To harvest an egg, you first need to catch a chicken. Go to a workbench, and make a chicken trap. It should be under "special plans". Then, find a spot where a chicken sits, and place a trap there. You have to then wait to catch a chicken. It may take a while, so be patient. Once you catch a chicken, go back to the workbench and build a chicken coop. (Also under "special plans") Then, place this coop somewhere, and select "add chicken". Your sim should then pull a live chicken out of their pocket(unless you've already cooked it) and place it on the coop. Then, if you serenade the chicken, it will lay an egg, which you can then harvest!
