how do you buy this stuff? You must complete songs in Career mode. If you
do good enough, you will get money. Money = stuff. Stuff = having stuff. So,
yes, to get better stuff, you MUST complete Career ... or cheat.

10. Quickplay********************************************GH10****************
During this mode, you play a song to help you practice or whatever. The main
point of this is to play without getting penalized on your Career. In it is
every song cumulatively unlocked in all active Career files.

11. Multiplayer (Co-op)********************************************GH11******
During this, you both either lose/win at the same time. You can choose your
own difficulty, too. When playing Co-op songs, there will be four options (two
on one song): Lead & Rhythm or Guitar & Bass. You both cannot be the same
thing, so go back and forth on your decisions or something.

Afterwards, choose difficulty, instrument, and play.

12. Multiplayer (Face-off)********************************************GH12***
Time to see if you can rock out loud! In this, you are against each other.
Sometimes, you'll go like in the Tom Morello boss (back and forth) or, like in
Lou boss (together). The point is to get the most points.

Yes, get points, nail accuracy to the wall. Use the Star Power as much as you
can, and good luck.

13. Multiplayer (Pro Face-off)***************************************GH13****
Basically, you play against each other, on the same difficulty, and with the
same notes.

14. Cheats********************************************GH14*******************
Enter these in the "Cheat" menu under "Options."
