R-Type Final Cheats and Tips

Pause gameplay and hold L2 and enter the following codes to unlock the corresponding effect. If the code has been entered correctly you will hear a confirmation sound.
Invincibility
Press Right(2), Left, Right, Left(2), Right, Left, L1, Up(2), Down(2), Up, Down, Up, Down, L1. This will make you invincible until the game is complete. Enter the code again to disable it's effect.
Unlock Full Red Power, Missiles and Bits:
Press R2(2), Left, Right, Up, Down, Right, Left, Up, Down, Square.
Unlock Full Yellow Power, Missiles and Bits:
Press R2(2), Left, Right, Up, Down, Right, Left, Up, Down, X.
Unlock Full Blue Power, Missiles and Bits:
Pause the game, then hold L2 and press R2(2), Left, Right, Up, Down, Right, Left, Up, Down,..

Lady Love ship (#3):
Enter your password as 4170 4170 at R's Museum.
Strider ship (#24):
Enter your password as 5050 1060 at R's Museum.
Mr. Heli ship (#59):
Enter your password as 5959 5959 at R's Museum.
Curtain Call ship (#100):
Enter your password as 9910 0101 at R's Museum.

Lady Love ship (#3):
Enter your password as 4170 4170 at R's Museum.
Strider ship (#24):
Enter your password as 5050 1060 at R's Museum.
Mr. Heli ship (#59):
Enter your password as 5959 5959 at R's Museum.
Curtain Call ship (#100):
Enter your password as 9910 0101 at R's Museum.

Pause the game and hold down L2, then enter the following combo:
Right(2), Left, Right, Left(2), Right, Left, R2, Up(2), Down(2), Up, Down, Up, Down, R2.
To disable this code just follow the same process again.

US version only.

You will hear a chime when you enter the codes correctly, enter the code again to remove the effect.

At the R Museum, you should enter "5270 0725" as a password.

At the very end of Stage 3.0 (Battleship Raid) you have to destroy four plates to get to the boss. If you move your ship to the very upper left corner and do not destroy any of the plates, the game will not begin the boss fight and you can spend an unlimited amount of time in the stage. This is a great way to unlock ships without having to play through the entire game.

To activate this cheat code your ship must be equipped with a Force Device (of course). Then pause the game with the Start button, press and hold L2, then press the following buttons and directions on your pad:
R1, Left, Right, Up, Down, Right, Left, Up, Down, Triangle
