What does it mean when my animals need would like more foliage to be happier

Hmmm foliage I think would have to be more plants or rocks...maybe not rocks.. Oh and trees that fits the animals biome. So yeah just add a few more plants or trees ,that suit their biome needs, to thier exhibits and I think that should do it.

Plants. Some animals only like cirtain plants. But for some, like the moose, the like coniferous and diciduos plants. I hope this helps
