How do I save the game? So that the next time I get on, I can begin where I left off.

You cannot start from where you were las time.You go from the start of the stage again.

I played Madagascar and at level 8 it saved the goal just before the one that Melman needs to take Mort across without Alex catching them.

The Madagascar game has an autosave feature. When you open the main menu a pop-up appears tells that "This game has an autosave feature".

ACUTALLY MADAGASCAR HAVE AN AUTO SAVE SO WHEN YOU SEE THAT PENGUIN IN THE SCREEN THAT MEANS IT IS AUTOSAVING
