I. Introduction ( 00001 )
a. Author Intro ( 00002 )
Now I'm a huge video game fan. I love all sorts wether it's a Playstation 2,
XBox, Gameboy Advance, PSP, Nintendo DS, Gamecube but out of all of
them my favourite is the PS2 by a long shot. Why? More and better games,
popularity, most fun to play, has the best controllers, you can go online the
list goes on and on and on. My favourite games are Devil May Cry 3, Midnight
Club 3, Burnout 3 and Metal Gear 3: Snake Eater.
Anyway I have my very own yearly subscrtion to the Offical Playstation 2
Magazine Australia so I know the good games, Devil May Cry 3, Midnight
Club 3, Burnout 3, Metal Gear 3: Snake Eater for example, and and the not
so good ones such as Army Men Air Attack:Blades Revenge. Anyway since
I knew all the good games availbe at the time of my pusrache which was
on the 11th of July 2005 ( in the school holidays ) I had a pretty good
understanding of what game I wanted. I was thinking along the lines of Devil
May Cry 3, God of War and Gran Tursimo 4. So when I arrived at my local
EB store there was a massive discount going on such as $ 60 for Devil May
Cry 3, $ 20 for Burnout 3, $ 75 for Gran Tursimo 4. Before hand I already
said to myself that what ever game I decide to buy I'll FAQ it. So anyway I
thought Devil May Cry 3 was the best one so I bought it, went home and
played it, loved it and I try to play as much as I can.
This FAQ is my first ever BUT DON'T STOP READING!!!! I am postive that
you will find this guide usefull and helpfull as well as fun to read so please
contiue reading and enjoying my first ever FAQ. Also if you like my FAQ
which you will please rate it at Gamefaqs. If enough people like my FAQ I
will do another FAQ and I'll do more and more.
As I said before I love playing video games but that's not all I like to do. I
like to read and write, esciaplly comics and magazines, I like to watch
cartoons such as Dragon Ball Z and I have found a new hobbie, WRITING
FAQ's for you wonderfull people. So I will try my hardest to contiually be
writing this FAQ for my own fun and for you wonderful people. Also I do
have a personal life as well as a social life so please don't be hard on me
it is hard writing a good FAQ and I am doing this on my own free will I
don't get paid for this so please show a little bit of appreaction towards
me. Anyway with all that done let's get started.

b. Weapons ( 00007 )
Throughout Devil May Cry 3 you will find different weapons. The weapons
are diveded up into Longe-Range Weapons and Short range weapons. At
the begining of a mission or at Divinity Staues mid level you can change
what two Close range weapons and Long range weapons you can have
selected. Below are the different weapons I have found so far and how I
got it.
Close Range Weapons
Rebellion Sword
- Availble at the beginging of the game
- A fast Sword that's good if your surroneded by enemines. It has longe
range, were talking 6 feet long and a nice sharp edge.
Cerberus
- Availble once you defeat the Boss Cerberus at the end of Mission 3: The
Devils Tower
- These are a pair of ice nun-chucks. There not very powerful but are fast,
there good when surronded by a large amount of enemys and work well
with other weapons.
Agni & Rudra
- Availble once you defeat Agni & Rudra at the end of Mission 5: Of Devils
and Swords.
- Agni & Rudra are two seperate swords of fire and wind that you recive
upon beating the Level 5 boss. They strike fast and do decent damage
although some of the attacks leave you wide open for an enemy attack.
They have some stylish moves and work well with SwordsMaster and
Royal Guard.
Long Range Weapons
Ivory and Eborny
- Availble at the begining of the game
- A pair of twin pistols. They have fast, rapid fire and are execlent at Long
Range Attacks. When used with Gun Slinger you will be able to pull off
some stylish and cool not to mention strong combos.
Shotgun
- Availble in Mission 3: The Devils Tower when your'e in the club and go
through the barrier it is on the left on the wall as you walk through.
- This is a powerful shotgun. Yes it is powerfull but takes ages to re-load
and re-loads after every bullet that is fired. Not the best weapon to use
when surroneded by stacks of enemys due to the long re-loading times.
Also there are some cool, stylish and powerful animations when used
with gunslinger.
Artemis
- Availble in Mission 6: Family Ties. Complete all three trails and then put
the stones into the goddess. Two stones will clear the wreckge blocking
the door and inserting the final stone will give you Artemis.
- Artemis is a Crossbow that shoots out balls of energy.
There are probaly alot more weapons to find during the course of the
game and I will contiue to up-date this section when-ever I find a new
weapon.

Green Orb : Green Orbs restore Health. Green Orbs are found destroying
obejects or by killing enemys and demons.
White Orb : These are rarely ever dropped by enemies and they recover
magic power and the DT Gauge.
Gold Orb : These are hidden throughout levels and can also be bought at
the Divinty Staues or the Customize menu. Depending on
what version you have the Gold orbs will do different things.
From my understanding the Japanese Version allows you to
revive with full health when you die and the North American
Version allows you to contiue the game from the last door
you used before you died.
Purple Orb: Purple Orbs are magical stones that are composed of
crystallized magic power. Each Purple Orb increases
your DT Gauge to it's maximum.
Stars
Vital Star S : Vital Star S's are used to restore a small portion of your
health gauge.
Vital Star L : Vital Star L's are used to restore a large portion of your
health gauge.
Devil Star : Devil Stars are used to restore a portion of your Devil Trigger
Gauge.
Holy Water
Holy Water: Holy Water is a powerful liquid that inflicts damage on all
eneimes in the room.
i. Rankings ( 00013 )
Whenever you beat a mission a screen will come up displaying certain
stats about that level . The stats are:
- Time
- Red Orbs
- Stylish Points
- Damage
- Items used
Time is how long you took to beat the level, Red Orbs are how many Red
Orbs you found, Stylish Points is your total amount of Style Points, Damage
is how much Damge you recived and Items Used are how many Items you
used during the mission. For every single stat you are given a grade. The
game then gets the indivaual grades for that level and sorts out a overall
grade and rewards you with a different amount of red orbs. The better
you went the more orbs you will recive. The best indivuial grade possible
is a " S " ranking and the best overall grade is a " SS " grade which you
get if all of your indivuial grades are " S's. " By reciving " S's " and " SS's "
you unlock hidden arts that can be viewed in the gallary

III. Characters ( 00014 )
a. Dante ( 00015 )
Dante is the central Character of Devil May Cry 3 and is a Devil Hunter who
fights with his twin handguns Ivory & Ebony and his sword Rebellion and
as you can imagine Dante is even cockier and more irreverent than the one
we're already familer with. Dante is the twin brother of bad guy Vergil and
posses extradionay powers beyond any human due to the fact that he has
the blood of demon hero Sparda running through his viens.
b. Vergil ( 00016 )
Vergil may be Dantes twin brother but he is a mirror opposite of Dante. The
only similarty is that both Vergil and Dante have the blood of Sparda running
through their veins. Vergil has chosen to follow the path of Demons ( unlike
Dante who choose to follow humans ) and belives power is the ultimate
goal. Vergil works with Arkham to bring forth the Demon Realm and is
complety cold & heartless.
c. Arkham ( 00017 )
Arkham who works closey with Vergil is a human although he is driven to
become a Demon. Arkham is a master of the Dark Arts and as Vergil and
Dante square off with each other Arkhham is planning his own secret scenario
although the question still remains, What does he have to gain by helping
Vergil unleash the Demon World?
d. Lady ( 00018 )
Lady a Demon Hunter who was orphaned by Demons when she was a child
dedicates her life to destroying all Demons and that includes Dante although
first before destrying Dante she arrives at the tower out to get Arkham. Lady
also carries with her, her very own Rocket Launcher which she named after
her late mother. Isn't that nice?
0====================================================================================0
IV. Storyline ( 00019 )
Several thousand years have passed since the Demon Warrior Sparda used
his legandary sword for the good of humans and sealed the demon world
away.
Vergil who has the blood of the legendary Sparda running through his veins
isn't stasified with the super human ablities that come from his demon blood.
In the Demon Realm his powers would be even greater, beyond belief. So
Vergil then enlists the services of a master of the Dark Arts, Arkham, and
brings forth the forbidden tower of Temen-Ni-Gru a massive 800 foot Tower
which is capable of merging the Earth Realm together with the Demon World
which will give Vergil great power.
Dante who has the blood of Demon hero Sparda running through his viens and
a human mother is trying to set up a little shop on the edge of town but can't
help but notice the massive monolith that rose up out of the earth with Legions
of Doom streaming out of it. On standing at the very top of that tower is Vergil,
the twin brother of Dante. So Dante decides to head towards the tower and
investage.
The Demon Hunter Lady also notices the massive monolith and she to heads
towards it with a score of her own to settle.
So prepare to take control of good guy Demon Hunter Dante and kick some
serious Demon butt in.........

VI. Review ( 00021 )
The first Devil May Cry game was fantasic and was quite revolutionary. It was
fun to play even though it was a bit hard. It was then followed by the sequel,
Devil May Cry 2. DMC2 was made in a rush by a whole new devolpment team.
It was a decent game but didn't live up to it it's high standard set by the orignal.
People wondered whether the Devil May Cry series was over so creater Kazuma
Kaneko went back to the orignal game and got what was great about it, got rid
of the bad stuff, added a whole lot more good stuff, gave us a cool storyline and
produced Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening.
DMC3 is about Dante and his twin brother Vergil who has the blood of the
legendary Sparda running through his veins and he isn't stasified with the super
human ablities that come from his demon blood. In the Demon Realm his powers
would be even greater, beyond belief. So Vergil then enlists the services of a
master of the Dark Arts, Arkham, and brings forth the forbidden tower of
Temen-Ni-Gru a massive 800 foot Tower which is capable of merging the Earth
Realm together with the Demon world which will give Vergil great power. Dante
who has the blood of Demon hero Sparda running through his viens and a human
mother is trying to set up a little shop on the edge of town but can't help but notice
the massive monolith that rose up out of the earth with Legions of Doom
streaming out of it. and standing at the very top of that tower is Vergil, the twin
brother of Dante. So Dante decides to head towards
the tower and investage. Meanwhilw the Demon Hunter Lady also notices the massive
monolith and she too heads towards it with a score of her own to settle.
DMC3 is a action game where you take control of a younger, more cockier version of
Dante, you grab your trademark guns Ivory & Ebony along with your trusty sharp sword
and kick some serious Demon butt peforming ultra-cool not to mention stylish combos.
Luckily DMC3 is not all about shooting and slashing Demons because if it was it would
certainly become very boring very quickly. The action in DMC3 is cetrainly fun, fast and
intense but when your not shooting and slashing you will be figuiring out basic, fun puzzles
such as grab this, come here, kill some demons, put this in here, kill some demons, pick
this up, go over here, shove this here etc. Yes, yes I know it sounds boring but it's not. It's
really fun and addictive and you'll find yourself playing into the early hours of the morining
having a ball of fun.
Visually DMC3 is sweeet. It looks beautiful and is very detailed. Dante himself looks stunning
and it's not just him. All the characters look downright awesome and a lot of work has been
put into desiging them. Every little aspect of them. The controls like the graphicsare very, very
friggin awesome. It's a brezze to play and you'll find yourself pulling sweet combos off from
the very begininng. You use the left analogue stick to move, hold R1 to target, press square to
shoot, traingle to use your sword and X to jump basically. Very very easy.
One of the best new features of DMC3 would have to be the new Style System. At the
beginning of a mission or at Divinty Staues found during mid-mission you will be able to
chosse from four different styles. There's Trickster which is like the Matrix and perfect for
beginngers. It allows Dante to become more Tricky and allows dante to run-up walls and
Dash superfast. Then there's Swordmaster which make's Dante unstoppale in Close-range
combat allowing Dante to peform a varity of cool Sword slinger and slashing moves.
There's also Gunslinger which allows Dante to make good use of his goods by peforming
awesome combos such as using your Shotgun as nun-chunks whilst firing at Close Range
eniemes and lastly Royal Guard which allows you to minimse normal eneimes attacks
nearly complety and then firing there own attack back at them. This all new Style System
brings Tatics into the game and allows you to choose the best option for tackling the Level
or Boss. It's also good to Level up each Style occordinagly.
As far as weaponary goes DMC3 hit's it spot on. Whilst there aren't a whole heap of
weapons there's still plenty to choose from such as Pistols, Shotguns, Crossbow's,
Nun-Chunks and heaps of different Swords. However you can't just bring all your
weapons into a level and start causing mahyem. At the begininng of each level you
can choose two weapons of each type, Long-range such as your guns and Close
Range such as your Swords and at the press of a button you can change your weapon
in an instant which is perfect in the heat of battle. L2 changes your Long-range Weapon
and R2 changes your Close-Range weapon. You can execpt to come across some wild
and wonderful weapons and each weapon just like the Styles can be upgraded to peform
even more deadily combos.
In bettween missions you will find yourself at the menu screen where you can choose to
replay a previous mission, go on with the next mission or Save. When in bettween
missions you can also choose to buy new things from the shop such as Vital Stars which
replenish your health and other items which you'll need. One bad thing about the shop
however is that when you buy something the price will go up every time you buy it. You
can also change your selected style and if your happy with your Style, Items and the
rest you can go straight through to th next level and keep the adrealine flowing.
The cut-scenes in DMC3 are nothing short of wonderful, spectualar. You would have to
invent a whole new word explaining how awesome the cut-scenes are. In one certain
cut-scene we saw our hero Dante jump of the top of a massive 800 foot tower shooting
Demon Birds in style. He shoot each one spot on and did it in style jumping off each one
lighting fast and then when he shoot each one which was probaly about 80 of them this
massive monster demon came and ate Dante up. Spectualar. As well as that the whole
cut-scene was backed up by perfect Rock Music which brings us to another aspect. Music.
The tunes in which you will listen to in DMC3 include a full orchestra and then later turns
into heavy rock with songs from bands such as Rob Zombie and Powerman 5000. The
music always get's you in the right mood for having fun playing one of the best games
ever. You would be rocking along if you wern't too busy slaying wicked Demons.
If your'e looking for a game that will last you a long time with heaps of unlockables,
things to do and ways to have fun this is it. DMC3 has five different diifclites such
as Easy, Normal, Hard, Dante Must Die and finally Heaven or Hell where everybody
dies with one hit including you. That's you, your eneimes and even the bosses. As
well as the diffuclities there are numerous photos to find to fill your photo gallery and
a stack of cool, powerful, strong and Stylish combos to perfect.
Overall DMC3 can be summarised by saying that it is a wonderful game that packs loads
of fun and exictment. For the hardcore gamers there are stacks of cool, crazy and
stylish moves to master as well as five different diffuclties and pictures to find to fill in
your gallery just to name a few. And for the casual gamer there is a cool, awesome
storyline and plenty off fun to be had slaying demons and sloving puzzels. All in all Devil
May Cry 3: Dantes Awakening is a execllent game that is well worth the cash and will
provide you with fun for at least 5 months. This is one of the best games that the
Playstation 2 will ever offer.
Graphics: 10
The graphics are execllent the best the PS2 has to offer. Some people will say "It's
nothing I haven't seen before," but hello people the PS2 has been out for several
years, and if you expect every single title you play to be graphically superior to the
last, you are being unrealistic. We have hit a ceiling due to hardware limitations!!
Sound: 10
The sounds include a full orchestra and then later turns into heavy rock. The music
always get's you in the right mood for having fun playing one of the best games ever.
You would be rocking along if you wern't too busy slaying wicked Demons.
Fun Factor: 10
I would give it a 11 if possible.
Camara: 9.5
The camra is execllent as it lets you see where all your eniemes are 95% of the time.
Value for Money: 10
Defintly worth it even for $ 100 as you'll be playing it for many, many months. And with
the deal I got it for ( $ 60 ) it was damn' worth it.
Storyline: 10
Execlent story with an execlent plot.
Controls: 9.8
The controls handle beautifully. You have full control over everything execpt for the
camara sometimes. Therefore I can-not award ita 10
Lifespan: 10
Five different diffuclities, Photo's to fill in your photo gallery not to mention all of
the cool, Stylish moves to master. This is a beast that will take many months to
tame.
Overall: 9.9
Overall DMC3 can be summarised by saying that it is a wonderful game that packs
