I have figured out something handy because I had been experiencing that problem myself. All you have to do is:

1) Create a circle of water and fill the inside of the circle with grass or their preferred terrain, leaving an outer rim of water.

2) Fill in the circle with the plants that your dinosaur likes and there is no way that he will destroy your trees again!! *NOTE*-Make sure that the circle is big enough for the large amount of trees and palts that will be needed!!

To keep dinos from stomping on trees, first put all of your dinosaurs in one corner of the exhibet.

Next, put in all of the trees until they want no more.

Then watch each dinosaur carfully, if one is running twords a tree pick it up (its quicker to double click on it) and move it away from the plant.

As soon as the animals happiness bar is green, it will stop destroying plants.

The best way I handle Dinosaurs is on my first go see what EXACTLY they like (So for example if you had a Brachiosaurus who loved Ginko trees and all deciduous with a little water. Then you would know to do that next time). Test out any animal and just play around with it - They will probably get mad or stomp trees the first time but my method really works when you know. Most Dinosaurs have a VERY short temper, seriously. Spinosaurus, T-Rex and Wooly Mammoth get mad VERY fast; they are a must do if added because they're impatient. My best trick is build the exhibit BEFORE you add the Dinosaur of choice with what they prefer. (You don't have to be PERFECT just enough so the suitability is being 70 - 85%, this will keep your Dino patient to do touch up). This will keep them being 85 - 91% happiness till you make their exhibit more comfortable.

Some Dinosaurs are pickier than others - Some love lots of tree and two or three rocks while others, vice versa. Do not be afraid to go crazy with trees or rocks in your exhibit; you can always remove them after but this will make your dino happy very fast. This will also reduce the stampedes of anger, so you don't have to replace plants. You will have to repair though but in 2 - 4 years down the road. I have used this strategy in many Dino Digs scenarios and have won as well as having pretty successful zoos.

I hope this is a help! Also - Do not be frustrated if you have to repair a lot at first. It took me MONTHS to really learn this and get into their 'know how' of exhibits. Good luck and again, hope I helped you! ;)
