How do I use the apples to collect the coin in the cash box?

In Ch. 3 I need to use the apples in the display case and collect the coin in the cash register, however, the apples do not move and the coin will not come out of the cash box...it's like the game is frozen. How can I get the coin?

If you have collected all 3 required apples, simply drag the resulting single apple to the location it shows in the
Description/pictorial on the right side, but put the ARROW/cursor on the box in the left side of the room, not the apple itself.In other words, aim the cursor at the destination, do not try to put the apple in the location. This assumes you have completed previous required tasks.
