I think they make your shot stronger.

Bomb mode: when you shoot near someone it sends them flyin and kills them good for wiping out gruops of foes

Lethal charge: one hit kill

Heres something you should do. First type in the nailgun code then lethal charge, then bomb mode. Trust me I did it and I beat the game in under 4 hours.
