Everytime I type in a cheat all I get is "err command not recognised" what am I doing wrong??

There are several possibile reasons why a RTW cheat doesn't work.
1) The cheats wasn't typed perfectly. The cheats are case sensitive, the command name doesn't contain whitespace, I.e. The "_" underscore character doesn't stand for space, it must be entered literally for cheats like "add_money 40000"
2) Some of the commonly listed cheats don't work when your are playing the game they only work if you're editing a map. The cheat lists are taken from map editor commands.
3) Some of the commonly listed elements are not spelled as commonly found in on-line guides - they require mis-spellings to work; e.g. "roman princeps" and "HighPersonalSecuity"
4) Some cheats only work in specific versions of the game, some only work on specific platforms, and some only work in the Barbarian Invasion add-on, not in the original game. Many cheat guides focus on listing as many cheats as possible and fail to note applicability.
To get some success, try this command;
Add_money 40000
It's always available as far as I know.

olaphuant (I think) is for Large Elephants, Only use once as it is said to break the game with too many. You can find many cheats simply by searching on internet. The typing of the cheats must be precise without caps except for names. Good luck
