You have to press "A" for accelerate and "Z" for slowing down.

Correct! please thanks so much as I had given up on drag race thinking that it required special attention an may be internet connection things as such.

"A" means turn left(secondary control). And there is no control for "Z" or "X". I`m also having this problem. When I reach 50 mph the engine blows. That`s why I have been able to unlock Exhaust Tips and Window
Tints. I can`t finish the drag race in career mode. I haven`t unlocked a car!

To change gear"up" you use left shift and to gear down" you use left ctrl.

Press 2 on top of the game pad to shift guys I'm not sure on keyboard

You have to press left shift to shift gear. Make sure to change gear when needle is between 6 and 7 so it will be perfect shift and don't forget to see left and right controls.

The key to shift is A thank me later don't worry bout the dumb answers thease guys give left shift is gear throwback don't change it lol

Just press left shift when the arrow becomes green. Dont have to drive as usual, just use left and right arrow keys to change lanes

Apparently mine works with
[Insert] to gear up
[Delete] to gear down
