How do I get abilities for my leader because it's at rear admiral and I havent even gotten one yet. If there is sumthing I gotta do besides raising my leader please let me know.

No there isn't any other way except promoting the leader.
Is this monster a dragon type? Several types of monsters require the latest ranks to gain abilities. The fact that dragons possess the highest attack and defense capabilities of all monsters (besides immortals) makes them have difficult to reach abilities. I have a Red Eyes Black Dragon ad Admiral rank (ADM), the third highest available rank, and I only have one ability which is increased movement. Only counter for this is to keep promoting your deck leader.
